Anyone know if Laurie is a goal kicker?

Asking for a friend.. 😀

ADs strike rate at the end of the year was pretty good . His percentage was brought down by his abysmal start . I’d say as the year went on he became more comfortable , and I’d also argue that his strike Nd purchase of the ball are pretty awesome.

If memory recalls properly Doueihi had a leg muscle injury which hampered his kicking in 2020?

Yea that as well apparently . Do people remember momo missing from in front to lose us a game ? Or did I imagine that ?

Yes recall against the Bulldogs.
We should never had been in that position to kick a goal to Tie the game on fulltime, also leading at the break, Bulldogs were bottom of ladder again attitude thought we only had to show up to Win.

see match stats below Momo he also scored 2 tries....

I’m merely using this as an example that he isn’t the goal kicking messiah , and in fact his on field skill is probably a more apt way of assessing his talent . That’s all.

Well you should not state for losing the game, his overall stats were quite good and he did perform, just making my point but all good.

Agree Goal kicking in recent seasons have cost us playing finals might again this year unless % improve.

Madge not keen on moving him on and i tend to agree if other don't perform he will be playing 1st grade and he needs to realize that this club gives him more opportunity with those who are in front of him.

Mate, you see the irony here. All those that want Momo gone, based on a single newspaper article and a forum contributor who thought he looked upset at training, are condoning exactly the same behaviour from Diane Laurie, our saviour. JL was public enemy No 1 last season, JTJ has been punted by 5 different clubs, TT hasn’t shown anything near what his raps indicate and Momo is a try scorer and goal kicker with experience at 2 premiership winning clubs. Do these people even watch football?

LOL , are you serious ? The issue with the tigers is a lack of dynamic players , who can break a deadlock , and change the outcome of a game . Or simply finish off a half break from a distance . This is what people are talking about .
We have always had good attacking structures throughout our history , but recently , it’s this quality which we have lacked .
Joey , has been told to have a long hard look in the mirror of which he has responded . Jimmy has had a horrendous childhood full of sexual abuse , and abandonment. And only recently in the last year , has he started to open up , and try and find something cathartic, in a really messed up story . Talau who is the next drop , is a sought after impact centre , who could be anything .
And then There’s Kei . One of the most talked about juniors I’ve seen on here , who many good judges think is going to be a star.

Yes we arch footy . But we clearly watch a lot closer than you do. Quoting tries and goal kicks .

So what you’re trying to tell me is your two first choice centres have been told to have a long hard look at themselves or find something cathartic, but a bloke who scores 14 tries in 19 games doesn’t rate.

Lol you can spin it anyway you want , but if I’m a coach , and I’ve got a guy in my team who I can throw a cutout ball to, and know he can do an in and away and score an 80m try , I want hat bloke in my team . Or if I can put a bloke in my team who one on one , is near on unstoppable, yea I want that guy in my team.
What do you think it’s a coincidence that every single winger to play outside Joey has high teens in the try scoring department ?
Just by him being there , created space for players if you know how to use him.
Momo does not do that . With momo you slide onto to him, hold your ground , and wait for the block play to unveil itself , as you can trust your probably going to make that tackle .
This is my knowledge of rugby league .
That the guy who sets up the try , a lot of the time isn’t even the guy who touches ball . With guys like BJ and JTJ you have to respect and acknowledge them , because they can absolutely destroy you , if you don’t . Who’s ever said that about MOMO?

I’ll give you that about JL, but not JTJ. That they don’t say that about Momo is because he’s only 19 games in. Please, 5 clubs don’t ask you to leave if you’re any good.

And if that is your knowledge of rugby league, start watching Soccer.

Why don’t you do us all a favour and beat it mate, youve got nothing good to say about anything, last thing we need is your negativity

What are you talking about? I’ve backed them for plenty to make the top 4 so I’ve put my money where my mouth is. What I don’t need is flakes looking for redemption or show ponies living on a few highlights. Thank God you’re nowhere near the coaching staff or we’d be dead last. Winning isn’t built on wishful thinking, as most of this forum would like to believe. I’m being realistic. If you don’t like that, go follow the Warriors.

Haha haha. So magically, JTJ at 26 is going to transform into the messiah because you read something somewhere in a comic book. Give yourself an uppercut.

What ? Wow ! You absolutely suck at this human game . Maybe you should try something else . The guy has had some serious stuff to get through , and you sound like you have no idea , how a guy with those kind of issues can be toxic to himself and others . It’s with admitting the issue, seeking help , and finding people around you who care that you can truely try to heal , and become most importantly a good person you can be proud of . .
This is why I support him , as , he sounds like the kind of guy I want to back . And he’s a talented footballer who leaves plodders like momo in his dust .

Agreed mate, I am always happy to support someone who owns their mistakes. He has always seemed to this and doesn't hide from his issues or mistakes. When he needs help he usually puts his hand up and seeks that support.

I just think it shows maturity , to even admit this stuff . Let alone go on a podcast and lay it out for all to see . I know a lot of blokes , who have experiences like his , and , many , just can’t help themselves from themselves . It’s the ones who are open about it , and try to have conversations , that seem to be the most ok. But even then , the pit of despair is only around the corner , and can open up at any time .
And for this I Applaud the guy , and hope he can show for himself what he can do. And if that helps some poor kid , going through that stuff right now , or another coming through , especially a young indigenous boy/girl , well how good is that . ?

5 Clubs can ask you to leave if you are good, if the reason is something other that playing ability (off field issues). The real point is that 5 clubs dont keep signing someone on big money unless you are VERY good.

But they did, and he wasn’t!

Just taking a stab in the dark but my theory is Momirovski asked for a release to join the Dogs. The club said no but if you want to go to Penrith so we can get Laurie we would be open to that. He doesn’t want to go to Penrith because he will be playing reggies there too. Now we have a Mexican standoff.

Or it is nothing like that and I’m just making things up in my head again 🤷‍♂️

You are now the prince of this forum! This is gold!

His issues are plenty and they have been well documented. He really comes across as a genuine bloke who doesnt shy away from his responsibilities for his actions, but having said that he hasnt been able to get it together yet. I genuinely hope he does with us.

IMO the mark of the man is the quality of people that continue to this day to support and try to help him, even after he has burned the bridge. Men like Madge and Bennett would have reason to wipe him but both of them and others continue to hold their hand out to him to help. Souffs are paying for/contributing to the support he is currently getting. To me this indicates the bloke he is.

I don’t care what you give me . You’ve got no idea . It’s obvious with every word you say . If you would you’d understand how out of touch you are , with the reasons why JTJ can be anything , and the reasons why he sabotaged himself previously . If your not 16 year old school kid , I feel sorry for you .

Spot on mate, I suffer from mental health issues related to experiences growing up. I know how hard it is to talk about an I really admire Roberts honesty and openness. He has his relapses but is always willing to work on his issues and seeks out assistance. At times I wish I could be as strong as he is.

I agree with this..compare Roberts to Dylan Walker ..who it's always someone else's fault..

Roberts has always owned his issues...Bennett sought him out twice..It was not his football...

I think Roberts was def a chance worth taking but he has done nothing yet - desperately hope he does - and if he wasnt wearing our colours I suspect most on here wouldn't have much good to say about him. Momovroski has every chance of getting a shot ahead of the two most likely, and it would be a shame to let him go without ever really giving him a fair crack imo.

Me too mate . I have huge aggression issues, because of it , which made me good for footy and fighting , but not so much in the real world . I know blokes who have killed themselves , others who can’t stop sleeping around , because how low they really think of themselves , others who are celibate because of how horrid they are to deal with in relationships .
Mental health issues everywhere . Pretty disgusting when some imbecile on here , makes a mockery of the bloke just to win an argument .
No respect for people like that to be honest . If I could van him I would .which is surprising because I’m never an advocate for that .

From Michael Chammas: "The Panthers are also considering signing Wests Tigers back Paul Momirovski in a deal which would potentially allow fullback Daine Laurie the opportunity to leave immediately and link up with the joint venture club."

But I thought Momirovski was our strike centre.

He played centre for the Roosters when they won the comp,

He only played 2 games and was dropped in the game that counted.

>then he played centre for the Storm when they won the comp

PLayed 6 games.

Ray Cashmere, Matt Jobson, Shannon McDonnell and Ben Reynolds all played in a team that won the comp.

....maybe Penrith know something you don't...

The same guy who would be buying Momo if its true also purchased Josh Reynolds on $900K

He wasn't dropped, he was replacing an injured starter and scored a try in a semi final.

He wasnt dropped? He wasnt injured and he wasnt picked, what would you call it?

He played 6 games at the Storm because he was injured.
Same bloke that bought Reynolds just won the minor premiership.

With the team that Hook built

You can spin it whichever way you like, he's got two premiership rings.

No he doesn't

Here we go again

Only players in the 17 get a ring, Thurston gave his to Steve Price when the Bulldogs won because Price missed the game.

Na Cheese - You're wrong....
Club can order as many as they like - Souths ordered 30 odd.

Yeah, they can, the club pays for them after the 17 though. If I was momirovski's situation, I wouldn't feel like a premiership player unless I played in the game or had been heavily involved in the season. Was Ben Reynolds a premiership winning player for us?

He played in a premier winning team but not in the team on Grand Final day. Was he a member of team, I think he was. Surly he made a contribution in some way, not in the GF but as member of the team. Yes he was.

You can bloke him

Just taking a stab in the dark but my theory is Momirovski asked for a release to join the Dogs. The club said no but if you want to go to Penrith so we can get Laurie we would be open to that. He doesn’t want to go to Penrith because he will be playing reggies there too. Now we have a Mexican standoff.

Or it is nothing like that and I’m just making things up in my head again 🤷‍♂️

This does seem plausible. If he did get an offer from Dogs I wonder would they offer Meaney up as a swap. I'd be happy with that exchange.
