**Wests Tigers turn down release request from centre Paul Momirovski**

EXCLUSIVE – The Wests Tigers and Paul Momirovski are locked in a dispute that threatens to escalate after the centre had two official release requests turned down by the club.
Foxsports.com.au can reveal that the Tigers are refusing to let Momirovski leave despite informing him he would not be a first-choice centre at Concord.
The 24-year-old, who has 14 tries in 19 NRL games, has been training at five-eighth during the pre-season and has held three conversations with head coach Michael Maguire about being granted permission to leave.
Rival clubs are monitoring the situation closely, with Canterbury and Penrith keen on his services.
The Tigers, however, are digging their heels in, arguing that a roster with strong depth across the backline can only be beneficial for the club.
Momirovski did not play for the Tigers in 2020 as he headed to Melbourne as part of a loan deal involving Harry Grant.
He was encouraged to make the move to the Storm as his temporary departure would allow the Tigers to secure an NRL-standard hooker.
A hand injury curtailed his run in the Storm’s right centre spot but despite mutual interest in extending his stay at Melbourne, he went back to Concord to honour the last year of his contract.
Upon his return, the Tigers had signed James Roberts to partner Joey Leilua in the centres.
The Tigers also made a serious play for Josh Mansour before he signed for Souths a fortnight ago.
Momirovski’s release request is the third such demand from a different Tigers players in the last 18 months after Ryan Matterson and Josh Aloiai both asked to leave.
The difference for both those players is that they were walk-up starters for the Tigers being lured away by bigger deals.
Momirovski, meanwhile, is not guaranteed regular football in 2021 and wants to play every week in his preferred position.
Matterson joined Parramatta after skipping training and being put on a period of leave while Aloiai moved to Manly after frustrations in negotiations with the Tigers.

Interesting.... Was at training today and Mommers was the only player not up and about. In fact he looked miserable.

The remainder of the squad all came and had a chat, introducing themselves to my kids, which leaves a massive impression on them.

Kicking stones expertly executed

Its what happens when the club continually gives in to sooks. Players know they just have to whinge to the media, not put in at training and mope around until we hear the situation is untenable. he has seen the club fold to others so why not give it a go.

I believe after the Matterson situation we have grown as a club.. People think we just released Josh A to Manly for nothing but in fact we got a SOO quality player in his prime and also got money from Manly. When you release a player you don't have to have another player in return from that same club and I have full faith in the club in this Momo situation as well.

Anyone know if Laurie is a goal kicker?

Asking for a friend.. 😀

ADs strike rate at the end of the year was pretty good . His percentage was brought down by his abysmal start . I’d say as the year went on he became more comfortable , and I’d also argue that his strike Nd purchase of the ball are pretty awesome.

If memory recalls properly Doueihi had a leg muscle injury which hampered his kicking in 2020?

Yea that as well apparently . Do people remember momo missing from in front to lose us a game ? Or did I imagine that ?

Yes recall against the Bulldogs.
We should never had been in that position to kick a goal to Tie the game on fulltime, also leading at the break, Bulldogs were bottom of ladder again attitude thought we only had to show up to Win.

see match stats below Momo he also scored 2 tries....

I’m merely using this as an example that he isn’t the goal kicking messiah , and in fact his on field skill is probably a more apt way of assessing his talent . That’s all.

Well you should not state for losing the game, his overall stats were quite good and he did perform, just making my point but all good.

Agree Goal kicking in recent seasons have cost us playing finals might again this year unless % improve.

Madge not keen on moving him on and i tend to agree if other don't perform he will be playing 1st grade and he needs to realize that this club gives him more opportunity with those who are in front of him.

Mate, you see the irony here. All those that want Momo gone, based on a single newspaper article and a forum contributor who thought he looked upset at training, are condoning exactly the same behaviour from Diane Laurie, our saviour. JL was public enemy No 1 last season, JTJ has been punted by 5 different clubs, TT hasn’t shown anything near what his raps indicate and Momo is a try scorer and goal kicker with experience at 2 premiership winning clubs. Do these people even watch football?

LOL , are you serious ? The issue with the tigers is a lack of dynamic players , who can break a deadlock , and change the outcome of a game . Or simply finish off a half break from a distance . This is what people are talking about .
We have always had good attacking structures throughout our history , but recently , it’s this quality which we have lacked .
Joey , has been told to have a long hard look in the mirror of which he has responded . Jimmy has had a horrendous childhood full of sexual abuse , and abandonment. And only recently in the last year , has he started to open up , and try and find something cathartic, in a really messed up story . Talau who is the next drop , is a sought after impact centre , who could be anything .
And then There’s Kei . One of the most talked about juniors I’ve seen on here , who many good judges think is going to be a star.

Yes we arch footy . But we clearly watch a lot closer than you do. Quoting tries and goal kicks .

So what you’re trying to tell me is your two first choice centres have been told to have a long hard look at themselves or find something cathartic, but a bloke who scores 14 tries in 19 games doesn’t rate.

Lol you can spin it anyway you want , but if I’m a coach , and I’ve got a guy in my team who I can throw a cutout ball to, and know he can do an in and away and score an 80m try , I want hat bloke in my team . Or if I can put a bloke in my team who one on one , is near on unstoppable, yea I want that guy in my team.
What do you think it’s a coincidence that every single winger to play outside Joey has high teens in the try scoring department ?
Just by him being there , created space for players if you know how to use him.
Momo does not do that . With momo you slide onto to him, hold your ground , and wait for the block play to unveil itself , as you can trust your probably going to make that tackle .
This is my knowledge of rugby league .
That the guy who sets up the try , a lot of the time isn’t even the guy who touches ball . With guys like BJ and JTJ you have to respect and acknowledge them , because they can absolutely destroy you , if you don’t . Who’s ever said that about MOMO?

I’ll give you that about JL, but not JTJ. That they don’t say that about Momo is because he’s only 19 games in. Please, 5 clubs don’t ask you to leave if you’re any good.

Google maps St Lukes Park north, just near the Cintra netballd courts. If you get there around Midday you’ll see them in full flight.

Haha haha. So magically, JTJ at 26 is going to transform into the messiah because you read something somewhere in a comic book. Give yourself an uppercut.

I met him at a club event just before Christmas and he was the same then as well. I took it as him being shy.

Yep it’s jusr his personality. Comes across as a pretty shy kid

That’s sad if true. I met Momo recently and he happily did a video message for my kids... BTW, I’ve heard a few people mention they attended training. Is training open to the public? If so how do we find out when to attend?

Google maps St Lukes Park north, just near the Cintra netballd courts. If you get there around Midday you’ll see them in full flight.

Thank you

And if that is your knowledge of rugby league, start watching Soccer.

I don’t care what you give me . You’ve got no idea . It’s obvious with every word you say . If you would you’d understand how out of touch you are , with the reasons why JTJ can be anything , and the reasons why he sabotaged himself previously . If your not 16 year old school kid , I feel sorry for you .

Haha haha. So magically, JTJ at 26 is going to transform into the messiah because you read something somewhere in a comic book. Give yourself an uppercut.

What ? Wow ! You absolutely suck at this human game . Maybe you should try something else . The guy has had some serious stuff to get through , and you sound like you have no idea , how a guy with those kind of issues can be toxic to himself and others . It’s with admitting the issue, seeking help , and finding people around you who care that you can truely try to heal , and become most importantly a good person you can be proud of . .
This is why I support him , as , he sounds like the kind of guy I want to back . And he’s a talented footballer who leaves plodders like momo in his dust .

And if that is your knowledge of rugby league, start watching Soccer.

Someone makes a break, jet backs up, try
Opposition makes a break, jet hunts them down, try saved
Jet makes a break himself, try
Not hard to understand why hes a gamechanger

Agreed mate, I am always happy to support someone who owns their mistakes. He has always seemed to this and doesn't hide from his issues or mistakes. When he needs help he usually puts his hand up and seeks that support.

5 Clubs can ask you to leave if you are good, if the reason is something other that playing ability (off field issues). The real point is that 5 clubs dont keep signing someone on big money unless you are VERY good.

Same here. I'd love to see him do well for the Tigers but I'd love to see him turn his life around for himself.

Just taking a stab in the dark but my theory is Momirovski asked for a release to join the Dogs. The club said no but if you want to go to Penrith so we can get Laurie we would be open to that. He doesn’t want to go to Penrith because he will be playing reggies there too. Now we have a Mexican standoff.

Or it is nothing like that and I’m just making things up in my head again 🤷‍♂️
