Rothfield reporting McInnes has signed with the Sharks.

If true, damn. Would have loved him

4 years, $500k per season. Seems a fair price tbh.

Yeah mate. Real good price

But my god, imagine being a Dragons fan. That would be a slog.

Truer words have not spoken for some time on here. They're more likeable than many teams though...possibly due to this ineptitude

If Brooks doesn't improve, Tanah Boyd is the first guy we should target. Seems like he won't be in the starting team in the GC and is young and very talented.

No Thanks. NMN

A 20 year old junior rep star is a nuffie? Sure. As long as brooks doesn't repeat 2020 we will be fine anyway

No chance Tanah Boyd is moved on. He played all his junior football with David Fifita.

He just signed for another 2 years

Not sure were to post it, but CHN and Horsborough caught drink driving. Would think theyd miss the start of the season and we have them up first!

TIGERS

McInnes’ decision to join the Sharks is the latest blow to the Tigers’ often criticised recruitment and retention program.

The Tigers were desperate to fill the void left by the departure of Harry Grant at hooker when the right player became available and McInnes certainly fit the bill.

The club has missed out on signing stars like Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo-Carr in recent years and let stars James Tedesco, Aaron Woods, Mitchell Moses and Ryan Papenhuyzen join other clubs.

The Tigers have been accused of being doormats for the rest of the competition with players both unwilling to join the club and unwilling to stay there.

The club currently has Jacob Liddle, who has had a history of long-term injuries and Billy Walters, who is returning form a knee injury as their hooker options.

Tigers and New Zealand coach Michael Maguire is keen to lure Brandon Smith from the Storm, but he is one of the most sought after signatures in the game, so it will be difficult for the club to land him.

With Moses Mbye stepping down from the captaincy McInnes would have solved the No.9 and leadership holes at the club, but now it is back to the drawing board.

The Tigers have now missed out on three hooker targets in Harry Grant, Blayke Brailey and McInnes, but they may have another crack at Brailey now that his future at Cronulla is uncertain.

Hahahaha this makes me laugh.. pathetic media bashing us

I would say that we wanted to get him as a lock and he wants to play hooker. Between liddle and Simpkin I think we have the number 9 covered.

Rubbish journalism as usual. We never missed out on Harry, he was signed with the storm, Brailey was the next big thing for the sharks and I doubt wouldve signed anywhere else and we enquired about Mcinnes and never even tabled an offer by the sound of it. Must be a unwritten rule, if there's a quiet day in sporting journalism, lay the boot into WTs for something to do.

We obviously had the money so i think your spot on,plus 4yrs is to long to carry him at his age.I have confidence in Hartigans ability to get value for money. We don't really know the ability of some of our CC squad or of others we are looking at.

We have recruited as well as any team this off season.

Chammas reporting Israel Folau to Dragons for 2 years.

Link?

St George Illawarra have submitted a formal application to the NRL in the hope of signing Israel Folau on a two-year deal.

The Herald can reveal the Dragons have formally approached the NRL about acquiring Folau's services from this season to play in the centres, with the governing body set to consider allowing the dual international to return to the sport.

ARLC chairman Peter V'landys previously indicated the door was all but shut on Folau to return to the sport after the controversy surrounding his religious beliefs during his time in rugby union.

However the NRL has recently indicated to the Dragons that it will consider the application and will not make a decision until they have reviewed the proposal and spoken to the relevant parties.

The Dragons board has approved the approach, while the club has also informed its major sponsors of its intention to sign Folau. St George Illawarra chief executive Ryan Webb confirmed the club was in the process of luring the former Queensland and Australian representative to the Dragons.

“We are always on the lookout for great players,” Webb told the Herald. “We have enquired with the NRL about Israel and we will work with them to hopefully see him join us in 2021.

"We understand there will be a range of opinions in regards to this decision, but we believe he would be a good addition to our club."

Folau was meant to play for Catalans in the Super League this year, but returned home over the summer after the birth of his first child. The news of the Dragons' potential signing of Folau comes on the day they lost skipper Cameron McInnes to the Sharks from next season on a four year deal worth around $2.2 million.

When V'landys was appointed as chair of the commission, he was asked about the prospect of allowing Folau back into the sport.

"The game is inclusive. Israel's comments are not inclusive," V'landys said at the time. "When I was a kid and kids used to get bashed up because they were different, I used to go and defend them. And a lot of them, it's because their role models or their peers made them that way.

"I have no tolerance for people that put other people's lives [at risk] or [commit] violence. It's a big statement to make. With due respect to Israel, what he says, young kids listen to. He is a role model. They act on it. And when you're a kid at school and you get bashed up because you're different, I don't think that's a good thing."

The only way to prove them wrong is to win games. We are considered a contender for the spoon this year. I'd love to see us make the 8.
