The single best signing this year will be our signing of stephen crichton for 2022 ,, The reported offer by Penrith is totally wrong.
As at todays date West TIgers has the best offer for his services.
While this is taking a long time to finally happen i remain very confident he is going to WT...

Crichton, Luai and Yeo all staying at Penrith... Just sorting out money and how the deals are constructed (front ending some and back ending others).

Hartigan interested in Egan Butcher, Roosters may have issues keeping him as they are looking to re-sign Angus Chricton, Tupou, Billy Smith and Sam Walker.

Sivo and Staggs being shopped by their managers for huge money. Brandon Smith has a big offer from the Warriors.

Any idea who the club is most interested in for 2022? Egan Butcher for this year or next?

2022

Not much this year - patient approach, waiting to see who comes available between now and the start of the season. They've learnt from seasons past and are not just going to throw money at anyone that comes available. If nothing favourable comes up, likely to promote from within.

Hey mate do you know who the hookers and wingers will be this years

POM mentioned earlier Liddle looks likely to start at #9 however isn't ruling out having Simpkins on the bench as cover

If you're talking depth then I guess there is Walters when he comes back from injury

Thanks mate. I’ll click it if Simpkin not in 17.

Wonder if aj or talau got the other wing spot??

No idea about that wing spot, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't one of those two

Laurels Mitchell has reportedly rejected his 3 year, $2.4million contract extension offer from Souths.... anyone keen on another Latrell thread? ?

Bit surprising really, think most people expected him to stay a while there. Apparently he's had some talks with Brisbane

Good i hope they implode

lol@souffs

That would be awesome, one because it is Wayne Bennett, and two because they are one of the chosen clubs, please be true

Well I must say I am a little disappointed we didn't land McInnes
I'm not 100% sure we did make an offer but I believe that Cam would have been a fantastic acquisition to our team
Just in the defensive line alone he would have made a big difference
And the extra leadership in the defensive line
Do get me wrong, I am happy with the signings we have made, but I feel a proven and current top line signing is missing

Some where along the line this club must sign a player that is one of the best in his position

The thing that I dont understand is in 2022 we will have treasure chest full of gold to spend on players
Yet players like JAC and McInnes have gone elsewhere for 2022 already
All clubs have the same cap to spend
Who are we spending our cap on
Who are our $1'000'000 players for 2022
We will have the $
And we need to spend it
But 🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗

The only hope i see for us this year and next lays in our current crop

Here's a news item to add a couple of 100 pages to this thread.

TIGERS KEEPING TABS ON HASTINGS
There has been a strong rumour doing the rounds for the past week that talented halfback Jackson Hastings is poised to join the Wests Tigers.

Hastings has been the star No.7 in England over the past couple of seasons and has been back in Oz during the holiday period.

Throw in that the Tigers have lost two veteran playmakers in Benji Marshall and Josh Reynolds - and question marks remaining over Luke Brooks - and it seems a perfect fit.

But I've done some digging and it seems that Hastings is set to see out the second year of his contract with Super League club Wigan.

After that, however, the classy halfback is likely to be ready to come home - and don't be surprised if the Tigers are first in line for his services.

I find that astonishing, if true.

Courier mail saying there's 12 clubs interested in signing him. Gonna be interesting to see what happens.

POM confirmed that talks were had but were initiated by Hastings management.

So he is off to the Dogs to join his mate then

Man, McInnis is 177cm tall and 91kg heavy.
It is expecting a Brooksie or Madden to play lock.
Big props up to McInnis for playing that role but he is not going to survive long term unless he puts on another 10kg.

I would be surprised if he ended up there. They've got a lot of stars in their back line already and he'll probably look to earn fullback money

Did we not learn anything from the latrell Mitchel saga? Never listen to anything the media said he probably knocked it back because he wants an extra year or he isn’t happy with the terms of the contract it’s part of negotiation

McInnes? He wasn't offered a contract to knock back?

So did i read correctly that we are still in the running to get Stephen Crichton ?
Of course if correct I would be stocked but unlikely .
Have we offered him a contact ? Do we have a timeframe on a decision yet (for 2022 I know) ?

Not that I know anything solid on that front but I would imagine that our recruitment people have been burnt too many times to broadcast any offers to any high flyers like Crichton.
So I don’t expect that anyone on here except perhaps for “The Pom” would be in the know ..... so I’ll wait for official announcements.

Was reported last week that he's signed to stay at Penrith

That's what I thought but Panthers have not announced it which got me thinking maybe something might be going on behind closed doors.. Might also be the reason they are holding firm on Daine L.

Radley is basically same playing weight only 5cm taller and he's elite

Not saying they're the same player but it can be done

Not offical in any way and would like to hear from @THE_POM or someone else with inside info, but I am hearing (from the old friend of a friend of McInnes) that we didn't even formally make an offer to McInnes - Maguire/Hartigan met and chatted but no official interest from us. Not that that matters for certain journo's etc......

That's 100% correct no formal offer was put forward to McInnes or his management, catch up was to gage exactly where he was at & his thoughts on playing position which at the time was Hooker or nothing else hence discussions didn't really eventuate further.
Seems McInnes has had a re-think on his Hooker stance.

Any more movement on the Laurie situation? Or anything else worth sharing?

Laurie situation is at a stalemate unless Panthers come to the party I don't see anything changing at the moment.
All quiet on most things elsewhere, plenty to happen in the market prior to round 1. McInnes situation will now make the Sharks look at moving someone on in an attempt to bring him early which will create a ripple in the market.
I know Hartigan/Madge want 29 players signed up prior to the end of the month with the train & trial players more likely to fill those spots.
In relation to Hastings, I know Hartigan has had a conversation with Jackson directly but nothing else, it was started by his management looking for interested parties for 2022.

Thanks POM seems we must have quite a bit of cap space leftover after missing JAC and considering what Harry would have set us back. We going to front end some deals you think?

I think Wayne Bennett is done after this year? If so, I imagine he might not be interested in staying at Souths w/o Wayne.

Yes I agree with that. I could be wrong, McInnis could become the Shaun Fensom / Dallas Johnson of the Sharks.
