That’s 100% correct no formal offer was put forward to McInnes or his management, catch up was to gage exactly where he was at & his thoughts on playing position which at the time was Hooker or nothing else hence discussions didn’t really eventuate further.
Seems McInnes has had a re-think on his Hooker stance.

There is no better way to evaluate someone and each others intentions than a face to face meeting,phone calls emails etc just dont give you that information

I know that a lot of us are curious about who will play 13,but,I reckon Madge is no fool and the 13 is an important position to fill...Even though we havent recruited a known 13,Madge may have been working with one of our squad members to fill the void in 2021..
He is there everyday working with this squad and surely has had someone within that position readying for the trials or rnd1...
Who that player is,only Madge knows at this point in time...
I have faith in Madge to fill that void with an astute player...Who knows what may eventuate from the trial game(s).....

The Courier Mail reports the Rabbitohs offered Mitchell a three-year deal but it was knocked back by the club's management.

"I can confirm we've had some discussions with the Broncos," a spokesman for Mitchell's management told the Courier Mail.

"We spoke just prior to Christmas.

"At this stage, despite reports Latrell is a done deal at Souths, we haven't finalised anything.

"Souths have tried to put a deal together that will reflect Latrell's market value, but we've made it clear we aren't looking for a long-term deal."

While South Sydney remain confident of keeping Mitchell, the star's representative has received interest from at least 12 teams in the NRL, with the "When they aren't on top of the NRL, they are a sleeping giant and it is only a matter of time before they bounce back again. The Broncos are arguably the biggest brand in Australian sport."

Mitchell's move to fullback was under the microscope during the early stages of the transition, but he was clearly adapting well during the 2020 season despite suffering a hamstring injury that cut his year short.

From 14 games with South Sydney at fullback - Mitchell had 15 try-assists and 26 line breaks and looked more confident in executing his duties at the back.

Although injury issues held him back last year, the two-time premiership winner still believes his value is best served through a shorter deal, posing more of risk to his overall value on the market. Broncos being one of several suitors.

15 try assists and 26 linebreaks?!? I feel like I would have known about it if he'd made 26 linebreaks....According to NRL stats he made 3 linebreaks in his 14 games and had 11 try assists.

Easier said then done Managers are always looking for ways to push their players barrows the more people that are aware a player is looking around the better its called MARKET PRESSURE the more pressure the better the contract

The Cam McInness > Cronulla is my case in point. Multiple meetings and an outcome and not a sniff in the papers.

I think Mitchell is a huge talent,but his attitude to training and association with some of the big mouths in the game to me spells trouble,He is not worth the risk for this money.

It's also because the Sharks have a tiny fan base, and we have one of the largest. They make a lot of money from ads everytime they write about us. Write about the Sharks, Canberra, Titans and no one really cares. Tigers, Souths and Parra is money in the bank.

Been thinking that as well. Madge is very hands on but might make sense to let Hartigan do the public meetings, he’s a lot less recognisable.

Madge should just coach,and leave recruitment and statements to the experts,thats what they were brought to the club for,and it is working.

Very happy we missed out signing Latrell despite his undoubted talents as a footballer. Now it seems he's demanding a series of short term deals with the opportunity to get a pay increase every year or so rather than the 3 year deal Souths are offering. Way too high maintenance for me!
