Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Naden was up there with list of faces that need a punching

All is forgiven once he comes here

As long as he does the shush thing he did to us when we smash panthers

Isnt naden indigneous?

If we can get some good young players I'd be happy. Build from within over time and keep your homegrown talent. We'd need to recruit 3 - 4 stars if we were to turn this around quickly and that's just not who we are. The losing and the manner of our losses will not help us attract anyone either.

The DT has an article saying Tigers are closing in on a 2 year deal for Naden - Does anyone have access to read this and maybe paste on page?
I think he will play well and won't cost a lot.

It’s 1 page back ....

Tigers reportedly in talks to extend Lucianos contract but are unlikely to keep Joey after this year. Seems like the smart choice

Wow that’s surprising about Joey. Did they give a reason why?

I wouldn't say that's surprising. Joey has done buggerall for us since joining and it's 550k that can be better spent elsewhere.

I was being sarcastic Willow. The sooner he’s moved on the better.

Sense of humour
Some of us get it
Some of us take a little longer
I have to have it to get by
Happy has lost it
A bit like the the guy on Jumangi who lost his marbles
But he will get it back
Eventually

Happy never had it! ?

Had what

Marbles

Anyone know what the story with TPJ is? That's the type of player we lack...aggressive, runs hard, busts tackles and offloads at will.

I've noticed the broncos have extended young gun Piakura, as well as Riki. Maybe there's a chance.

Too inconsistent I reckon, only has about 3 good games a year

*"As much as we’d love it to happen, the reality is it’s a hundred to one given the history between the champion little no.7 and Tigers coach Michael Maguire.

Maguire was notorious during his tenure at South Sydney for pushing players to play no matter the circumstances."*

So, does this mean Reynolds is another cotton wool baby.......

No Dazza ...just has to be managed correctly at this stage of his career ..like Baa had to be at the Dogs

I get that now, but are we assuming Pooper means based on what Reynolds saw back then, he won't be managed well now?? or was it that Madge forced Reynolds to played injured back then..... - I just though the comment from the Poopster was a bit vague....as usual

Souths players mentioned it as well .....how long did Harry Grant play with his injured hand for example

I even mentioned it before the Warriors game , rest a few players

Naden does not fit my profile of a good signing unless he is on very little money. If we are paying him anything greater than $350k per season it would be a no from me. If we have to make him in our top half of high paid players then we are screwing ourselves long term strategically.

Just because you have a band aid on doesn't mean you can't work
I have battled with plantar fasciitis every day for the last six months and I am on my feet all day manufacturing and lifting heavy tops
Some times you just have to keep on going
I'll send them a box of Nurofen

There's a difference though between asking a player to play when they're injured, and when they're not 100%. How many players are at 100% every week? Few i imagine. Does he force a player with a broken wrist or strained hammy to come back early? I seriously doubt it.

Strongers clubs may be able to give players a week off here or there to heal those bruises, we don't have the quality or depth to do so.

Yeah i'm not a big fan of Naden

If we could get him immediately then ok, we need immediate reinforcements out wide. Sign him on an 18 month contract at 200k with a club option for another year at 300k. That's all he deserves.

He's unproven and with a lot of off field issues. He's not exactly significantly better than what we have now, we can't afford to give long contracts to players who are 50/50 chances of mostly playing nsw cup. He's got to prove himself otherwise he'll be here for the cushy job

Tigers seem to be developing a fairly strong indigenous connection across the various grades. Naden may fit right in and feel at home with a heap of fellow indigenous players around him. No doubt the bloke has talent however definitely needs to stay off the bags, especially the night before a game. If he came reasonably cheap then he's not the worst signing.

Is there a reason we have been so quiet in the player market recently?
I assume there is cap room.
Many other teams are making moves.
Are we targeting specific players or are we being over looked?
It's pretty clear we need some upgrades/depth.

I would assume waiting for the right type of player at the right price. There's definitely a need for outside backs and an edge backrower. We have plenty of depth at Prop, hooker options seem set, full back set and for the most part for now I'd say halves are set.
