We're building for a NSW Cup legacy. A lot of depth w Naden and Lumelume in addition to what we have already in reserves. Lume is another AJ for mine.

Isaac Liu a left field choice. Good defender?

Good defender, good runner of the footy and a good link man. Doesn't get the praise he deserves at roosters but he's been an integral part of their team/system for a long time. He's a good lock for sure, only downside is that he's in his 30's now.

Brent Naden's terms for 2022 & 23 have been agreed upon, Talk ongoing to see if there's a chance of getting him this year (made all more desperate now with AJ's injury).
Club has been talking to Isaac Lumelume's management about an early release to bolster this years backline, nothing eventuated as yet, not ruled out as a 2022 signing.

Semi Valemei (Raiders), Nene McDonald (Sharks) & Tevita Funa (Sea Eagles) have been mentioned as possible depth signings before June 30.

Not bad. I don't mind Funa as a player probably the best of the 3 mentioned there. Naden early would be really nice

Lumelume would be a brilliant signing

I haven't seen to much of him but seems decent. Thought he might've got a run at Melbourne this year though

He's very quick and tall from memory.

Yeah I remember him being a big tall dude. Only played 3 games I think

Why would Hastings be a new low?

I informed a friend of mine. He and his family have links to Illawarra footy. His first comment is why do some coaches believe they are the exception when others have failed (in relation to recruiting players who have a history)? This is the same gentleman who pointed out a young 16 year old Ryan Girdler as a future star. I listen when someone of that background makes comment.

No offence intended mate but I dont think we should entirely write off this potential signing based on your mate who has connections to Illawarra footy.

No offence taken. But if we are considering or have signed Hastings, I despair for our club and its future.

What did Hastings actually do? No one has ever said. He also seems to have matured a lot after being exiled.

Blow up witb DCE and most of the other players in the team was the last thing I remember. He didn't seem to get along with many people wherever he went.

And this is what I mean. He's essentially been run out of the country based on a bad attitude at this point. I assume he did something really nasty off field that has been ignored or covered up because he's a nobody

He was only 22 at the time and some young men do not mature as quickly as others. If ruffling the feathers of a few ego's is the worst he has done I think he is probably entitled some leeway. His price tag would be thing I am most concerned about. He is still relatively unproven here.

Coming down to $$$ Hastings management obviously using his current status in the Super League to ask for decent coin, but club being wary. 1st year to be modest with incentives once proven he can match it back in the NRL.

Any talk of locking Simpkin up mate

Simpkin & Luciano are the clubs re-signing priority. Both will have something sorted prior to coming to market in November.

Jackson Hastings is set to sign a two-year deal to join Wests Tigers next season.

Sources with knowledge of negotiations expect a formal announcement within the next 48 hours as the clubs finalise the paperwork that will ensure Hastings' return to the NRL after three years in the UK Super League.

Jackson Hastings will return to the NRL at the Wests Tigers next season.
As reported by the Herald last month, the Wests Tigers reached out to Hastings’ manager in the hope of luring him back to Australia immediately.

Wigan insist Hastings will not be released before the end of the season, but the Tigers are privately hoping things change in the coming months and might be able to add the 25-year-old to their roster.

The Tigers have close to $600,000 to spend on this year’s salary cap, which has largely been cleared by the departure of Josh Reynolds to the Super League and Harry Grant’s return to Melbourne.


The Tigers left money aside in case Cameron Smith opted to continue playing with the Storm and triggered a clause in Grant’s contract that would have allowed him to sign with a rival club.

Hastings' signature will provide the Tigers with a utility option to cover for the expected departure of Billy Walters to link with his dad Kevin at the Brisbane Broncos.

@THE_POM has there been any talk about making a play for CHN to bolster our second row. He doesn't seem to be getting any first grade time at the Raiders.

Agree, but what happened years ago, was years ago. By all accounts he is killing it England, he is worth looking at.

We need players who can play.

Yes it provides further depth but does it provide the extra skill factor we need to match it with the top 4-6 sides?
