How about we talk about signing players in positions we need? Any centres or wingers around?

We might be the only team who will greatly improve by signing outside backs ? second rower would be nice too

If we’re looking at moving AD back to 6 we’ll need 2 x wingers and 2 x centres.

Realistically they'll keep Nofa but yes we really do need a whole new backline - I don't really care if they're not super attacking players we just need them to defend.

Of course they will, they’re too gutless to even drop him.

Hynes is good but where would we play him? We have a fullback, we have a 5/8 and he's not a halfback.... he'd be an excellent 14 but he's not leaving storm to be a utility.

Wherever he wants . At this stage he's a more complete footballer than our7, 6, and 1.
Last week he carried his team on his back.
Seen any of ours do that lately?

'Wherever he wants' is not good business - unless we move on Brooks he doesn't really have a spot here and can understand why the club wouldn't be after him.

We need wingers and centres and second rowers a lot more than another spine player. He's good but I don't see him playing as well outside of the Melbourne system either.

He has a spot at 1 in my team - You say we have a FB, we can always do with a FB that is a lot better and Hynes eats Laurie at the moment. Laurie has much to learn and I can see another Brooks scenario coming up, 3 or 4 seasons we'll still be saying, "Oh! he will be a lot better next year." Laurie needs to go back to Reggies like Simpkin and learn his trade - e.g. organise the team line, learn to tackle, improve an almost non existent kicking game, chime into the backline and be part of it. When he can do all that he will be as good as Nico Hynes.

As far as playing outside the Melbourne system - he can do it himself (not like a Blair that had one job to do) but how did players like Kimmorley, Widdup and GI go after they left the Storm. Hynes makes his own breaks, sets up plays for others etc. he does not totally rely on other players. This was no more in evidence than last weekend.

Yep can't say anything against Laurie even if it would benefit the team. Lol

Just like when Liddle gets dropped a certain poster goes missing ?
( won’t name anyone)

Washing the kingswood takes time and effort.

Jorge Tafua?

Peta Hiku just signed with NQ

Hiku would've been pretty decent actually, no thanks to Jorge. Daniel Tupou would make me very happy! I'd take a one legged Brett Morris too, Valemei is pretty decent too.

Wonder what's happening with Gildart

Few good backs @ The Canberra Raiders.
That Club is fittin' to implode.

Right for the picking one would think.
GO TIGERS

Yup good time to strike

But as per usual we won't unless the club wakes up and realises that it should go on the front foot for a change. I wonder if the club has contacted Tapines missus?

We might be the only team who will greatly improve by signing outside backs 😂 second rower would be nice too

Because we won't fix the problems we have just by looking at who might be the best single position upgrades in isolation. The team as a whole has some pretty fundamental problems that are not going to be fixed by just putting a better centre or winger in place. We need more opportunities created for our outside backs. We need someone to take charge in the opposition 20 and in crunch times. We need someone to help coordinate our defense and get numbers where they need to be.

I think Hynes can help to improve us in all of those areas. Given the particular deficiencies that we have in the rest of the spine, I think he would be a big upgrade to **this** team. In other teams that have a dominant half or have very good defensive structures the situation would be quite different and Hynes may offer little over Laurie, but we have neither of those things...

There was a reason (you wouldn't know tho') to busy trying to put the boot in as usual.

I did not post because I was giving Liddle's replacement whilst in the NRL, time to show his super star qualities that everyone had been going on about for months.

Unfortunately he did not show us anything, so I started to post again.

Now Hobbo, is that ok with you, sorry I didn't come grovelling to you to ask permission, if you were going to allow me to do that.

As you are my favourite poster I was worried about you ..
I thought you had kicked the bucket mate .
Geez ..

I’ve read a lot of reports he’s got a big ego for some one who isn’t that good…
He’s always been a flyweight with speed and not much else.

Sounds like Nofo but with speed.

For the right money, i like Duffy, maybe because he can create and score tries, which nobody in our backline has the ability to do . Suspect in defence ? Well our whole backline suffers from this disease. Better then Laurie? Yes at this stage! A good buy? ???

Ken Maumolo languishing in reserves at Warriors because they think he has ‘defensive problems’.
We would consider him as a good defender.🤣

besides who leaves a hotel room and then walks into the next club with the accused rapists laughing and carrying on when the security guard was right there.

This level of ignorance is almost beyond comprehension.

clearly wasn't for the jury, the defense pushed that a fair bit from all reports and the jury obviously had enough question marks over it

From my understanding it only takes one jury member to say not guilty
The other 11 can say guilty
Yet he walks
It would be interesting to see what the split was but we will never know

At the end of the day no one wins in this case
Lives are ruined
I feel for Jacks partner who had no involvement in this what so ever and she was pregnant I believe
It would not be nice to carry that knowledge around with you for the rest of your life
I don't think a relationship can survive with this kind of thing hanging over the relationship
Especially when in the public eye
Jacks name is Mud Wether guilty or innocent
Wether he raped the woman or not, what he did behind his partners back was wrong and now she needs to learn to live with it
And the woman, Victim in question, how does she go on if she was actually raped and wasn't believed. What effect does it have on her mental state

We should all be mindful of that

There is one big lesson here for all of us
Don't drink to excess

Raiders eye Hynes as Tigers close in on Gildart

Canberra are weighing up whether to join the race for Melbourne’s rising star Nicho Hynes after the club outlined the frustrations that led to the sudden axing of English halfback George Williams.

The likely return of Williams to Wigan is expected to coincide with confirmation that England Test centre Oliver Gildart is heading to the NRL to join Wests Tigers next year but the Super League has ruled out releasing him or teammate Jackson Hastings for the remainder of this season.

With Canberra’s finals hopes fading after just one win in their past seven matches, the Raiders are also looking beyond this season in the search for a replacement playmaker and Hynes has emerged as a possible target.

The 24-year-old is currently starring for the Storm at fullback in place of the injured Ryan Papenhuyzen but he has played most of his 65 matches in the Queensland Cup at five-eighth and has also spent time at halfback.

Shaun Johnson, Ash Taylor, Anthony Milford and Corey Norman are more experienced options off contract at the end of the season but the prospect of Hynes partnering Jack Wighton in the halves is likely to have more appeal in Canberra.

After losing the 2019 grand final to the Roosters in controversial circumstances and making last year's preliminary final, the Raiders have suffered a dramatic fall from grace and face big calls on the futures of off-contract veterans Iosia Soliola, Dunamis Lui and Jordan Rapana, as well as England hooker Josh Hodgson.

Hodgson, who has been linked with Brisbane, recently quit as co-captain and has been outspoken over the exit of Williams, while indicating he may not be keen to remain in Canberra if he wasn’t in the starting side after being selected on the interchange for the past two matches.

After the Raiders announced on Tuesday that Williams had been granted an immediate release, the English international tweeted that he had been “kicked out the door”.

However, Canberra officials responded on Thursday by detailing how after having a request for a release at the end of the season rejected on Monday night, Williams had advised that he couldn’t train on Tuesday and may not be available for Saturday night’s match against on Sydney Roosters.

The Raiders had received numerous requests from Williams for a release at the end of the season to return home with his pregnant partner but were putting in place measures to support them, including an offer for them to spend an extended off-season in England with family.

"George’s final request for a release came on Monday evening. The following day George withdrew from training and the upcoming match against the Roosters,” a statement said.

“This decision prompted the club to offer George an immediate release given the stress this was evidently causing he and his partner, thereby giving them the opportunity to return home earlier.

“As a club, we have a duty to act in the best interests of the club, its members, sponsors and supporters. Sometimes the best interests of the club do not match those of an individual.

“The club therefore determined that granting George an immediate release would allow us to plan better for the club’s future.

“We would like to reiterate that it was the club’s overwhelming preference to keep George until the end of next season, as he is a good person, well-liked and a valuable member of our club.

“However, when this situation became untenable, we needed to act in the best interests of the club and our future.”

Wigan coach Adrian Lam has confirmed the Super League club are in talks to sign Williams.

Warrington and Leeds are also thought to be keen on the 26-year-old but Wigan having first refusal on his services as a condition of his release to join Canberra last year.

Wigan also have space in their salary cap after releasing George Burgess and will be permitted to include just £75,000 of Williams’ contract in the salary cap because he is a product of the club.

As a result, Wigan are under no pressure to release any player to accommodate Williams and it is understood they have already advised the Tigers that Hastings will see out the season in England.

The former Roosters and Manly halfback has signed with the Tigers for next season and a deal for Gildart to join him is believed to be close to being finalised.

Living at Canberra sounds so appealing.

We should go hard for falise kaufusi of contract at the end of the year with a player option
Origin level second row
Consistent week to week
Great in defence
Obviously has a great attitude if he has lasted this long at Melbourne
