Thanks @THE_POM , are we looking at anyone else??
Brisbane have closed the door on Issako (For now), don't think they expected the backlash from the well documented trip, Every chance Walters will still be released to free up another roster spot.
James Roberts has all but sealed his option being activated for 2022. Leilua not looking likely he'll be here, was briefly discussed that they'll let the option expire & then re-negotiate terms with BJ on a lesser deal but have to see if he's keen on that.
Discussion with re-signing Luciano have begun & everyone involved is confident something will be confirmed prior to November 1st
Thanks Pom, hope we’re not paying JTJ any more money, apart from finishing a couple of tries on the weekend, what has he done?! Needs to prove he actually wants to be a footy player. I hope we hold off for another month.
His option for 2022 is only 50k more than this year.
But he's still done nothing to warrant an extension at this stage. Friday was his first decent game, and even then he wasn't targeted in defence once all game. Did he even make a tackle?
Even if he's cheap he takes up a squad position that isn't going to the likes of Ogden. We already have Hoffman and Kei next season taking up space next season, we can't fill out the squad with a whole heap of sub par players.
100% BB - surely we should be giving the likes of these priority and spending the dollars in other key positions?!
It’s like we just want to make the same mistakes over and over. Average, mid to late 20s players and forget everyone else.
Why do we even bother with a youth push?

100% BB - why do we even bother with a youth strategy that seems to be working? Targets of average mid to late 20s that nobody else want.
There's been a massive focus on youth and junior development but you can't fill your whole squad with them, you need some experienced first graders.
Same mistakes over and over. We embarked on a proper youth strategy a couple of years ago which seems to be working and now we are bringing in average players who really aren’t worth the prices they are asking and being discarded by others for a reason, mind you. That’s not how youth get experience in first grade.
What duds have we signed and who's spot are they taking.... we desperately need a winger, what young winger is standing out?
Talau can barely catch a footy and we can't afford to have him in first grade. DWZ fixes that problem. Madge has clearly shown he's willing to give rookies a go regardless of who's in the top 30, stop worrying about things that haven't happened.
Your whole team can't just be rookies who are finding their feet, you won't win games then the best ones leave for the big clubs - it's all about balancing youth and experience.
Madge and hartigan have been massive in the youth department, they know what they're doing in that regard. No need to worry about it just because we are wanting to sign a 25 year old New Zealand international in a position we desperately need. We've still got plenty of spots in our 30 next year
He must be good if clubs keep offloading - employers don’t ever let the god ones go.

100% BB - surely we should be giving the likes of these priority and spending the dollars in other key positions?!
It’s like we just want to make the same mistakes over and over. Average, mid to late 20s players and forget everyone else.
Why do we even bother with a youth push?

We've still got plenty of spots in our 30 next year
He must be good if clubs keep offloading him. Employers never let the good ones go.

The year he captained NZ at fullback he was a star.
I can see why Madge would be looking for a mix of experience and youth in the back line. DWZ on the wing would also be a good target for kicks and strong enough to do the dirty hit ups on early tackles.
There is some upside here but as with JTJ, Laurie, Luch, Joey, Stefano, Joe O, Blore and Tuki he is a gamble. None of them were at their peak when we bought them, either untested potential or not playing to the level they had previously (but not age related).
It is a cheaper and less risky way to build a team than paying huge overs for players at their peak, there could be a cliff tomorrow.

Money being the biggest issue for 2022, dogs expected to chip in around the $300-$350k mark, Tigers offering this season & 22/23
That would still leave us paying a good $500k for DWZ next year wouldn't it? Seems too much. Not against the signing, he's a solid enough winger but wouldn't pay a cent more than $400k a season, ideally $350k a season
This is were the negotiations are currently, you'll find his total value will be spread out over the length of the deal, secure long term future with a lower price.

DWZ is only 25 years old????
Feels like he's been playing for 10 years
All kiwis and polys lie about there age from under 6’s
He’s probably 32
What a racist and garbage statement.
Go do some knitting or something..

Sign that Guy..
You’d have to offer him a spine position I feel. Which is as much as he deserves, too talented to be limited to the centres and one side of the field
I don't care what position..He's a bloke you just want on the field..pay him whatever it takes..

Could be a very good signing or an ordinary signing....just remember some on here reckoned that Joe O had nothing to offer and under Madges guidance is now playing origin....

We've still got plenty of spots in our 30 next year
DWZ will be our experienced player dropping balls and playing the ball backwards.
He’s already moved in with Nofo
The Dogs get JAC
WTs get DWZ
?
I reckon JAC might be thinking DWZ got the better deal after a year with the dogs (if DWZ rumour is true)?
