Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Has anyone got definitive proof that the WTs are after DWZ/Sam or is it just a case of the usual Nrl media BS spin?…

Because going by the comments made by DWZ on his social media it’s the latter.

The Sam Burgess one I definitely don’t get. Wasn’t he the one that instigated the player revolt against Madge at South’s. Why the hell would Madge risk bringing that toxicity into WTs it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

No Sam B is on record saying he never had any issue with Madge or his approach to training.

There was a quote from the bulldogs that we had enquired about DWZ

I hope we have some recruitment targets outside of Gildart, Hastings, Dallin and Sam Burgess.

TBH the club is pretty tight lipped now and we are not getting much at all regarding players we are chasing ( A good thing I suppose because if we miss them media wont know).
Even @THE_POM has been off the mark a little lately ( and by no way am I saying that as a bad thing as I love it when he posts) We went up to Brisbane to talk to Issaako and TPJ apparently and nothing happened plus you add the DWZ update and then the dogs come out and say we enquired and nothing since then.. Obviously things change and out of the clubs control but I still have faith we will get some good players but just hate the waiting... I think you need to be pretty dame close to the inner circle to know what's actually happening..

I though I read somewhere that the Horses backed away from any issako/Pangai moves because of the backlash after the media reported it?

So sharks get hynes and good chance of finucane, dogs get ado Carr and Burton and we're looking at Dwz. ?
We must be the basket case of basket cases

Canterbury have tried to buy a team and are finding out the hard way that that's not how it works. We learnt that lesson a few years ago with Cleary. Addo-Carr and Burton are fine acquisitions but I much prefer the way we are going about recruitment.

Just because Ivan made some poor recruitment decisions doesn't mean you shouldn't target excellent, established players. Burton and Addo-Carr are excellent signings. They're getting rid of Dallin because they have signed players who are an upgrade on him. The fact Dallin would walk right into our team is an indictment of our backline recruitment.

Spot on.
Josh and Burton are great buys and would walk into our team. So would hynes.
We should be after finucane big time and if we miss out, questions should be asked. Especially if we are looking at dwz

You don't judge recruitment on players that you miss.

Why not?
You rate everything else to be a success on both ends of the equation, why not recruitment? If we are failing to sign players , we are doing something wrong.

You judge it on the players you do recruit as that is the only thing that is 100% in your control. Missing out on a player in not 100% in any clubs control.

So in regards to teams like Melbourne, souths, etc we are just as successful in our recruiting as we signed Hastings, Gillard??

We don't measure the latrell miss, ado Carr and any others we missed out on?

Seems like an excuse for mediocrity mate

You do realise that both those players, knocked us back and signed for less money with other clubs.

Here's the cruncher - the Tigers pulled their offer to each player.

That would indicate that we did not miss out on Latrine and JAC at all.

However you keep saying we did if it makes you feel better and it enhances your argument.

Let’s make this clear.

Latrell has said he didn’t want to come here because he wanted to craft into his fullback position, not hold the team together and look for him to make the big decision during the game..

Although I do agree the grub didn’t want to come here regardless, which is fine.. I never wanted him.

Jai Arrow has said:

"No disrespect to the Tigers, but the proud history of Souths and obviously Wayne Bennett and the coaching staff here is second-to-none,"

He chose south’s because he had been in the origin camp multiple times with Bennet and Dimitri.

As for Addo-Carr, most likely came down to money and paying $600K a year for what 4 years? For a winger that more or less has 2 years of his playing form before he declines.. I’d prefer to bring a new kid in for less..

We know what we need and I’m glad we’re not paying overs for duds in a few years.. ITS THE FUTURE !

Just a sidelight point:

Arrow has said and I quote - "The Tigers, I would rather go to live in Syria."

One of the best misses of in the West Tigers history - it is appropriate that he is now a "Souffs Scumbag."

Where is this quote?

It was a while ago - can't remember, probably around the time he came on the market - half way through last year maybe.

He said it and it was reported, I didn't make it up.

What an underwhelming experience that will be coming from Brisbane.....
Pascoe: "See past the demountables over there.....you have to use your imagination, however in the next 12 months, that will be the 'Benji Marshall' weights room......we also recently started providing Gatorade and Gaffa tape to players which you will find in the new utilities cupboard. We've named that the 'Braith Anasta' Storeroom.
Now which one of our 6 home grounds would you like to visit first?"

He was supposed to be visiting the Tigers & Dragons, although the Dragons no longer have money since De Belin ( not everyone at the Dragons are happy about his return) has returned as their priority is Hynes. Joey Manu wants to play fullback & has been given permission to explore his options, he has been having preliminary talks for nearly 2 months

Thanks for the update. De Belin is a fine player and will strengthen the Dragon's defence. The best attribute he brings is his partner, Alyce Taylor. I admire her for the strength. A truly courageous woman. As for De Belin, if you watch him walk, doesn't he remind you of a Rooster?

If she courageous she would of left him once she found out his hideous act.

I honestly not keen to watch a game he is playing

Hey leave them alone.

The situation is awful as far as Rugby league is concerned. Yes His act is Horrible, I think there is justice in him doing time on the sidelines and i agree (from what we know) he should have done jail time.

But his/her relationship. Thats between them.
I dont care if she made a brave decision to stand with someone for the right reasons while they went through all that, or for the wrong reasons. Not our problem, not ours to look on them.

Even if it is exactly as it looks, even if De-Belen is exactly that creep as the trial portrayed. Her choice is hard enough, she will have my sympathy. But Blame, no way.

Operative words - "Not Guilty"

What you know is - he cheated on his partner, you don't do time for that, even if you think he should.

Maybe we can sign OJ Simpson Russ, seems like the type of bloke you’d support. He was found not guilty after all.

That is only your opinion. Lets go and burn all the other people who have been found "Not Guilty" of alleged crimes. Don't just pick one out Avo to fit your agenda. Anyway I had my say, you had yours...end of discussion from me.

You openly call people like Hastings, Arrow, Latrell Mitchell and Mitch Moses scumbags of the highest order, yet they’ve never been charged with any violent crimes as far as I know.

De Belin on the other hand, not guilty (after 2 hung juries) so no harm no foul.

Just absolutely bizarre.

If being a knob was considered a violent crime, Mitch Moses would be jailed for life. ✌

That's what I read also. Wanted to save face as fans were not happy.
Compared to years gone by the club is very quite with no leaks anymore.

I see Hines has secured a $1.8m, 3 year deal with the Sharks?

He looks a good prospect, but I don’t think we would of entertained that sort of cash? What’s his best position?

He is a good player but IMO $600K is the upper limit of what you would pay him at this stage.

I was reading that Souffs had signed up a lot of there junior talent and found this comment in the story it a wonder that Latrell & Co haven't taken offence to it

They are graduating through our ‘Black Rabbits’ elite development program and we’re really excited to see them progress as they get the opportunity to train with the full squad on a regular basis.

We have been missing out for a couple of years now I have asked the question many times still no answer

I know, it is depressing, IMHO Madge is far from an attraction, in fact I have seen stories on coaches players least like to play under, Madge features highly, also heard some players say it on FOX

I don't care. We've never been a marquee club. Our major success happened of the back of some brilliant kids.

Madge has been the best coach I've seen in relation to recruitment at the Tigers. To me that is his best attribute. They seem to be building a club for the future.

I wish we had signed a couple more juniors if anything. That Walsh kid and Burton are ones I'd wish we'd gotten.

Burton yes - Walsh has not proven anything that I have seen - except that he can throw forward passes and come down on peoples faces with his elbow. Looks like a "KAT" to me. Not in the same class as Burton, Walker or Suaalii.

This bloke has something against Young Queensland rookies obviously no clue what he’s looking at

Had some fair games for Doggies but there is better out there

I think wing is not a position that we need to go hard for anyone for. It should be capped at 600k for the 2 best in the game, possibly, but a serviceable winger who is safe and does their job will be sufficient. Sadly, we don't even have one of those for the second wing spot atm. I think that we could overcapitalise if we go too hard in that position and should rather put that money and effort elsewhere for greater return on investment. A Corey Thompson type in hindsight would stop gap us for now, obviously that ship has sailed. Let's look to the centres or a second strike edge.
