Don’t take this the wrong way, but it’s never the case that 15 teams are trying to sign the same player. It’s usually down to 2 or 3 and up to 5 or 6. It’s not to disagree with your overall point, but to put into context what some people are frustrated with. It’s not my personal view, but I can see the other side.

Of course all 15 teams aren't going for every player, but the point is you will never know exactly who did or did not try to sign a player, and therefore it could be any of the 15, or just 1 of them. Or, because the media might speculate about a club, the fans assume the club is actually negotiating or involved in a bid, when it may be nothing of the sort.

So for example this DWZ thing: the Bulldogs said officially that Tigers made an inquiry about his contract position and nothing further has happened. Media has gone ahead and reported/speculated that Tigers are trying to sign DWZ and Bulldogs would offer some freight. That may or may not be true. It may simply be that Tigers have rung around several clubs about several backs to gauge what their overall options are, and DWZ is just one of many potential names.

Now if DWZ ends up not leaving Bulldogs, does that mean Tigers missed out? It may have only ever been a phone call inquiry. It would be like saying I missed out on a house because I phone the real estate agent about it one time. Or even that I missed out on the house because I went to the inspection but didn't go to the auction.

TBH the club is pretty tight lipped now and we are not getting much at all regarding players we are chasing ( A good thing I suppose because if we miss them media wont know).
Even @THE_POM has been off the mark a little lately ( and by no way am I saying that as a bad thing as I love it when he posts) We went up to Brisbane to talk to Issaako and TPJ apparently and nothing happened plus you add the DWZ update and then the dogs come out and say we enquired and nothing since then.. Obviously things change and out of the clubs control but I still have faith we will get some good players but just hate the waiting... I think you need to be pretty dame close to the inner circle to know what's actually happening..

Canterbury have tried to buy a team and are finding out the hard way that that's not how it works. We learnt that lesson a few years ago with Cleary. Addo-Carr and Burton are fine acquisitions but I much prefer the way we are going about recruitment.

Just because Ivan made some poor recruitment decisions doesn't mean you shouldn't target excellent, established players. Burton and Addo-Carr are excellent signings. They're getting rid of Dallin because they have signed players who are an upgrade on him. The fact Dallin would walk right into our team is an indictment of our backline recruitment.

We should be after finucane big time and if we miss out, questions should be asked. Especially if we are looking at dwz

You don't judge recruitment on players that you miss.

Why not?
You rate everything else to be a success on both ends of the equation, why not recruitment? If we are failing to sign players , we are doing something wrong.

You judge it on the players you do recruit as that is the only thing that is 100% in your control. Missing out on a player in not 100% in any clubs control.

So in regards to teams like Melbourne, souths, etc we are just as successful in our recruiting as we signed Hastings, Gillard??

That would indicate that we did not miss out on Latrine and JAC at all.

However you keep saying we did if it makes you feel better and it enhances your argument.

Latrell has said he didn’t want to come here because he wanted to craft into his fullback position, not hold the team together and look for him to make the big decision during the game..

Although I do agree the grub didn’t want to come here regardless, which is fine.. I never wanted him.

We know what we need and I’m glad we’re not paying overs for duds in a few years.. ITS THE FUTURE !

We have been missing out for a couple of years now I have asked the question many times still no answer

I know, it is depressing, IMHO Madge is far from an attraction, in fact I have seen stories on coaches players least like to play under, Madge features highly, also heard some players say it on FOX

I don't care. We've never been a marquee club. Our major success happened of the back of some brilliant kids.

Madge has been the best coach I've seen in relation to recruitment at the Tigers. To me that is his best attribute. They seem to be building a club for the future.

I wish we had signed a couple more juniors if anything. That Walsh kid and Burton are ones I'd wish we'd gotten.

Burton yes - Walsh has not proven anything that I have seen - except that he can throw forward passes and come down on peoples faces with his elbow. Looks like a "KAT" to me. Not in the same class as Burton, Walker or Suaalii.

But he wasn't found to be not guilty. The jury were undecided.

He's a free man but he isn't 'not guilty' of the charges. Otherwise the jury would have come to that conclusion but they couldn't, twice.

Thanks for the update. De Belin is a fine player and will strengthen the Dragon's defence. The best attribute he brings is his partner, Alyce Taylor. I admire her for the strength. A truly courageous woman. As for De Belin, if you watch him walk, doesn't he remind you of a Rooster?

If she courageous she would of left him once she found out his hideous act.

The situation is awful as far as Rugby league is concerned. Yes His act is Horrible, I think there is justice in him doing time on the sidelines and i agree (from what we know) he should have done jail time.

But his/her relationship. Thats between them.
I dont care if she made a brave decision to stand with someone for the right reasons while they went through all that, or for the wrong reasons. Not our problem, not ours to look on them.

Even if it is exactly as it looks, even if De-Belen is exactly that creep as the trial portrayed. Her choice is hard enough, she will have my sympathy. But Blame, no way.

Operative words - "Not Guilty"

What you know is - he cheated on his partner, you don't do time for that, even if you think he should.

But he wasn't found to be not guilty. The jury were undecided.

He's a free man but he isn't 'not guilty' of the charges. Otherwise the jury would have come to that conclusion but they couldn't, twice.

But you could say he's not 'Guilty' either, as the jury twice didn't come to that conclusion.

Either way, I think he would carry with him too much baggage in the public media space, and we shouldn't even consider looking at him.
