Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Tedesco is the player I blame most. He had no intention of staying, I guess the Club should have taken note of his earlier Raiders' venture. They didn't and we lost arguably our best fullback to the Storm.

As for Woods, I'd have no issue with him returning but I cannot see the need for another prop.

It's funny how people who go Moses and other players, call them dogs etc now support Woods coming back to the club.

Screw that rubbish.

The guy was club captain and tried to take all our good players to another club.

The absolute last player id let back in the club.

He’s a grub who thought he was bigger than the club. Think of the Hooper interview where he threw the club under the bus. Around that time he was also a regular on NRL 360. He never once defended the club or spoke on behalf of the club. He was looking out for himself. To do all that as captain, made him one of the most selfish players I can ever remember.

No one in this forum would ever throw the club under the bus...

We’re supporters. Even if we do, we don’t walk away. Players on the other hand

He left under Cleary's watch. What's your opinion of Cleary, one of our greats? Ever talked Cleary up yourself?

I’m failing to see how that’s relevant? If he was loyal to the club, wouldn’t have mattered who the coach was.

Can't be bothered explaining...

No, please do. Don’t back down.

The Jason Taylor years were a nightmare from which it was going to be very difficult to recover. I had a conversation with Siro at the time who told me how frustrated Curtis was at being lied to all the time by Taylor. The players hated Taylor. Woods was the glue in a side when certain players were threatening mutiny. When the club shafted Taylor, who by the way was brought in to do a certain job, and signed Cleary, it really hit the fan. Woodsy wanted to stay. He was club captain and wanted to be a Tiger for life. He loved the Tigers and he thought they loved him. When Cleary offered a his old mate, a convicted criminal 200k a season more than the club captain, to play the same position, it kind of rubbed people the wrong way, particularly when Woods had only ever done his best for the club. He asked if he could be upgraded to the same money as the crim and was told to look elsewhere if he wanted more money. It's common knowledge now that we wasted 800,000k for 3 seasons when we could have kept, at the time, the best front rower in the game.

If the above is true, why so much hate against Woods?
IMHO, Woods was always >>>>Packer.

Absolutely correct!

I liked Woodsy, even had a beer with him after a game at Campbo where he was happy to converse and enjoyed meeting me...
The trouble all along was that Ivan wanted Russ here and paid big money to buy the roster he WANTED,after awhile he was out of his depth, knew he was going back to Riff and left us all hanging, typical weak exit, never had the thought of looking after the Tigers workers and best players but wanted to make a name for himself, unfortunately for him its a bad name and dont care what he does at Penrith as long as we progress the way we have,at least it has been honest hard work involving everyone and not just one person grandstanding...

Teddy, Moses and Woods were great players for us, and at that time our club was a complete shambles. I would have left if i was in their shoes.
This is a professional game now,and the clubs would , and should move you for a better player. The player likewise should follow his career path or the dollars. How many juniors are in our top 30 ? The same with other clubs ! Very few players last more then 5 yrs in the top grade,(just a guess).

This club loyalty thing , is very thin in todays game.

Nup...theres a difference between not being loyal to the club that developed and invested in you vs orchestrating a mass exit of the clubs best 4 players and then being dishonest about it ,with the sole outcome being the club gets absolutely smashed for several years
..and as topspin got the coach punted ..again a campaign behind everyones backs
That was Aaron Woods.
Shld never wear a tiger jersey again.
..and btw..Moses was never "great"for us...just a work in progress.Still is...

Do you really think Woods organised a mass excodus ! You are delussional.

..at least I can spell "delusional" correctly!!Call me paranoid..!
Woods cldnt organise anything tbh...but as Club Captain he played played a leading role in pursuading the others to exit..and lied about it.Screwed the club royally.

Woods was poorly advised in hindsight he would have been a better keep than Signing Packer

Definitely. I would definitely have preferred Woodsy to have stayed. And definitely wish Packer never came to our club. And yes, Isaac and Ivan are both to blame, both are blacklisted in my book.

Others here have mentioned the game may have passed Woodsy by, and that he may block some of our junior forwards - both very good points. Maybe we asked too much of him at the time with the leadership role, maybe it was too early.

For mine, if Woodsy came out and publicly said that he wished he had never left WT, and that he was coming back on a modest contract for 1 or 2 years, to fill a leadership role (he's of that age where it really should be part of his resume now) to help mentor our young cub pack AND if Madge and Hartigan were convinced it was good for us now, then I would be swayed.

I would never forget, and maybe only partially forgive, but I could move past it if the club thought it was in our best interest.

If you were a manager in your workplace and your boss passed you over for a promotion and instead, hired a new bloke who'd just gotten out of gaol and gave him more money, you'd just say "thanks"?

Teddy always said he wanted to play finals footy. That had nothing to do with Woods that had every thing to do with the state of the club.

nothing to do with woods getting approval from his manager at all for the dogs, the issue the three at the dogs fell apart was Des did not want Mitchell Moses.
Teddy got Jack when his mate was not getting signed by the dogs with him and Woods and he did what Teddy does and that is backflip and join the Roosters.
Woods got stuck at the dogs and the rest is history ruined his rep career.
I would have Woods back on a modest deal he is better than Musgrove at least
Props

Well they would have been, yes you're right. But the actions of Ivan the terrible doesn't excuse dumping on the club as a whole.

I wish him good luck, and would prefer him to become a good player again, worthy of talk of making the Origin side.

No matter how Woods left the club, he would be a step in the wrong direction for a club that is perceived as weak when it comes to recruitment and retention. We don't want to be a place where people get their retirement contract any more and definitely not for someone who left in such circumstances
