All this talk about leadership ( Finucane) sounds like last year with Tamou.
Who is to say it wont turn out the same way.

Come on guys, are we so scarred from Packer and Reynolds that we can’t tell good from bad anymore.

- he’s played in 7 grand finals (so far)
- Captains the Melbourne Storm
- who should have put 80 on us last week
- scores tries pretty regularly
- current NSW origin player in a very good team
- absolute rock in defense which is our problem
- was pursued by Belly ache
- would change the narrative that WT can’t attract premier players

I get he’s not a young dynamic attacking weapon but I’d rather get beat in a close defensive struggle than flogged by 50.

Close defensive struggles don't exist anymore.

Ok so I can see how some might have reservations about Finucane but comparing him to Packer or even Tamou as a player is ridiculous.
My view is that he is the exact type of player we should be aiming for.
I wrote a post at the start of this season that I believe is even more important now. It stated that whatever spots we had in our roster must be filled by what I’d call “winners”, guys that compete on every play, real “competitors” who play at 110% every week, guys who kill themselves to win. These are the guys we simply do not have at the Tigers- not even one. Teams like the Storm are full of them and I believe Bellamy looks for that characteristic and develops it with the culture he promotes. Players like that don’t put out the sort of half hearted rubbish we watched last Saturday. Players like that drag the rest along with them. Grant is a good example. We had him for a short time last year and looked a better side in the most part.

@Everything-WT

Id take me both @ Overs for leadership and punch

Not on 4 years though for either....

Yeah I agree, I was asked yesterday who I would take if I could just have one. I struggled to answer.

Going hard for both would be the best idea
If we land both even better
Make Finucane captain as he is a true leader
Let him leed by example and others will follow
I hope
He is a true professional and players will definitely look up to him
Two hard men can turn this club around

Yeah I would go for both as they both bring something we lack, Paul Kent spoke at the weekend about why some players don't do well outside of the Melbourne Storm systems, he stated that some players are followers and will adapt to the system they are in, i.e if they are in a club with strong systems they will meet those requirement if however they are removed and placed in a club with poor systems they won't so as well as they will fit in with what is happening at that club. He said when you get players from the Storm you want to make sure you are getting a leader because they will bring the culture with them, set the standards and drive the culture. Finucane is a leader

As a club we are losing the collision in most games and that is where the game is being won at the moment, TPJ wins the collision so he would be a good get for us as well.

I say lets get both, but at the right price and length of contract.

Spot on and thats why I would not care if we paid overs.. We lose Packer, Joey and maybe Mbye so surely we have money to play around with.. Need to invest before we start losing out top young talent.

Isn't that the problem, "they should have put 80 on us" but didn't, lacks the killer instinct by the looks of it :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy:

Seriously, would be fantastic to get both him and TPJ IMO.

Mate I feel like copying this and sending to Madge, Hartigan and Pascoe as its spot on... FFS us fans deserve better and would not complain if we had to pay overs for the 1st big name player.. You need to start the domino effect somewhere

Getting fanucane and TPJ will make no difference until we change the 7.. Brooks has to go. He cannot swing momentum and he cannot take options that keep pressure on the opposition. Need a leader at 7... after 8 failed yrs it'd time to cut our losses.

As for pascoe don't think he is going anywhere unfortunately until his number one KPI is delivered. The centre of excellence. There Is alot of government money at stake and last thing we need is a change at that level to bugger this up too. It will transform this club to a destination.

I agree completely. Finucane was an honest plodder with the Dogs but is yet another example of the brilliance and influence of Craig Bellamy in transforming his limited skills into excellence.

But, we don't have Craig Bellamy or his Storm systems. There is no guarantee that Finucane would offer the WT what he does at the Storm, so why pay some inflated price for him?

Because we have to do something... We have waited 10 + Years and if we were to get him we will be getting others.

That’s exactly my thoughts
I’m not exactly against signing him,but he may be another Proctor,Glasby or Blair at another team.

Point being, teams with good defenders can still keep it tight, look at Melbourne‘s scores against Parra, Penrith and Easts, even Gold Coast.

Really really hope we are all in for finucane 3 or 4 year deal 600 to 700 a season
Every single person in the know ses he is an amazing leading and is 1 of the main players driving the standards at Melbourne. even if his last year he hardly plays you will still get value from him off the field

That's a good plan.. if we can lose Mbye without too much freight.

He was our marquee once and doesn't really deliver so hopefully a club is still keen and we can lose that from our cap.

Media is pushing hard for us to chase Dale.
He is heavily strapped during games.
Hopefully he isn't too busted.
He's 28 I read so surely has some life left.

Don't need another Packer or Tamou as mentioned so hopefully he's ready to work.

I like the pack with him and TPJ in it but we may lose a Mikaele....

if we lose Big Tom its a good play. prefer not to lose a prop for 2 back rowers

yes buy serial winners, people who will go all out for a win. Mentally they have been weak for years.

How old is Grant? How many injuries have cost him game time.? A wonderfull talent, but like the Cheese runs head first, i wonder about his long term future.
