Dragons signed George Burgess apparently - few months ago he was close to retiring due to hip injury issues

The way we are going we should sign him... Kidding of course
Very disappointing our club is

Unless a club releases a big name player to us, 2022 is looking barren as there are no players left who are much better than we have.

Except Finucane...so it seems all or nothing with him now.

Well in saying that. He has 2 choices. Us or Melbourne and maybe a loss of about 600k over 3 years.
Maybe they will help him decide?
I reckon the club would be willing to sign him for 600k for 3 years, no more. Melbourne I reckon would be hard pressed being able to fit him in for 450k no less. Of course there’s always the Knights, Sharks or Cowboys so he may still get the deal he is after.

Im coming around to Finucane and hope we get him. I agree that I'd offer $600K over 3 which is probably one year too many but I think he is the kind of guy to take that risk. Unlike Tamou (who I was happy with), Finucane is still smashing it right now.

Surely if Dragons sign Sua and Dogs sell the farm to get TPJ, we would have to be in the box seat if he leaves Storms.

We're not getting Finucane - he wants more money and a longer deal than WT are willing to pay. My source on this is solid.

Any other news from your source

TPJ won't come here for less than 950k, which WT laughed at. My source feels the frustration of the fans but this is simply a slow process as there's not a huge amount of A-grade talent on the market this year. The long term plan involves an increased focus on developing and retaining local juniors. Some of these Flegg boys will hopefully step up in a couple of years time - there's one or two like Ogden and Mavoni who could end up in FG next season.

Appreciate the update mate..
It sounds like we have no choice but to go youth but are we even considering paying overs for someone for 2 years until these kids develop ? Not saying 950 k for TPJ either as that is outrageous but no use having this money and not spending it. I would rather take a risk for 2 years on someone.

These would be my targets: (off contract)
Curtis Sironen (21)
Scott Sorenson (21)
Herbie Farnworth (22)
Corey Horsburgh (22)
Moeaki Fotuaika (22)
Marata Niukore (22)
Brandon Smith (22) - would seriously give this bloke 900k

Obviously some are off contract in 2022 but can talk after Nov 1 and try to agitate an early release

THat is simple disrespect and thats his right I guess. Sounds along the same lines of what Pom said that its clear that we are not his first or second choice.

Oh well.....Like you say. Need to start developing some fast.

There is a few in there that I would not mind but my gut feeling is we are a last resort to players except juniors who just want a run.. Even the mid level ones don't want to come here because if they did we would of signed one by now.

Forget the big name players we need to read the tea leaves. We have signed Ofehengaue, Luciano, Blore, Laurie, Musgrove, Amone, Simpkin, Douihei, Maumalo, Utoikamanu, Tamou, Kepoa, Jet, BJ and now Hastings, Gildart.

To be honest it’s not a bad list BJ, Jet, Tamou are the three that have not worked out. I’ll reserve Judgement on Kepoa and Musgrove.
The majority of players signed by the current management have been good. The offset in that time we have lost Aloai, Matterson, Corey Thompson. Two forces their way out which is the way it works at struggling clubs.

Where we have struggled is a lack of pathways and no one of note coming through our own systems. Let’s hope Tuilagi, Tuki Simpkins, Tumeth, Kei, Ogden, Fuamtimo, Tuifua,Scolari etc come through strongly.

It is not a bad list?
Tamou, Kepoa, Jet, BJ, Hastings, Gildart all would not get another club play them in firsts in Aus.

Big Joe O admitted absolutely no one was interested in except us...not one club.

Luciano would not start for anyone else with his D.

Amone, big Maumolo...most clubs have squad players at that level. It is not like they are stand outs.

Mugrove has had two decent NRL games in five years...

Our young players may or may not make 'the leap'. Laurie has been good, but we are talking about maybe the 12th best FB in the game. Jake and Tuki may be great...but yet to really stand out in state cup.

I have hope, but I do think a lot of us here overrate our roster. We are third last for a reason.

I agree and have stated before we have the second worst roster in the comp. the players we signed are actually the better prospects. That’s the issue the cupboard was bare and cap was poorly managed. Now we can’t attract players youth the only way.

Looks like a wooden spoon roster if I’ve ever seen one

At the risk of sounding like a negative nellie I think we are still a chance to get it this year...

Not a chance

The Dragons wanted us to pay 700-750k of his salary if they signed him. It's one thing to try let him go, but if we're still paying 700k it's not worth it. Their offer wasn't serious and well under market value.

M'Bye's market value is Minimum wage based on his recent performances

If Ogden & Mavoni are that good they should go straight to KOE cup Make them use to playing against the big boys. That's what Penrith do as soon as your good enough you go up the grades pretty quickly, Unlike here it takes eons.

Issac Liu official to Titans

Suua to Saints done

TPJ to Dogs imminent...

But he’ll go to the dogs for 750k and was reportedly preferring us or dragons over them! Plenty of bull crap flying around with him at the moment I’m afraid!

This is my issue with the media in the Rugby League world, they just make crap up all the time.

How things have changed since I was a kid …remember buying rugby League week magazine?
