The poor Tigers can’t land a tadpole let alone a big fish. Their latest move is an 11th hour bid for Dale Finucane after Tevita Pangai Jr and Scott Sorensen knocked them back. I keep hearing Aaron Woods, with his big-body, leadership qualities and emotional ties to his former club, could finish in the black and gold.

I don't see him starting for us next year either. Stefano, Mikaele, Twal, Seyfarth and Ofahengaue should really be our middles for next season. Tamou, Musgrove, Tuki and even Tuilagi can all be backup middles.

Maybe we could use one more middle forwards at the club but not sure it should be Woodsy

He's from a continuously winning team, with an excellent culture and work ethic.

Our middles at the moment get monstered most weeks. Unless there’s some pretty drastic improvement we need to add one or two middles imo.

Aaron Woods would be 30 years old by the start of next season. Finucane would be 6 months younger.

He would cost half of an Arron Woods and a third of a Finucane.
@cochise not asking specifically if there is any talk regarding him, but are we trying to add players like him into our squad next year?

The Wests Tigers have lodged an 11th hour bid to sign the game’s hottest property Dale Finucane.

The Tigers have entered the race as it can also be revealed the Knights have ended their pursuit of the Storm and NSW Origin forward.

The 29-year-old’s current club, the Melbourne Storm, are also resigned to the fact that he will be departing the club at the end of this season.

It leaves the Tigers, Sharks, Dragons, Cowboys and Titans locked-in a multi-million dollar scrap for his signature.

All five clubs are believed to have tabled a three-year contract — but Finucane’s management have been pushing hard for an extra year to seal the deal.

Given the physical nature of the way Finucane has played the game and a recent history of calf problems, the majority of the suitors have been reluctant to go beyond a third year.

Regardless, Finucane’s new deal is expected to be in the vicinity of $2 million dollars - a healthy pay-day for a player who is widely respected for his leadership, work-ethic and cultural standards.

It’s understood the Tigers stepped up their bid to sign Finucane after missing out on Tevita Pangai Jr, who is on the move from the Broncos to Canterbury.

It could throw a late curve-ball to the drawn-out negotiations which was expected to be resolved this weekend after he went through the bids with his agent Andrew Purcell on Friday.

As footballers alone (not counting off field issues), I'd have JDB over Finucane. JDB just controls the ruck with his defence and has a good offload.

Would he leave the coast though ? He’s pretty entrenched in the community down here . It’s a long way to concord .Plus the whole rape stuff is pretty on the nose . Whether it’s true or not , unfortunately everybody is guilty in the court of social media outrage .

With the Dragons wanting Mbye, a swap seems a logical step. Mick Cronin use to travel from Gerringong to Parramatta to train and play,

Dragons will play hard ball, they're already saying if they don't get him this year they won't sign him at all. They can just refuse a swap knowing we will get stuck with him next year if we can't make a deal, not sure how desperate they are for Mbye

The coach at the Dragons doesn't seem the type to stand for nonsense. The other big plus with De Belin, he has had two years off football. His body is in better shape than Finucanes. Some may have strong views to the contrary but we need to take all our opportunities to strengthen the roster.

sorry mate, but I can't agree on this one. Jack De Belin is the last person I would want at this club and that includes Matt Lodge. he was never proven innocent and regardless of whether or not he was guilty, he cheated on his pregnant wife with an 18 year old he met at the Santa pub crawl one day at North gong. he's a gronk.

In this country, you don't have to prove innocence, you need to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

As for the other stuff, that's between his family and himself. Certainly nothing to do with you or me.

That grub should never put foot back into our colours after his half hour interview with pooper on Fox when he decided to leave our club. He bagged the s### out of us and he was our captain. After all this club gave him and he had the hide to bag us. Give me a junior any day over him.

Our middles at the moment get monstered most weeks. Unless there’s some pretty drastic improvement we need to add one or two middles imo.

Definitely room for improvement there but if woods is our only option then it might not be worth it. They can compete against good packs when they feel like it, I'm more concerned with our edges. We haven't signed anyone who will fix our defence out there

We will only sign players for next year similar to who came in this year. Young guys or journeymen. I had hoped that we would improve this year but after 3 games I knew we were a rabble again.

I thought Tamou was a decent buy for the money - wrong. He has been awful.

Same for JTJ - cheap and IF he could recapture something? Wrong again.

BJ said all the right things in preseason - he’s worse than last year.

I thought Blore would have a good year. Injured before game one and has showed little since.

Noffa - what can you say? Back on easy street for 4 years.

Laurie - he has been wonderful. Very gifted. One of the very few.

Talau - up and down, up and down.

Mbye - nuff said

Brooks has been doing ok.

Joffa - hot and cold but better than most of our forwards.

Twal - same ol, same ol.

Garner - average, bog average.

Douehi - started ok at 5/8 then got worse. Put in centres did ok then got worse. Back at 5/8 good game again. Let’s see if he stays consistent now.

Liddle - started ok but average now

J Simpkin - did ok I thought but rested and not seen again.

Tuki - one game but did enough. Fingers crossed.

Seyfarth - doing ok. Has a good dig.

I can only see similar signings for the next few years. This system where you sign 6 or 7 players and hope one turns out exceptional.

Daine Laurie is this years exceptional one.

To me that reads as simple as … we are young and inconsistent .
