I hope Gildart improves dramatically, from what i've seen of him he won't come close to cutting it in NRL. His defence is terrible.

If thats the case then he wont look out of place.

As horrifying as it is to say, i'm not sure he's an upgrade on what we have (on what i've seen of him this year). Defence is terrible, he's very small, and he's prone to errors.

I'd prefer not to read this. We need centres desperately.

Is this Harley smith Shiekds? I just looked up his highlights. Robert Jennings Mk II. Dear God

He's originally a fullback but can play centre or wing. He'd be a walk-up starter for us, and handy backup should Laurie get injured.

He's only played a couple of first grade games, you think he'd have an amazing highlights reel? He was man of the match for Canberra in the Flegg Grand final a few years back.

I'm worried about our lack of young halves coming through. typically we've always had someone making noise even if they didn't come good, i.e Lui, Mulcahy, Miller, Brooks, Moses, Madden etc.

despite the JF side doing well, there's been no major wraps on Stevanovic and Hill, and while Taipari was in and around state cup, he hasn't looked like a player that you can say will play first grade 100%. it's a shame Tannous has been injured all year, would've been good to see how he handled it.

apart from that though, is there any young halves in our ranks that anyone's aware of that are potential first graders? Tyler Field has always had decent wraps on him as well, but he couldn't even crack the starting side for JF.

Field was injured too.

Field came back for a few games prior to the season being suspended - solid little fella, unfortunately I don't see the fuss in him at the moment - no speed, not much in the way off organising from what I saw of him either.

All he did in every part of the clip was catch the ball and fall over the line.

Every dog has his day re his man of the match performance. I remember Keith Leilua (that’s right Keith Leilua) scoring 4 tries against the Dogs once upon a time.

If we can add him to our squad, we're in the right direction... still need a few more pieces to fall into place though.

Blame the coach, blame the players, they're a toxic club that seem to escape a lot of criticism, maybe because of their long gone glory days or maybe because they make the 8 every so often.
Either way their fan base only comes out when they're winning and they are a team stacked with unlikeable characters. Simply put... they suck.

I haven't seen the clip you are referring to, but if all he did was catch the ball, he has a lot of advantages over most of our blokes.

A teenage son of a gun has tongues wagging in the NRL after a hot start to his Super League career in England.

Will Pryce, 18, has only played six first-grade games but has already been earmarked as England’s future five-eighth at Test level.

The Daily Telegraph now reports Pryce - son of Britain great Leon - has made waves Down Under and at least one NRL club is considering making a play for the young talent.

I think Gutho is in a bit of a Josh Reynolds like category. Everyone talks about his competitiveness, and he's definitely a good player, but he's not that fast or that big or particularly skilful.

I wouldn't spend big money on him and I think he suits the Eels. Not sure he'd be all that impressive for us.

Is he a really consistent last tackle kicker? No. Does he organise a backline? No. Is he like Latrell Mitchell or Turbo in just being such an athlete that he can single handedly change the game? No.

So he's a clever, scheming, quality support player who plays really hard, and that sort of player would be great, but you don't want him as your big money signing. Just my opinion.

I agree. We already have Laurie who should project higher than Gutherson in a couple of years.

Unless we can upgrade Laurie with a Manu type then we hold Laurie and leave players like Gutho to other clubs who dont have their Laurie already.

We will see next year but i am far from hopeful,he may go ok in attack but it is his defence i am talking about.It is diabolical

Big no to Gutho. Jack of all trades, master or none. The Reynolds comparison someone made was very apt. He came second in the dally M last year so you're buying him at his peak. Wouldn't be smart business at all and that's not considering the fact he's a tool and could very easily cause locker room issues.

Big yes to Joey Manu. We've got great young talents in Laurie and Doueihi in the 1 and 6, but you can never have too many good players. Look at the way NSW used Mitchell and Trbojevic - you find ways to get great players involved no matter what. Even if Doueihi or Manu has to wear the four, you know that on backline movements they'll all get involved and have some responsibility as ball players or runners.

Separately, we also seem to be entering a "position-less" game of sorts, especially with how the 6 again rule has changed things. Speed, footwork and ball playing ability are at a premium and being able to get the ball out to players on the edge who can make things happen is more important than ever. I don't know what the update is with Connor Watson, but he would be a very good addition in the 14. He's killing it at lock as that middle third ball player with good footwork at the line.

He’s played first grade the last 3-4 weeks for the raiders.

Is he a natrural winger or another who plays anywhere from 1-5

Pretty sure he is a centre

Is he a natrural winger or another who plays anywhere from 1-5

Pretty sure he is a centre

He was a fullback throughout much of his juniors. But more recently has played at both centre and wing in NSW Cup and in a handful of NRL games.

I've been impressed with him since he's had some consistent time in first grade. would certainly improve our backline considering how poor our centres have been this season.

Not wrong unfortunately. If he's worth 1 million we probably need to pay 1.3.
Could be a circuit breaker. If you then don't have to pay 450k to get a 300k player across you start chipping the money back.
However for mine if your paying stupid money its for a 1 or a 7.
No doubt Manu is better FB then Laurie currently and would be for the next few years

Real question is where can you fit laurie in 6? Maybe next year if he puts some bulk on.

Then were does AD play? Id love to see if we can develop him into a 7. He's certainly got the voice.
Could be a real difference having a halfback that is a solid ball runner, if he digs into the line they will have to commit defenders which will make space on the edges.
