Comments suggesting it doesn't matter as they're only reserve graders are missing the point. These players were identified by us and we made them offers. They turned us down. There is no point having a youth strategy if we're unable to sign them.

The vast majority of NRL players will resign with their current clubs. This is not an issue unique to Wests Tigers. Do you think the Wests Tigers were the only club that identified either of these guys?

They are not the only two players we've gone after. We've gone after many other players that have signed with rival clubs.

So what? We are a club that isn’t very attractive because we have spent so much time near the bottom. That won’t change overnight.

You conveniently ignore all the junior talent we have signed because we missed out on 2.

We've missed out on a lot more than two unless of course we didn't really make them an offer at all -

Ah so now you’re changing the argument to make the list longer, sorry I didn’t realise players in their mid 20,s were classed as junior talent.

Not changing the argument at all. Egan and HSS were no doubt being recruited for our NRL side, not to sit in KOE. These are players we were linked to and have signed zero. Our miss rate is shocking.

Do you believe bringing Sheens back is an admission a cog is amiss in our recruitment wheel (note I believe Hartigan is doing a fine job)?

Ivan found it difficult to sign players as well, finally relying on paying overs for a few hacks. Do we ant more of that? Or should we focus on building the club into a joint that players want to come to?

As for current rumours, I believe fotuiaka should be the primary forward target over someone like Thompson. Younger, cheaper and arguably better. Rumours going around that dragons are targeting him for 2022, need to throw our hat into the ring

I still think Seyfarth is very average - way more upside to Butcher

I rate Seyfarth. I haven't seen enough of Butcher to judge but Seyfarth was the guy I wanted the club to re-sign. Stef is clearly a gun middle forward. I'd put Seyfarth as the next rung down in our middle forward rotation. I think he is probably better than Twal and I like Twal.

I feel at the moment we're struggling to sign quality players between the ages of 20-30. Outside of that we're doing well.

I upvoted this not because I agree with you but because it's pretty funny.

But we have signed players from rival clubs as well? There are 16 clubs, you can’t sign them all, at least we identified them, if we did in fact make offers?

Not for next year we haven't. We've signed sweet bugger all.

We’ve signed 26 players for next year.

Who have we added to the roster so far, other than 2 ESL players?

Hastings was the man of steel and has killed it over there.

I agree with you that we aren't getting players easily. I think it comes down to money and I'm okay with it on that basis.

We do have to get some players but I think we can field a decent team next year without any more signings. Hopefully we get some more though.

Come Nov 1, hopefully we will hear of something?

Strap in lads.

We have always been a development club for the comp... hopefully we can keep our good developed players from now on, instead of losing them like in the past with Tedesco and the like.

Home grown talent.

“The Daily Telegraph has been told Wests Tigers have shown a keenness in Thompson”

Great news.

We should get busy with the recruitment.
Getting left behind.

Seriously anyone that doesn't see that there is a HUGE issue with recruitment at the moment is blind

But we dont know what the club has in mind as far as recruitment goes...their not going to let us know everyday what their up to...

The club appears not to know what it has in mind as far as recruitment goes Bringing the Seyfarth re-signing out now tells us all we need to know.

How do you draw that conclusion?

The NRL recruitment cup is overflowing!

We're all frustrated by the last 10 years but it's a bit harsh seeing a re-signng of a promising player as a negative.

So you are making something negative about something that is positive?

I like Seyfarth and if you search way back that goes to his SG Ball days. Releasing his re-signing at near the time we get word of Egan re-signing with the Roosters is ordinary.

Maybe we should stop trying to get info about possible recruits from now on. Just wait until they make it official. Might make it less downtrodden for some people. Lol

Agreed. He has great defence, footy smarts and can pass. Needs to work on his speed and lateral movement but he is definately a keeper.

That is strategic recruitment at its best.
