Just read Benny Elias' comments about recruiting a former halves legend as a mentor.
The last time this was discussed was when Matty Johns turned up to a training session.
It's a good idea and probs overdue.
If we couldn't get Cronk, Thursty, Freddy or either Johns brother, who would we take?...
I'd suggest James the Roaster Maloney.
Newly retired, a job offer upon returning to Aus, good with people/larrikins, gifted play-maker and game-manager, but most importantly, driven to succeed and a tremendous competitive streak.
The man has a winning mentality and that's something we need to instill in the majority of the squad, so the halves wont be the sole benefactors of his tutalege and his aura.
Plus, if we bamboozle him with how great we think he is and what a great opportunity it is to impart his own personal DNA on the current/next crop of players, we might get him extra cheap...
Saw a live interview with Maloney last weekend on Fox and he has no intention of heading home to Aus anytime soon. He said he and his family love France and plan to stay on a couple more years there. He advised he plans to play local footy and work with the Dragons there in some capacity.
