Woods doesn't add anything to our pack. He's slow and a bad lateral defender - we've got Twal who is good at everything Woods is good at but better, same as Seyfarth and Tamou is another Woods type forward

We need another Mikaele type forward who runs hard and offloads, not another Woods. A very sideways move

I wouldn't use Mikaele as my prototype but yes was are short at least one forward that has impact in attack and defence, not another metre eater that is a workhorse in defense, but provides little impact.

Not Mikaele as a whole but when Mikaele feels like Charging onto the footy and producing good offloads, that's what we need more of ?

No I agree with you fully mate. The top sides have 2 or 3 really damaging runners of the football, we have about 0.5 in Mikaele. That .5 is the most important thing we need to add to this team.

Guys like Twal and Seyfarth are good but they aren't big physical game breaking forwards. Like you said the top teams all have a guy or two like that. We need a JWH type prop

I'd just like a forwardwho breaks theline - doesn't need to be a prop.

I have seen enough of Seyfarth this season to think he is a game breaking forward huge upside with him , he is improving every season that in itself gives me that impression. Alex not so much but he has his own characteristics he is the defensive forward and his stats prove this !

Good contribution.

Young Daniel Sykes who played a few games in NSW Cup is also impressive. He also has a willingness to get stuck in and make life uncomfortable for opponents. Both Sykes and Seyfarth are local juniors which augers well for our junior development.

Is Sykes on the smaller size forwards?

I'd estimate he'd be slightly taller than Cam Murray. He is suited to the game today. He hits hard and runs it hard. There is a lot to like about his spirit. I hope he comes on as we could do with his talent in the NRL team.

Whose younger and or the better talent? Perry or Sykes. In some footage it seems as though Perry is more the build of a prop. I’ve seen both play and admittedly regularly get them confused. Can’t be the only one.

IMO both are very talented. Perry's junior football on the footage I have viewed is at prop. He seems to be a high impact forward, of the type we need in our NRL team. I really enjoy watching both play. That is the great benefit of having strong junior recruitment.

Same ages?

Sorry I can't answer that question. Someone else may be able to assist.

@willow ?

What's the question sorry?

Ages of Perry and Sykes?

Nah sorry, not sure on either.

Perry would be 18- 19

A few nervous breakdowns will be had if Hastings isn’t 7 methinks.

Always thought of him as filling a ball playing lock role if not the 14 to take over from Mbye, though will be surprised if he isn't playing in the halves to open the season due to Doueihi's ACL. With Adam not meeting the expectations of many when playing there, I would now be unsurprised if Jackson remains there with Doueihi at centre.

This ideal of him playing lock is fantasy...
He can't tackle and is slower than Twal.

Brooks fan by any chance?

Can you read by any chance (Or you just choose not to)? Let me break it down for you...

Hastings hasn't been bought to the club to play a position he's never played!!
(LOCK)
- Hastings won't be a 13 at this club next year - Or any other club anytime soon.

I hope that's cleared my statement up for you....
Now, Now... Back to your halfback bashing, But keep a keen eye out,
There'll be other posts from time to time outside that narrative...

Lol - you’re bagging a bloke before he has even played a game.
Can I break it down … he can’t tackle?
Never been known to be a poor tackler.
Slower than Twal?
????
Back to your Hastings bashing …

Played 90 odd First Grade games....
NEVER played in the middle...
We'll put him there just for your argument
- See what you like about his tackling then...

I guess the hooker defends on the wing?

Really a downvote?
What part of that question was debatable. And not the sarcasm part.

WTF are you talking about....
This whole text has been about Hastings being bought to the club to play lock (Jersey 13)
I stated simply, more than once (so I thought) That Hastings isn't a lock, hasn't ever played lock, and hasn't been bought to the club to play lock...

It seems everyone is actually arguing my exact point with me...

bro, there is no way hastings will be playing lock (#13), he has never been a lock

My man...
What about a "Ball Playing" lock.... Do you think he could do that for us?
- I Mean, Forget all the tackles and Metres Lock Forwards are supposed to make, And just concentrate on the "Ball Playing" aspect of being a middle forward...

Should be easy enough yeah?, Even though He's Not played that position (ever) and been playing in a far inferior comp for the last 4 years or so??

I mean, It's a possibility right?

we should sign luai for lock

We should sign luai for target practice.

I’m confused, on one hand your saying he won’t play lock, then further in the conversation your asking if he’d make a good ball playing lock.

Either way, you said he has never played in the middle well half of his ‘47’ fg games he has played as a backup dummy half. He has played in the middle.

You're certainly not on your own, That seems to be happening to everyone...

I thought a genuine game-breaking centre would be our main need for 2022.

Yep lets sign ANOTHER CENTER!

Every hiring, every talk it's CENTER CENTER CENTER.

We have James Roberts I think still on the books, TT and Oliver G.

But hey lets sign another center. Make sure any junior we have with talent knows our back line is blocked for their advancement with 3 people in front of them. (sure the door is still open with recent performances).

We have a problem in our spine, we have one fullback (a good one in Daine Laurie) but yes our problem is in the Centers! *facepalm*

Now I am up for Hiring a Center and wing who defend and play well together. But adding someone new in our backline just resets our defense. People need to learn who they can trust and how to defend. Pairing Nofo or our wing with someone new will take 6 months to get a solid combination.
Heck Adam D. makes sense at Center and up'd our defense there. Make a bid for Jerome Luai and move Doueini to Center.

Unless we are talking a really solid defender who can really up our abilities, why on earth would we hire a Center!
Elliot makes more sense and to get a good pipe from the dogs forward pack makes sense.

We lack for centres - TT will miss half of next season. AJ comes back, but how good we don't know. Gildart will most likely start in KOE and JTJ is yet to have an option taken up on his contract, which leaves us short. Israel Ogden gets a good chance to secure a starting position and the other one is wide open.

One or two centres, ideally with a little speed our are a major problem...getting some middle forwards with size and go forward to prevent us being dominated is equally challenging

We have a large pack as it is, it’s getting them to move better, quicker and stay focussed.

A pet peeve of mine sums up our forward pack and if there was a stat captured I’m sure it will back it up.

Most teams hold down after the chase, give away the 6 again and let the rest of the side get into position to line up the next runner in defence.

Too often we would not chase hard enough on the kick return chase and dominate slow the first tackle however we would get eager to make up for it on the next tackle and give away a six again by shooting off the line early.

A slower ruck and thus giving away a six again is fine as the opposition has been physically slowed down, however jumping off your line early as the ball is played does nothing to slow down the speed of play and ends up putting us further on the back foot. When the play is 10metres out the attack is relatively compressed anyway so there is no need to rush off quicker then needed. Although because their line speed was overall poor perhaps that was necessary just to keep up with the other team.

Viliame Kikau is set to be squeezed out of the Panthers, with Penrith unable to match the $900k offers rival clubs are willing to play ? Transfer Whispers: bit.ly/38SJYSg

Thoughts?

I wouldn't take Kikau for half a million. He's lazy and has a highlight reel running over halves and outside backs.

He gets smashed by other forwards. Would be totally useless at WT.

Would be very similar to an Adam Blair signing.

I got tired of repeating that Hastings isn't coming to the club to play lock...

The latter is sarcasm - If you can't beat them, Join them.

Hastings is coming to the club to become the highest paid KOE Cup player in the comp

I see what you are doing … the reverse of your past predictions of somebody who’s going to be the next big thing and they end up permanent reserve graders. ?
Besides, Brooksy should have that honour.

Tim Simona had Speed .......and the club booted him because of it ......

No I think it was because he was the Architect of the Sportsbet bet with mates product ( or bet against mates as it was for him)
