I was thinking the other day that the perfect 14 would be a forward that can also play hooker.

Cameron Mciness would've been perfect, starting 13 and moving to 9 to allow the hooker a break... however he is now signed, sealed and delivered to the sharks.

Examples are players like Radley, Cheese or going back to guys like Elijah Taylor and Lewis Brown.

Lock, second rower types than can and have also played hooker also.

Long story, short...
If we can move on from forum favourites... Nofo, Brooks, Mbye(Gone) and now Liddle, with news of him being a detractor from the coache.. I'd be all in on moving Liddle on and backing young Jake Simpkin... then bringing in, the forward/hooker type for that 14 role.

The guy I'm thinking of is Ray Stone.
Seeing him play 9 for Parra right now in the semi final and he's definitely doing a job.
Great defense and hits hard.
Has a crisp pass.
And he's off contract I believe.

Thoughts?

Sorry @Russell

The club has discussed using Hastings in that role.

agree the hooker / 14 woukd suit Hastings

I highly doubt ray stone would come too tigers he was a tigers jr (I’m pretty sure) who got left out In the cold by us!! But I would love too see him throw on a tigers jersey again!

We had 2 Similar Players at the same time, We chose the better one in Jacob Giles - Stoney kicked on through hard work and Jacob got injured and dropped off...
Shame, But thems the breaks...

Both back rowers?

A few nervous breakdowns will be had if Hastings isn’t 7 methinks.

Always thought of him as filling a ball playing lock role if not the 14 to take over from Mbye, though will be surprised if he isn't playing in the halves to open the season due to Doueihi's ACL. With Adam not meeting the expectations of many when playing there, I would now be unsurprised if Jackson remains there with Doueihi at centre.

This ideal of him playing lock is fantasy...
He can't tackle and is slower than Twal.

Brooks fan by any chance?

Can you read by any chance (Or you just choose not to)? Let me break it down for you...

Hastings hasn't been bought to the club to play a position he's never played!!
(LOCK)
- Hastings won't be a 13 at this club next year - Or any other club anytime soon.

I hope that's cleared my statement up for you....
Now, Now... Back to your halfback bashing, But keep a keen eye out,
There'll be other posts from time to time outside that narrative...

Lol - you’re bagging a bloke before he has even played a game.
Can I break it down … he can’t tackle?
Never been known to be a poor tackler.
Slower than Twal?

We'll put him there just for your argument

I guess the hooker defends on the wing?

Really a downvote?
What part of that question was debatable. And not the sarcasm part.

Helium Luki still unsigned from what I can find.

Obviously need to balance experience and youth in the roster, though our experienced players are the ones that have let us down this year which means experience is good but has to be the right fit still

I think Helium is a gas player.

Definitely something noble about him.

What planet are you on???

Hastings is so far in front of Brooks as a half it's not funny. Not in the first 13? Wow!!!! You would'nt know a footballer if he jumped into the shower with you.

If a bloke jumps in the shower with me, what should I be on the look out for to indicate his first grade status?

He’s coming to take Brooks job.

Stone was a great player in NYC but was so small and had a lot of concussion issues. The game was designed for the Taumololo's back then, now it's designed for more agile players like him. He always hit real hard, just got his head in the wrong spot. But was all heart.

Problem is by the time we develop an agile squad the rules will change to support power again

Round and Round....
The comments I made (That I feel I've had to re-iterate a whole bunch) were made to someone who mentioned Hastings coming to play lock....
My initial reply (More than once - to spell it out, again) were that Hastings IS NOT a LOCK - And HAS NOT been recruited to the Tigers to Play LOCK, And won't be Playing LOCK at our club or any other - Any time soon...

Thanks for your support....

Aaron Woods
Curtis Scott
Adam Elliot

Someone help us.

Need to help ourselves first 🙂

So this is what' it's like when the bottom of the barrel is reached? Been on a slow descent the last ten years and we've finally reached it.
You know we're desperate when we take back a captain that smeared and betrayed us.
You know we're desperate when we want a serial idiot with the drink and behaviour.
You know we're desperate when we get a person who thinks it's OK to betray the trust his partner puts in him.
In the words of the immortal ex-captain - It is what it is.

Woods doesn't add anything to our pack. He's slow and a bad lateral defender - we've got Twal who is good at everything Woods is good at but better, same as Seyfarth and Tamou is another Woods type forward

We need another Mikaele type forward who runs hard and offloads, not another Woods. A very sideways move

I wouldn't use Mikaele as my prototype but yes was are short at least one forward that has impact in attack and defence, not another metre eater that is a workhorse in defense, but provides little impact.

Not Mikaele as a whole but when Mikaele feels like Charging onto the footy and producing good offloads, that's what we need more of ?

No I agree with you fully mate. The top sides have 2 or 3 really damaging runners of the football, we have about 0.5 in Mikaele. That .5 is the most important thing we need to add to this team.

Guys like Twal and Seyfarth are good but they aren't big physical game breaking forwards. Like you said the top teams all have a guy or two like that. We need a JWH type prop

I'd just like a forwardwho breaks theline - doesn't need to be a prop.

I stated simply, more than once (so I thought) That Hastings isn't a lock, hasn't ever played lock, and hasn't been bought to the club to play lock...

Good contribution.

Young Daniel Sykes who played a few games in NSW Cup is also impressive. He also has a willingness to get stuck in and make life uncomfortable for opponents. Both Sykes and Seyfarth are local juniors which augers well for our junior development.

Really a downvote?
What part of that question was debatable. And not the sarcasm part.

WTF are you talking about....
This whole text has been about Hastings being bought to the club to play lock (Jersey 13)
I stated simply, more than once (so I thought) That Hastings isn't a lock, hasn't ever played lock, and hasn't been bought to the club to play lock...

It seems everyone is actually arguing my exact point with me...

bro, there is no way hastings will be playing lock (#13), he has never been a lock

My man...
What about a "Ball Playing" lock.... Do you think he could do that for us?
- I Mean, Forget all the tackles and Metres Lock Forwards are supposed to make, And just concentrate on the "Ball Playing" aspect of being a middle forward...

Should be easy enough yeah?, Even though He's Not played that position (ever) and been playing in a far inferior comp for the last 4 years or so??

I mean, It's a possibility right?

The fact Seyfarth is rated shows people how bad our forward rotation actually is .....he has improved granted ...but he was coming from such a low point he couldn't go backwards ....

I have seen enough of Seyfarth this season to think he is a game breaking forward huge upside with him , he is improving every season that in itself gives me that impression. Alex not so much but he has his own characteristics he is the defensive forward and his stats prove this !

Good contribution.

Young Daniel Sykes who played a few games in NSW Cup is also impressive. He also has a willingness to get stuck in and make life uncomfortable for opponents. Both Sykes and Seyfarth are local juniors which augers well for our junior development.

Is Sykes on the smaller size forwards?

I'd estimate he'd be slightly taller than Cam Murray. He is suited to the game today. He hits hard and runs it hard. There is a lot to like about his spirit. I hope he comes on as we could do with his talent in the NRL team.

????
Back to your Hastings bashing …

Played 90 odd First Grade games....
NEVER played in the middle...
We'll put him there just for your argument
- See what you like about his tackling then...
