I was thinking the other day that the perfect 14 would be a forward that can also play hooker.

Cameron Mciness would've been perfect, starting 13 and moving to 9 to allow the hooker a break... however he is now signed, sealed and delivered to the sharks.

Examples are players like Radley, Cheese or going back to guys like Elijah Taylor and Lewis Brown.

Lock, second rower types than can and have also played hooker also.

Long story, short...
If we can move on from forum favourites... Nofo, Brooks, Mbye(Gone) and now Liddle, with news of him being a detractor from the coache.. I'd be all in on moving Liddle on and backing young Jake Simpkin... then bringing in, the forward/hooker type for that 14 role.

The guy I'm thinking of is Ray Stone.
Seeing him play 9 for Parra right now in the semi final and he's definitely doing a job.
Great defense and hits hard.
Has a crisp pass.
And he's off contract I believe.

Ray Stone is the WT junior, appearantly we were not interesting at the time

He was too small for the forwards at the time. The rule changes in the last 2 years have changed all that.

Strangely enough his best football by far was under a coach that supposedly he dosen't like.He has been average to mediocre at Pawwa

I highly doubt ray stone would come too tigers he was a tigers jr (I’m pretty sure) who got left out In the cold by us!! But I would love too see him throw on a tigers jersey again!

I highly doubt ray stone would come too tigers he was a tigers jr (I’m pretty sure) who got left out In the cold by us!! But I would love too see him throw on a tigers jersey again!

We had 2 Similar Players at the same time, We chose the better one in Jacob Giles - Stoney kicked on through hard work and Jacob got injured and dropped off...
Shame, But thems the breaks...

I’m gonna propose a theory. Feel free to disagree. But I think the number 1 reason why players like BJ and Roberts failed is out of laziness. I don’t think Elliot is lazy

I agree with you on BJ. I don't believe Roberts is lazy. He lacked opportunity in our backline.

Elliot is not lazy. If it was a one-off occurrence I would be interested. But it is repeated.


I reckon the common factor is alcohol. I stopped drinking some years back because of the things I did when I was drinking, things that didn't always match with the ethics I believe I have. I just reckon, like a proportion of the population that alcohol puts him in places and situations he might avoid if sober.

I'm not preaching at anyone cos I know most people don't have issues with alcohol, and enjoy it, but it seems a lot of stuff Elliott gets involved in, is after a day/night of drinking.

Good on you mate. Takes a man to admit they have a problem and an ever bigger one to do something about it. You’re right some people have issues with Alcohol and some don’t. I like a beer but have been one of the lucky ones where it doesn’t change my behaviour. I feel for some young blokes in the NRL who clearly have an issue with Alcohol but don’t seem to be able to walk away from it. I guess sometimes it’s hard to take that first step.

Thanks. Appreciate the post. I've got it in my family history, and I just reached a point where I had to make a decision whether I wanted to keep the beer, or my career and family. But I couldn't have done it when I was young. I don't know Adam Elliott but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he did decide to stop drinking, whether some of his issues started to get easier. I remember the year Todd Carney swore off it and he had a stellar season, rather than his other incidents he's more famous for. But like you say, easier said than done.

I think keppie came through around the same time aswell if my memory serves me correctly. We have had a few come through who weren’t the best but stuck with it and are playing good footy now
