All this Review is achieving is wasting valuable time in recruiting decent capable players.. What a wierd and wasteful mob the Wests tigers organisation is.

Madge isn't safe yet.

Wish the same for the board pascoe and hartigan. All time low for the club

With Hartigan and assistance from Sheens, our club is well placed to recruit new talent. IMO acquiring good young players on the cusp of the NRL is an excellent outcome. You only have to revisit the Laurie and Utoikamanu signings to realise the value they bring to our team. My fingers are crossed a new coach will bring an incremental improvement to our play generally but specifically our defence.

Yeah, I don't know how people don't see this.

Sheens has been out of the loop for years and Hartigan has not set the world alight.

Both are intelligent men and assets to WTs. I have confidence in both men.

Confidence can be misplaced and when it is it becomes dangerous.
Maybe I’ll be corrected next year. Wait and see.

Depends what leads to that confidence.

Agreed. There seems to be some blind faith though and that’s a worry.

I don't have blind faith.

I’m not necessarily saying you. I don’t know you. I’m speaking generally.

I base my opinion on Hartigan on conversations, he has an outstanding knowledge of the game, players right across the game and I like his approach. I believe he is a massive asset to this club.

Maybe he should be in pathways and talent identification then and not general manager..

No he is good in the GM role.

Also I’m genuinely curious, what makes you believe he is good in that role? You have obviously met him, could he just be a good talker? It seems he is great at identifying talent but I’m yet to see why he deserves that role with all the rumours of not returning calls or emails

The rumour of not returning calls or emails came from 1 bloke, Simon Woolford. Whose only current league official position is coach of Wagga Kangaroos. After he got sacked in his UK coaching role he was cold calling the club trying to get interest in British players that he did not officially represent trying to get a slice of any deal he could.

I'm glad Hartigan had the sense to fob off a park footy coach who was trying to make himself a quick buck. Woolford is a grub

Fair enough mate, I agree re Woolford. I thought there was more then just him complaining about no response from Hartigan but could be wrong.

Someone else on here complained about hartigan from experience he has with his son at the Roosters. Was surprised got a senior role with us. Going off pascoe track record wouldn't be surprised if hartigan not suitable for the role although he is doing a better job then that nit wit Kelly another pascoe appointment

Losing Hartigan will set us back years.

As pointed out by others already, I wouldn't expect much by way of recruitment until the coaching situation is resolved.

Positive being, unlike previous appointments, the next coach will have some immediate cap space to spend.

A lot of cap space lol, it is why it is so important to get this decision right now.

And if Ciraldo is selected, hopefully some young players wanting to follow him to the WTs.

You can only get who’s available.
Apart from Burton (signed from reserves) and Hetherington (unwanted) there weren’t many Panthers jumping ship to join Barrett when he moved on.

The Panthers have locked up most of their important players and from the sounds of it Kikau who’s inconsistent and demanding big money is the only big name option. He’s a beast but a player for a contending team not battlers.

I hope they don’t make decisions based on getting players off other clubs it won’t work.

I am extremely concerned about our recruitment.

Last year we signed Grant to a 1 year contract (agreed loan deal) and gave him first grade experience & sent him back to the storm a better player.

Until I see extensions signed, I am not convinced that we are not doing the same (over more time) with Laurie, Blore & Stefano

Until we bring through our own juniors we will continue to be a stepping stone club. We are 5 years away I would be surprised if we keep many of these young kids. Our real hope is with the current Flegg players and below. Hopefully we get it right and increase no extend before the last year of contracts. Agents are smart though we have to pay to retain.

IMO we need visible structural change and for me that means the coach if we can get a suitable superior option (IMO Ciraldo or stay with Madge). We need to show the current and potential future players that the club is making changes but do it without butchering the good things that have been put in place (junior pathways etc).

I know everyone wants a top down clean out and I understand the superficial desire for that, but IMO its a dangerous route. The club DOES need systemic change but it also has the green shoots of good systems at the bottom that could/should pay off in 3-5years time. It is the nature of a board that if we replace the board in total, they are compelled to "Do something" and clean everything and everyone out. That might work but it also pushes everything back to square one.

After waiting the last 10 years, I dont want to go back to square 1. I like what I see with junior pathways, I like the idea of Sheens role, in principle I like Hartigans role, love the CoE being here in 12 months.

I want a "lite" clean out. All coaching staff except Madge if we cant get Ciraldo and I'd punt Burgess from the Board and replace him with an independent.

Why is Ciraldo a superior option with a handful of games as an NRL caretaker coach…

Being an assistant coach is all great and all but just like the step up from reserve grade to NRL as a player it is even more of a jump for a Coach especially at our Club..

Had you said Bennett then yeah..

Why does anyone think the dogs are realistically offering Munster 1.8 million a year. Especially when they have zero cap space. It's just a laugh

The Panthers have a lot of depth throughout the grades. A player or players on the cusp of the NRL such as Laure are good value and likely to be attracted.

The Pom might be off the mark on this one.

I hope so mate, Ciraldo is the bloke we need, even though you don't like the idea of a rookie coach. He has Penrith as the best defensive team in the NRL, he has respect among the players, and he could attract some quality players. He basically is everything Madge is not, and we need

Barrett had the Panthers attack looking pretty good too…didn’t transcend to the Bulldogs.

Anything said about who our coach will be.

Keen to know myself... Fingers crossed we know this week

The Pom has indicated that Madge would hold his coaching position.

I don't think it's just Woolford's account which has caused any raised doubts, but rather several instances.
Sam McIntyre and the two flegg players going elsewhere, are players that have left and there's been no mention of Hartigan navigating though contract negotiations with them - though I'm not sure if Hartigan is responsible for the flegg boys (?). In fact Sam himself stated he'd never heard back from the club.
Finucane got a contract offer (from us) on the eve of signing with Sharks.
Then it was further revealed on the forum that Madge personally approached Vaughan, the day he signed with the Dogs. Plus we all personally witnessed Pascoe and Lee assume control of the TPJ contract or they certainly played the biggest hand at bungling it.

I'm not sure of what the scope of his duties and responsibilities are but as someone who is supposed to have the final say and at the helm of our recruitment, retention and tasked with shaping the team, through these instances he's also contributing to the common miscommunication problems at the organisation.
It's obviously just my opinion but I hope it's not a common feature of his like others at the club, as otherwise he's been quite capable in his scouting ability and capabilities to identify competitive edge - through our juniors.

The TPJ negotiations weren't bungled.
