I don't understand the hate for Liddle. Can anyone explain where this comes from? And not just "I reckon ".... facts please. I see a capable dummy half who has exploded clear for try's on several occasions and managed a reasonable pack to positive metreage on most occasions. Please explain any improvement you can see with the signing of another hooker. People on here were screaming for Simpkin to be given a go until he was given a go, We saw how that turned out.

I think the club look at Starling in Canberra, a very similar dummy half to Simpkin and hope in a 2 year deal, Hodgson can have the same impact on him. Starling been one of the best young hookers in the game the last season and a half

Is there any evidence that Hodgson actually did anything for Starling's game?

Raiders have handled his development really well since they’ve had him. Giving him those 20-30 minute spells while Hodgson remains on the field has basically given him the starting 9 role at Canberra and a brand new deal.

There’s not a doubt in my mind Hodgson has aided his development as they’d no doubt have a bond and extra chats sharing the same role.

The fact is, the club needs some leadership among the playing group and Hodgson provides that, whilst strengthening a position we are weak in. Now it's just a question of how much the Raiders chip in for next season.

Whilst it has been frustrating to watch the media spin repeated articles on the WT ability to recruit, you can't blame the club for being selective and not wasting cash - we hold the cards with respect to Hodgson as the Raiders cap is very strained. I wouldn't be surprised if we get him at a similar price to Peachy for 2 years, which IMO is a good deal.

Would also be good seeing Canberra cap burn.

Josh is on 700k at the moment i would say Canberra would chip in a fair chunk of it to ship him hopefully this is the start of what Canberra had when they signed a few English boys

No issue with Liddle in the squad here. I think he is a great running 14, solid enough in other aspects of the game.

He is not an 80 minute hooker at NRL level yet, and his service can be patchy. It is hard to say more than "I reckon" as I've never seen a stat for crispness of delivery from DH. They should invent one though. I'd keep him and give Simpkin 12 more months, but if he is white anting at all he has to go (have only seen rumours of it here).

2 things we lack that this switch addresses. Guys that buy into a better culture, and that means playing at 100% irrespective of the coach. And the second is leaders who understand success.

Hodgson is not perfect, but in these 2 areas he is a slight upgrade at worst.

Now we need 1, preferably 2 fast outside backs, and 1 very angry, ugly, stinky forward.

As Gould would say, Maybe he's high in the tackle count because they're not afraid to run at him.

I'm not writing Liddle off, but any smart coach would see that his attack and defence both deteriorate when he does a lot of work. Might be fitter after a good off-season, but I'm not confident. Peach could be good cover for him if he can't play 80.

He’s like many of our players, too good for reggies but they’ll get you to 13th place.
