There was something about the muscles around his eyes being tight and causing blurred vision when looking up. I am not a doctor and that is not the exact diagnosis lol.

Damn, not great for a guy that has to catch things and judge distances for a living.

Mikaele had similar issues - he dropped the ball a lot a couple of years ago due to his eyesight.

But it’s the ones who criticise darlings like Simpkin and Hastings that get called out for being unfair and should rein it in. Classic double standards.

If you can't see the difference between being heavily critical of a teenage rookie and a player in their mid 20s who have failed every season then you should never judge a single player ever again.
Outstanding young players deserve the opporunity to develop their games and bodies into first grade standard. Players who have been playing first grade for years are open slather. If form or fitness still deny them the ability to play to their potential then questions will very correctly be asked about them.
Some clubs don't tolerate mediocrity. We have celebrated mediocrity for a long time now. It's our clubs most identifiable trait. The willingness to accept poor performance as acceptable. It isn't. This is why we haven't learned from previous mistakes and don't play finals footy.

Taking into consideration games played, Brooks would be the most overpriced player in the comp. Prove me wrong.

The club also sees good in Brooks.

One played 63 minutes of NRL in his preferred position, went quite well and you bagged him outright. The other 8 years and 163 games of utter garbage and you troll anyone who dares be critical.

week or two if he does, but that won't be changing for months.

So either he's genuinely interested and wants to come down now or he doesn't.

Personally I don't see a point in coming down. Our facilities are being constructed. He's not interested in demountables. There's not much to see that can't be shared over photos or facetime.

Just because a player carries themselves well doesn't make them a quality player. And no one is saying that he has done anything 'wrong' to the club... they are judging his poor performance and ineffective kicking/running game. This is not garbage.

The Simpkin thing is the same as brooks and Liddle . People built up their expectations , and when reality didn’t meet their fairytale , they turned on the player . It was obvious from 2017 brooks was destined for above average first grade half eg. Matt Orford career . But nope because he’s not the next Andrew johns , then he’s somehow a reserve grader ??
Same thing for Liddle and Simpkin is headed that way as well . They evaluate them on what they want them to be rather than what they are .

Brooks is a very average first grade half. He's in the bottom 4 for me and is a major reason why we remain average. This has nothing to do with me wanting him to be the next Johns although, wouldn't that be nice? Seriously, wouldn't it be nice if he had even a slither of the skill of Johns? I don't know why people are so passionate to defend mediocrity. These are professionals on loads of money.

IF that was the game he played 63mins at centre, I agree. I have never rated him but in that one game I saw what he could be. Could be a false dawn, particularly with the injury.

Hoping that Hastings turns out to be a gun. Hoping he clicks with Brooks who is a more passive half and maybe he will. There is a stack of potential.

No, he doesn't have an attitude problem. If anything he will have the best attitude out of all the players at our club. Will form part of our future leadership group in Hastings, Utoikamanu, Doueihi.

Listen to rugby league guru podcast with Jackson Hastings. It sounds like he wants to play and I believe will have the best attitude at the club next year.

The reason people are passionate about him is simply because he wears our colours and people are used to seeing that. It’s a cognitive bias, like the endowment effect.
In any other organisation, or team, he would have been moved on years ago.
The fact that management have kept him on is completely unacceptable - it shows no desire. But there is no accountability here at WT and I’m not even sure now that Sheens will change that.
As for his passionate but ever-dwindling fan club, it’s not just wearing rose glasses. It’s a personality trait thing, in their refusal to accept they were wrong in their judgement of him, so they double down. That’s why for the most part you can’t convince them.
I’ve given up.

Kepaoa imo has the makings of an outstanding centre three quarter. He has that mix of pace, power, step and a great pass left to right. He reminds me of some of the great All Black centres. I believe Sheens will add the polish to him to make him a fine centre for WTs.

He has stated a few times his preferred position is the wing. That didn’t work as he can’t catch, so he was tried in the centres.

Are you sure on that mate? My memory (which admittedly isn't the best) was that centre was his position and that he was just on the wing to fill a gap. Ken has claimed ownership of that wing now though thankfully, which makes it a moot point.

My memory is that centre is his best position and then FB.
