Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

My fear is if Cotric doesn't sign, the Jet will get a gig. His NRL days are behind him, sadly.

If Cotric doesn’t come than yeah he will get another contract there’s not a lot of talent left to sign for next year so unless a big name Centre is suddenly up for grabs JTJ gets another run in 22

Sharkies fan here but I have a soft spot for the Tigers as I live in the area. I heard the Ferris rumours, he would be a good signing if you do get him on minimum wage. Very talented player but has just been awfully unlucky with injuries.

I’d be surprised if you’re considering him as a 2nd row option as I’ve only ever seen him play centre. Great footwork and speed, knows how to find the try line. He would’ve cemented his spot in the centre’s with Ramien by now if not for his injury woes.

Go to 2:20 - 2:30 this was his only NRL game so far but a snippet of what he’s capable of

I would really like the club to pension off Tamou, doesnt really offer much for 2022 and opens up a spot for another class junior

Club can’t pension him off unless he wants too there is still time for that to happen but I think Tamou is here for 22

I'm a Wog... proud of my heritage.
It's not derogatory anymore. It's actually an endearing term

By whose definition.
The people that belittled you and then convince you to accept it and wear it as badge of honour.
A term that is an insult used by people too ignorant to be aware and show some respect to your country of origin.
I can only say that you should be ashamed of the label you accept to carry and that you didn’t have the guts to call those basterds out.
Your ancestors would be spinning in their graves.

I went to the Greek cakeshop at Kogarah the other week. The lady who served me asked where I was from and I replied Australia. No she said, where are you from you're not Australian. I told her I had Greek heritage and a huge smile crossed her face. It brought a smile to my face because my family are from Ireland. I love Australia because of the Greeks, Italians, Vietnamese and all the immigrants Australia brought in, It would be pretty boring without them!

Signing up to be a Greek in 'Signing Suggestions And Rumours " section. At least there is an faint connection more so than the recent posts here.

Mate I know I’m off the topic…. But this really boils my blood.
I’ll end it here. Sorry.

My grandfather was brought here at the age of 9 from Lebanon after his family were killed.
He was an orphan who grew up in the liechardt area who passed a long time ago.
He’s nickname was wogga and he loved it from all accounts.
So I have Lebanese heritage an it’s easy to tell from my appearance that I do.
All the boys I grew up with refer to me as wogga and it’s never been a sledge or at least I’ve never felt it to be, it’s part of my DNA and they recognise that, they’ve never once made it feel uncomfortable.
I guess only people with the mind an sense to feel the opposite way about it either had a bad experience or have used the term themselves for the wrong reasons.

Let him retire and employ him in some coaching role.

How do people think the dogs are signing Paulo? Dolphins have already offered him 800k. Dogs are already under huge cap pressure for 23, with tehir current wage bill they can't be cap compliant. Paying at least 250k of thompson, plus his replacement on 800k+ means they're outlaying more than what they already have under their cap. They would have 15-20 players on minimum wage if they get Paulo. Don't see it happening.

When Paulo left Raiders he wanted to go back to Sydney as that was where his family is. I'd assume this is still the case so I can see him taking significantly less than the Dolphins offer to remain in Sydney.
Although i expect Paulo to stay at Eels, he may prefer the Dogs for any number of reasons that we don't know. He may think the recent movement makes the Dogs a more formidable team moving forward or there may be underlying reasons, unrelated to contract values, for the Eels exodus.

Can you see the irony here?

There isn't any irony here. There would be if I told him how to feel.

When you tell someone something is not offensive, you're telling them they shouldn't feel offended.

(sorry for dragging this even further off topic)

Tim Sheens is back, so centres playing backrow and wingers upfront may be back on the menu.

I got no issue taking him on in a coaching role if he wants to but the club can’t tell him to retire early only he can make that choice

I reckon Brad Arthur is one reason all the players seem to be leaving but who knows Paulo did want to return to Sydney due to family so I can’t see him going to the Dolphins unless the money is just too good to resist but I have to give Dogs credit they have signed a lot of talent that would want to make people go there but we are in a better position to recruit him than the Dogs but who knows if we are even interested in him

Dogs sign Paulo
Tigers sign Thompson and Cotric
Eels sign simmonson works well for me

With a combined total worth of 1.45m p.a, I hope we'd be paying significantly less than that so we could securely tie up Stefano.

Is there a list on the forum with the estimated contract values of our playing roster (including our future recruits)?
I'd love to know what we're paying everyone.

I can only assume we panicked and overpaid guys like Joe O and Ken M cos we couldn’t get anyone else. Our roster is still way below par.
