They’re both nothing special and will never play First Grade imo.

Neither were good enough to play Reserve Grade or U/21’s this year other than when injuries struck.

Both were stuck in Third Grade with Ryde-Eastwood for almost the entirety of 2021.

No loss.

Weren’t a few people on here talking them all up a while back ?

Yeah, they did actually look to have some promise in their earlier years but fell off more recently.

Not sure of their injury history or if they simply just aren't good enough.

Josh played I think just the one game of U/21's this year and was terrible and played Third Grade for Ryde-Eastwood the rest of the time, while Adam played for Ryde-Eastwood the entire year.

Sad thing for the club was Jordan didn’t want to leave his beloved club, but when Fita Hala cancels meetings and doesn’t get back in contact to arrange another meeting there’s not much a player can do. I know his manager contacted the club and never even got a call or email back.

Always been clear Hill has a future but he dropped the ball on that one.

I'd say if the club wanted to resign him and Hal stuffed up he would be sacked. If he is still employed by the club maybe he has done his job. Easier for family to blame the club than admit the truth...

Edit: should add there is a reason meetings are cancelled and not rebooked. Its because the player is not wanted. The manager and player were probably told... may not tell the family though....

This is the only reason I made reference to his family asking for some assurance with helping with work/studies (or whatever it was they wanted for Jordan).
I'm not even sure what's in the scope of the club's responsibilities - particularly with our junior pathways players - but aside from that incompetence, there was mention that what I've alluded to was the only factor holding things up. As he was extremely keen to stay on, from what was said on here at the time.
You'd never see a club like Melbourne not accommodate a simple need like that. Or that's my feelings on it anyway.

So tbh the type of incentives we offer could be the difference to why we're able to retain or recruit the next best talent - aside from paper bags, the decision is always made easier for a player being targeted by the Roosters, as their future is always guaranteed to be taken care of post footy.
On that note I don't think what the family was wanting was too much of an ask really and I hope the club does offer some type of support in this area.

Pretty sure education is outside the cap as well. Not hard to sort a kid out through a sponsor if we really tried. Cronk had a Harvard degree in his rosters contract from memory

Yeah I just think that the club should be able to demonstrate some ability of helping players expand their horizons. That's all.
I feel, regardless of what stage they're at - and especially until our roster is more highly competitive and successful - the club could instill values that not only benefits the team, but also which players can apply throughout their lives.
When players sign with Melbourne, Bellamy sends them to building sites to impose a culture of hard work, teamwork and dedication.
Nurture their growth. Give them a sense of trust and commitment, and they'll want to be loyal to a club like ours.

As long as we’re picking more of the right ones to hang onto our youth strategy should bear fruit eventually

I don’t disagree, but don’t feel Farah was particularly suited to captain - or very well liked by the officials…
That passion made him abrasive in his approach, and I feel it affected the calls we got on the field…

Douhie better lesrn to play centre or lock becaus if we are going well then Brooks and Hastings are firing
look at fitler as an example with the Roosters he went from a 6 to a lock, the good ones fit in where they can to help the team

Douhie better lesrn to play centre or lock becaus if we are going well then Brooks and Hastings are firing
look at fitler as an example with the Roosters he went from a 6 to a lock, the good ones fit in where they can to help the team

Brooks hasn't fired in like 3 years, I'd be very surprised if he suddenly became better than Doueihi in the halves

Realistically Brooks and Hastings compete against each other for the halfback jersey when Doueihi is fully fit and playing well again, they are both halfbacks first and foremost anyway.
