Hill was studying and working, his TEA from the club covered the study. At no point did he ask the club to find him work, the only issue he had was the club paying the TEA to him.

He’s fully qualified in Disability Support and is now studying to become a Physio.

Thanks for confirmation, sounds like a devoted and very well adjusted young man. Good luck to him with his studies.
Would love to hear any updates.

Hill had signed with Mackay a week after those 2 were sacked and the meeting “postponed” now that Scolari has done his knee and is out for the season, the club have made contact with Mackay to release Hill back to Tigers pending his current contract. The club have admitted they dropped the ball with Hill and are putting an offer together.
Hill has a clause in his contract that allows him to return to an NRL club at any time.
Tigers now have the Cowboys chasing Hill, I heard that the coach at Cowboys rates Hill and isn’t at all surprised they treated him the way they did.

Cowboys coach best worry about the way he's been treating the best player he has (One of the best in the game - Dally M winner) rather than the way the Tigers are looking out at the up and comers...

I agree.
He’s a smart kid, he’ll do what he needs to do!
I hear he sacked his manager after this whole thing too.

Thanks for the info and especially as it moved the conversation past half pairs of pants and shoes. Look forward to news on Hill returning if that's what works for him.

Conversely, sad to hear one youngster possibly returning after a knee issue and another succumbing to similar injury.

When Scolari did his Knee, Hill was straight on the phone to him and went to see him. That group of Flegg boys are all very good mates.
That’s the one thing Lambkin did well,
He has them well grouped and bonded

Train and trial contract. Rumours that he’s being promoted to the top 30, though nothing is confirmed. It’s likely given we haven’t signed anyone else.

Sad thing for the club was Jordan didn’t want to leave his beloved club, but when Fita Hala cancels meetings and doesn’t get back in contact to arrange another meeting there’s not much a player can do. I know his manager contacted the club and never even got a call or email back.
Tigers loss is certainly Mackay Cutters gain, they’ve got a loyal and talented kid heading their way

Has fafita hala left Tigers?

He should....

Has the ultimate dream job and can't even do the basics.

Always been clear Hill has a future but he dropped the ball on that one.

I'd say if the club wanted to resign him and Hal stuffed up he would be sacked. If he is still employed by the club maybe he has done his job. Easier for family to blame the club than admit the truth...

Edit: should add there is a reason meetings are cancelled and not rebooked. Its because the player is not wanted. The manager and player were probably told... may not tell the family though....

spot on if he wanted to be signed Sheens would have instructed it to happen
good luck to Hill but better prospects around the corner I would think

Pretty sure he was gone before Sheens arrived.

If the club didn’t want him then that should have been communicated. Part of running a professional business is delivering bad news as well as good news.

100%

Seems like they did want to keep him, hence the two failed roosters appointees (Hala and Hartigan) arranging the meetings but failing to follow through.

**Says more about them than the kid who had big wraps, tried hard and wanted to stay but had to take an offer from another club because those two couldn't do their job.**

No wonder they got sacked.

This is the only reason I made reference to his family asking for some assurance with helping with work/studies (or whatever it was they wanted for Jordan).
I'm not even sure what's in the scope of the club's responsibilities - particularly with our junior pathways players - but aside from that incompetence, there was mention that what I've alluded to was the only factor holding things up. As he was extremely keen to stay on, from what was said on here at the time.
You'd never see a club like Melbourne not accommodate a simple need like that. Or that's my feelings on it anyway.

So tbh the type of incentives we offer could be the difference to why we're able to retain or recruit the next best talent - aside from paper bags, the decision is always made easier for a player being targeted by the Roosters, as their future is always guaranteed to be taken care of post footy.
On that note I don't think what the family was wanting was too much of an ask really and I hope the club does offer some type of support in this area.

Pretty sure education is outside the cap as well. Not hard to sort a kid out through a sponsor if we really tried. Cronk had a Harvard degree in his rosters contract from memory

I was unsure about this, so thankyou.
Yeah I just think that the club should be able to demonstrate some ability of helping players expand their horizons. That's all.
I feel, regardless of what stage they're at - and especially until our roster is more highly competitive and successful - the club could instill values that not only benefits the team, but also which players can apply throughout their lives.
When players sign with Melbourne, Bellamy sends them to building sites to impose a culture of hard work, teamwork and dedication.
Nurture their growth. Give them a sense of trust and commitment, and they'll want to be loyal to a club like ours.

Spot on. Makes a huge difference to juniors and their parents when choosing clubs. Such a small thing as well. Get an education officer appointed, let the, loo after it, partner with tafe or a college etc. easy

Fair comparison hill zero first grade games to Cronk multiple premiership winner

Yeah I agree. Why would Cronk even want a degree, but the kids probably do, the parents even more. Seems like you missed the point completely
