Hastings definitely has a lot of captain and leadership qualities in his arsenal.

For that alone , if I was looking in who should captain (I'd pick AD.. but with him out....) Hastings for mine ticks all the boxes and is so far ahead of anyone else in the team, 0 games in the jersey or not.

We've been using Tamou (15 minute turkey) and Brooks (doesn't talk and definitely doesn't lead from the front... like we've seen Hastings do in SL)

If you disagree, who else is there?

Watching your halfback putting much bigger players on their backsides inspire teammates and is leading from the front.

Let's see how Hastings performs when much bigger and much faster forwards either run at him or around him..

Watching him kick the ball dead on the last tackle.

Inspiring.

Your argument is bankrupt. You need new material.

How about watching him tank as captain in our last game?

How’d his 16 mates go that day?

He was the captain ... a pitiful excuse as a leader.
Some of the guys (not many) tried.
Recall reading Twal made 61 tackles.
**After Brooks' miserable turns as captain it's no wonder some people will throw anyone else up as an option.**

What’s that conversation got to do with Brooks since he isn’t the captain?

He was then.

It seems like a petty thing to argue.

It was in response to the people taking aim at the handful who mentioned Hastings maybe captain material …being shouted down like half the forum promoted the idea.
All the time nobody mentioned the zero characteristics of a leader shown by Brooks in the last few games of the year… including tanking.
They seem happy with that I suppose.
If it’s not Tamou as captain it will have to be Twal this year… at least until Doueihi gets back.
Brooks was a disgrace to the club.

Gee that's a spin if I've ever heard it... anything to defend Brooks

There's absolutely nothing inspiring about Brooks in his last few seasons. As a forward you work hard to get up the field and he kicks it dead. As a winger you work hard to get into a try scoring opportunity and he executes the play wrong

His defence has become a myth. 6th most missed tackles in the entire NRL. Sure he's better than some halfbacks but defence is probably the last thing I'm looking for in a halfback... Thurston and Lockyer couldn't defend at all.

Anyway it'll be Tamou captain for now while he's still around. 2023 the role is up for grabs

True Hastings will have quality players coming at him week in week out unlike English Super League competition he needs to be able to play at NRL level first let alone captain.
I would give it to Brooks and Twal

Was it the game at Leichhardt during the win against the Panthers when Brooks came from the other side of the field and ran down the Penrith attacker (it may have been Edwards) who was in the clear and headed for a try. That was inspirational.

Stats can be misleading. The more tackles you are required to make the more you are likely to miss. This is especially so for Brooks where forwards are instructed to run at him to tire him out and nullify his attacking game.

No one will want to hear it, But in the last Dogs game was the same....
Some tackles weren't effective, But they were tackles he shouldn't have had to make as others missed their man, stood by and watched.... Chee Kam was a joke.

Brooks was covering all over the park, When they scored - Wasn't often Brooks wasn't in the frame busting his back side to try stop them.

Brooks did not have a great game but he was one of the few who never dogged it and kept on trying till the end.He always puts in the effort and i wish a few others would follow his example

Yup...
Everyone sees the attempt on Meaney and bases conclusions off that,
They don't mention the guys that left him posted, Didn't slide and watched Meaney stroll by them leaving it with Brooks on the line.

Don’t think I’ve actually seen a signing suggestion in this thread for a solid month, I’ll throw a name out there.

Paul Alamoti…..

Hugeeeee wraps on him coming through the grades as a centre at the doggies, I think he’ll get a first grade chance sometime this year as this kid is one of the best juniors I’ve seen in a long time

Knowing the centre position is up for grabs, this kid is soo special!

Contract runs out end of 2023, so is free to discuss a contract come November 1st this year and with all the salary cap mess the dogs may be in we have a real chance to offfer some good money and a first grade spot.

Love for us to grab this guy, I won’t put his highlight video in here but what this kid was doing at 16-17 with pure strength and agility has to be seen to be believed

Dodged a bullet on Curtis Scott.

Let’s not prejudge this situation a la Reynolds, but yes, I agree, Scott seems to attract a lot of unwanted “attention” shall we say…

Just say no to Fergo

I'd say yes bloke can play and cover a few positions.

It would best the most West tigers thing to do, pay overs from an ageing player, who doesn't want to be here, for one last hurrah who has burnt every other bridge through his own stupidity. Fergo has his always marched to the beat of his own drum, which I'm sure won't match Madge's team first mantra. So yeah seems like a match made in heaven, sign him up, why are we waiting.
