Zane Musgrove caught driving with a suspended license apparently

Surely it’s time to cut this bloke loose. He’s either in trouble, injured or under done.

FFS, the original comment said "apparently". But yet, the pile-on begins, from those who I'm sure have never been stupid or made a mistake in their lives. Model citizens all of them, no doubt. As if.

Okay mate. I’ve made mistakes and guess what they cost me my job. He’s made a heap and maybe it’ll cost him his job.

I don't see the connection with him, apparently, breaking a traffic/driving rule and that being justification for him being sacked as a professional NRL player. That's my point.

Mate this is his third or fourth incident. And let’s me honest driving without a license is a deliberate and know offence. He lost his licence for driving under the influence (if I remember correct) so it shows he doesn’t care for the consequences of his actions so maybe losing his job will help him in life

You’re not just saying this cos he’s provided little value, and you see this as an opportunity to cut him loose are you? ?

If course that comes into it.

Then that immediately disqualifies it then. It shouldn’t matter who it is. Everyone should be treated the same in these cases.

To an extend I agree but unfortunately we both know that’s not now things work. If this was he’s first offence you could give him more work. An employee is always going to be willing to offer additional support to someone who provides more output.

He’s not going to get punted over a minor offence.

You can't punt him over that. It's ridiculous.

If it was an isolated incident i would agree with you but if he continues in getting attention from the police for bad/illegal behaviour there will come a time when he will be seen as being in breach of his contract because he putting the club in disrepute.
I have no idea when that will be but every indiscretion would be getting him closer to that outcome.

He is a moron. You can't sack him for that though. You are right as well in that at some point he will be gone. He doesn't get it does he.

Still I hope he kills it for us.

Madge is desperate to have Musgrave regain the mongrel he showed when at Souths. Charging at the line without fear and getting post contact metres is an area where we lack in.
I would think Sheens would have read the riot act to him regarding his latest indiscretion. (well one would hope)
As he said recently "I'm not afraid to upset people"

The unfortunately reality is that the mad dogs that you want in your team (at least some of your roster), that personality type that makes them a little unhinged, to strike fear into opponents, charge into the line, yearn for contact and collision, have that wild look in the eye, toe the line between legal and illegal... it usually doesn't just turn off when they leave the field.

So if you want the odd fearsome lunatic in your side, unfortunately you need to expect and potentially accept some off-field nonsense (of course there is a clear limit to what is acceptable), and that's not even mentioning the other contributing factors for footballers getting in trouble - ego, money, youth, lack of intellect, being protected and championed your whole life, no experience as a Regular Joe etc.

The handful of players that can be absolute scary monsters on-field, then mostly sensible, reliable humans off-field... they end up becoming legends of the game like Gareth Ellis, Gorden Tallis etc. Maybe even Tallis is a stride to far to say he was sensible and reliable during his playing career.

Kenny Edwards is my poster-boy for "gone too far lunacy". That bloke was completely unhinged and scary for all the right and wrong reasons. If you can stay generally on the positive side of the Kenny Edwards scale, you might be alright.

Gives us an out, bloke has been a disappointment on and off the field. Madge and the club have stuck by him and he continuously let's our brand down.

No it doesn't

Yes it does, not his first offence bloke must be on his last chance. Seriously how many dumb mistakes has this guy made.

The recency bias towards Musgrove is astounding. Two poor performances while struggling with injury and all of a sudden he's a dud signing and we gotta tear up his contract for a driving offence (won't happen)

Majority of his games he's been good for us. He provides good impact off the bench, causes defenders a lot of problems and his post contact metres are excellent. His main issue has been injury which is out of everyone's control, hopefully he gets fit and plays a whole season this year!

Attitude stinks. Not a smart guy. Too many stuff ups now. Madges worst decision to hand him a long contract IMO.

He's clearly dumb off the field but his attitude towards actual footy seems good. A driving offence where he didn't endanger anyone isn't that bad I reckon

Musgrove is Russ Packer 2.0 in the fact that you get 4 or 5 games a year out of him if you're lucky. Can't wait until we finally start to assemble a roster of committed players who actually spend more time on the paddock than being a cheerleader from the grandstands.

I2021 in nutshell injured in all stars couldn't move sideways turbo tore him apart then didn't play rest of season.

Last five years have been similar crazy to have signed him like we did on the back of training potential.

A refreshed Moses Mbye has no expectation about his role at the Dragons after conceding he desperately needed a shift from Wests Tigers, who he says are close to bringing out the best in Luke Brooks.

The former State of Origin player is among a host of recruits for St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin, and is expected to be used in a utility role, which garnered him representative honours for Queensland.

NRL player Curtis Scott to defend allegations of domestic violence

NRL player Curtis Scott will defend allegations of domestic violence made by his former girlfriend.

But after asking for an early release from his big-money contract at the Tigers and then going through an on-again, off-again switch to St George Illawarra, Mbye admits even he’s unsure what role he will play for the Red V.

Junior Amone and Jayden Sullivan are expected to battle it out for the No.6 role alongside Ben Hunt, while Griffin will have strike centres Zac Lomax and Manly recruit Moses Suli as attacking threats out wide. It means Mbye is poised for a super-sub role.

“It’s actually quite refreshing having that open mind about what I’m going to be doing,” he said. “I’ve been training pretty much in every position, and for me it’s just about making the 17 each week. That’s the goal.

“If I can just be fit, be ready and be healthy [that will be great]. In my conversations with ‘Hook’ [Griffin], I’m just willing to learn. He’s such a deep thinker of the game, but in saying that he keeps it very simple for his players.

‘You come up with an impression in your head what you think someone is going to be like, but you’re just not sure.’

Moses Mbye on Dragons coach Anthony Griffin
“I’d played against his teams before and I had no relationship with him until he got to the Dragons. You come up with an impression in your head what you think someone is going to be like, but you’re just not sure.

“If you’re from central Queensland like ‘Hook’ is, you either play footy and, if you’re not good enough, you start coaching. And if you’re not good enough to coach, you usually start refereeing. That’s usually how it goes in central Queensland.

“But he just has good expectations of what he wants out of his players, and he lets you know when you’re not living up to those expectations.”

The utility role isn’t new to Mbye. He started at five-eighth, fullback, centre and off the bench under Michael Maguire at the Tigers last year as the 28-year-old compensated for injuries and different strategies.

But he knew his time at one joint venture was coming to a close, and traded it in for another. He’s since watched the Tigers rebuff attempts from Newcastle to bring halfback Brooks to the Knights, having played alongside the mercurial No.7 for a lot of 2021.

“You keep seeing guys like Brooksy used as a bit of a punching bag, but he’s just an exceptional player,” Mbye said. “It’s going to take one little thing to unlock him and he’ll be away. He just needed a few more people around him to give him the knowledge and information and he’ll be fine.

“I think what they’ve gone and done now is get some real experienced guys with [Tim] Sheens and [Nathan] Cayless, and I think they’ll be a real threat this year. I think they’re definitely moving in the right direction.

“But for me, I knew I needed a change. I didn’t have a preference where I wanted to go, but I just knew I needed a change from the Tigers. I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity at the Dragons.

“There’s a really massive crop of young talent at this club. There’s four or five really exceptional juniors through the system and the way they carry themselves with absolute maturity, and they look like they know what they want exactly out of the game while being willing to learn ... I’ve enjoyed training besides those guys.”
