In case you haven’t heard Jesse Bromwich is now going to Dolphins so I reckon 2 things will happen 1. His brother will follow him (possibly) and 2. I expect Melbourne to target Stefano to replace him unless we can resign him before he goes to market

He's 32 now, i think the storm would have already started planning for his replacement. Stefano wouldn't be available until 2024 at the very earliest too so it doesn't really work for them anyway.

And the storm rarely buy stars for elite money, they produce their own and probably have his replacement already in their system.

Smart play by the Storm, you dont go in on players at the end. You find a replacement at half their price.

Dolphins only looking at him for leadership qualities. Worked out well for us and Tamou lol. Its a bit of a desperate move.

Good lord what has happened to this place? I have lurked this forum for almost 20 years and I have never seen it so bad.

Was pretty excited to login and see 12 pages of new chat in the signing suggestions and rumours thread, thinking obviously some juicy transfer goss was underway. Instead it's 12 pages of an egotistical yelling contest about which judgemental perspective is the only possible opinion that anyone is allowed to contemplate. You aren't even debating you just keep stone wall repeating the same rhetoric over and over again.

Maybe we can start a "dick measuring" thread so you can all whip it out and fill these voids that you are so desperately trying to validate through these keyboard screaming matches. At least start a Luke Brooks, Jacob Liddle, Luciano thread and screech in there, let the rest of the forum members actually use the signings thread to get excited about potential squad development.

Yep agree …… sadly that’s the current state of affairs on this site. Most of value posters have baled.

Jesse Bromwich is 5 years past his best. He'll be good for 20 minutes a game ala Tamou. Kenny Bromwich on the other hand would be a good pick-up for any club though.

Kenny Bromwich is the poor mans Adam Blair

It’s a good signing for the Dolphins. Hopefully we can extend Stefano soon and avoid another contract circus. As everyone’s mentioned before, he’s a keeper.

On another note, is there potential trouble brewing at the Storm? I know they never really go through rebuilding phases they’ve lost some high profile players lately - Addo-Carr, Hynes and Finucane for 2022 and Smith, Kaufusi, and Bromwich all leaving in 2023. Plus there’s talk that Asofa-Solomona might be heading to Japanese Rugby due to the COVID situation.

Most of those guys are rep players too so they won’t be easy to replace.

They managed to replace Slater, Cronk and Smith. They’ll be fine.

I think they lost Slater, Cronk, and Smith gradually which gave them time to unearth and blood some talented players. I think these losses will really test their depth but I’ve been wrong about the Storm in so many occasions so I see your point.

It's due to their outstanding culture.......there's no druggies or female-beaters in their great club?
Would love nothing more than to see their slow demise??

KB is much more consistent than Blair, without the added bonus of weekly brainfarts.

I reckon Storm's success is due to what B. Smith was talking about, booze.
Bonding is a very important.
Drinking copious quantities of alcohol is very important in building a winning culture 😉
I should be coach of the tigers.

Nah..Storms success and culture over the long term can only be attributed to the best coach weve ever witnessed, who turns ordinary players into good first graders and good ones into great.
Plus... induces "passion" and "team" into the culture
I so much regret we didnt get him 20 odd yrs ago

I saw him doing a training session with his players and i was so impressed with him

He was pushing his players and training with them I think it was if I can do it what's the problem with you

Could you imagine if the Tigers squad was sent to Melbourne for an off season and Complaint about it ....Madge got his training methods from Melbourne

Some might hate both it and him, but at least @WILLOW would have nipped a lot of the crap in the bud if not hunted out of here along with @cochise

Don't know the thoughts of @Kul primarily, nor the remaining mods @Geo @Spartan117 or @Cultured_Bogan, though pretty sure that a good percentage if not easy majority would prefer intervention?

Moses made semis
Tedesco made semis
Woods made semis

The problem is not all Brooks but our team, we have had a mixture of bad coaching / average players and some bad luck

If Brooks had moved to a Roosters or Parramatta he would have been playing semis too.
I don't see people bagging Douhie he also has not played semis since leaving souths, or Tamou he was grand finalist captain to not making the semis.
We need to keep upgrading our squad we are doing that

Bingo, Andrew Johns only 7 that could get average team to finals

I think he only won 2 premierships as well. Easily the best player I've ever seen. He could do it all.

My 3rd best.
Smith and Lockyer top him

Brooks hasnt been right for our past 3 coaches maybe the problem is brooks

He won halfback of the year under our previous coach… but don’t let facts get in the way.

Couldn’t this all go in one of the 17 Luke Brooks threads available?

Halfback of the Year for a team who came 9th. In 2018, Cronk had his debut year at Chooks and won a GF, Adam Reynolds got South's to Top 4 and Cleary debuted in Origin, but yeah Brooks was the best 7 in the Comp ???

Man you are salty! Did Brooksy steal your girlfriend or something?

No, she wouldn't leave me, im actually successful. I wouldn't and don't rate any 7 who has played 170 games and is yet to play in a Semi.
We all have different expectations of players....Champ

Well son, be careful because thats 170 more games than you have played! And if you are referring to being successful in dollar terms I doubt you earn $800k a year.........whoops 2 things to worry about now!🙂

??? I don't earn 800k a year.
I'm paid really well though and according to my talent and skill set. I haven't bluffed my employer into over paying me for years like Brooks has. If I get a 20 year function in my honour, I promise I have the nous to run through the banner properly, unlike your boy Brooks. Now jog on Champ

He hasn’t though ! He’s paid at or around someone of his skill set is paid ie. first grade halfbacks . Blake green was getting 550k in the end and he was on one leg when he signed the last couple of contracts . Townsend is another good example of the supply demand issue currently .
Just because you don’t value him at 800k doesn’t mean the market doesn’t . He’s a top 8 half . Sorry that’s just true . Does it mean he’s by definition an “800k” player . And what we all generally know that label to mean ? No it doesn’t . But the guy earns 800k because the market dictates he earns it . I guarantee you , that if the knights could take brooks right now at full freight they would have done it yesterday . Same for the raiders , bulldogs , cowboys , and arguably the sharks. the Rabbits and Warriors are going with the youth and Johnston , for what that’s worth , and the dragons are stuck with hunt , and now Mbye .
Like I said top 8 half .
The real issue isnt brooks or Townsend on 800k , but what the hell have we been doing for the last 20 years with halves development in Australia . How do we not have 100 benji Marshalls running around right now , or Jonathon Thurstons .
But you all see Brooks -800k NOT WORTH IT . Based on what metric ? He’d probably get more if he was on the open market . It’s the same reason houses went through the roof . Lack of supply in key suburbs. Is that shack down the road worth 700k ? Perfect world , no way ! But it is because someone is willing to pay it . It’s our perspective that’s failed to move not the value .

I think the problem everyone has is that he is NOT a Top 8 half. You're wrong.

Source: He's never played a finals game ever. Therefore he's never been in a Top 8 team, therefore he's never been a Top 8 half

Whatever man . Your logic is anything but logical , so I can’t be bothered trying to reason with people like you anymore . He’s worth what he’s on . Source; The 4 teams willing to pay full freight to get him

What 4 teams were willing to take him at full frieght? That's a complete fallacy

Off the top some teams imo that would or should be willing:
Knights: Definitely
Bulldogs: Definitely
Dragons: Likely (Loading up rookies)
Redcliffe: Definitely
Cowboys: would have taken him over Townsend any day
Broncos: to partner Reynolds

Where did you get this information? The only team who have shown interest are the Knights

Exactly, and they were only willing to pay $600k of his $850k salary

Every player who has left the WT has played finals footy. Maybe the problem is the WT

Almost every player,

You are right. The Club / Environment greatly impacts a player and their performance.

Ask yourself - Would anyone in our squad improve if they were playing at Melb or the Rosters???

It’s simple, IMO, need to play to the strengths around 3-4 new players; add Stef, Doueihi and at least one other spine member (could be Laurie and Hastings)... otherwise Brooks will drown under pressure for another year and a bunch of our best options or current recruits will begin looking elsewhere, new coach, cycle starts again.

Need to constantly be looking forward this year but obviously remain grounded as a supporter group and temper any expectations.

Aiming up in defence with a few blokes willing to call out and set the D structure/line speed will be huge..

all comes down to our application and attitude in defence. if we show the same level of intent we did last year we are in for another year of pulling our hair out. let's hope Cayless manages to fix things and our edges begin to work as a unit as opposed to a group of individuals.

Cayless’ man management and individual rapport with his big boppers is a big strength, according to reports

Could be huge.

That’s why he is the koala

Conspiracy theories aside, the reality is players don’t last if they aren’t up to scratch. Look at Esan Marstsrs. No one wants him. If Brooks were to leave, there would be takers. No one plays nearly 200 games out of charity.

I think you are confusing what is being said.
The guy can play footy to a reasonably high standard on occasion.
As a halfback, he is a koala. 1 higher than average year and 7 poor years…soon to be 8?
