Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don't mind the Brown signing-
Just hope his body is up to it.

There was whispers he's cooked.

8 Klemmer
9 Api
10 Offa
11 Bateman
12 Papalii
13 Brown

14 Blore
15 Pole
16 Twal
17 Utoikamanu

Talau, Marama- up next.
Basically a whole new pack but has a slight smell of dads army about it. They'll get us into games this year but doubt if we have the points in us to capitalise.

Pretty youthful, besides Klem and Brown .. being 28 and 29.

We got good players in the wings waiting for their chance.

Talau, Matamua, Kautoga and the likes.

This is very Sheens - like, 05 formula.
Surrounding the talented kids around some experienced workers.

Not real keen on Brown, rather really hoping that Sheens and the assistant boy's high opinions and expectations of Talau and Blore prove fruitful.

WT need at least one of them to contribute at a decent level to succeed.

These guys are coming back from long term injuries and are injury prone.

We need experienced depth,
Can't rely on the kids.

He rarely ran the ball. Off the dummy half he would run to the line turn to outside and either out the back or back into the front rower running on. When he ran it was slow. His short kicking game was pretty good but his long game wasn't.

To be fair Brooks and Douhie went doing much.

I don't know. I just don't find and of our halves very exciting.
Which is totally sad because our halves usually are heart attack makers.

I swear I watched Benji games where we lost 18-0. But it was us almost scoring a try and dropping the ball, the opposite team scoring a try, then we take possession and almost score. Fumble, then they almost score but we scramble defence.

Yeah, though that pair are reasonably experienced despite their downtime, having played the equal of a full season or best part of it.

Together with their strength and maturity gains, I am expecting some good footy out of them, apart from the injury history elephant filling the room.

Let it be similar to Robbie and Tedesco, in that they are now past their horror runs. Adam too.

Adam should be good 2nd year back from his ACL. But bloody hell someone needs to teach him how to tackle.

Disagree to be honest, I think he brings aggression and experience.
I think Klemmer is a better example of both of those but Brown will still offer something to the younger guys if he comes, I think.

He played 20 out of a possible 28 games this season so I don't think he's busted.

And I reckon he's actually a very good ball-player, he was almost playing as a third half if you watched him for Italy at the World Cup.

Played Origin only a couple years ago too.
I assume were talking Nathan Brown from Parramatta?
I literlly googled this and realised it was heaps old:

The Parra pack has Mongrel. That's what we need, the question is will Brown bring it with him or just take our money for a few years. ... I hope Brown + Klemmer bring that bashing culture they are known for.

Brown would be a good signing for the right price, he’s still a workhorse and showed that at the World Cup, if we don’t pay overs which I doubt we will as he will just be wanting to play nrl I’m all for it, he always give 100%

Api and Bateman 29 or more aswell. The kids will need to be up to it.

No really fussed if brown comes or not. I wouldn’t be unhappy. As he adds depth to the forwards and could give the likes of Talau, Blore and Matamua time to build into the season.
However, I’d tread with caution as I only see Brown playing NRL level for another year or so then he would be done. We would only need him for 1 year. So often these type of deals with older players don’t work out for us.

No to Brown, Aaron, Mitchell or Teddy. This isn’t back to the future, regardless of the coaching staff.
To build from within, we need to show that players from our turf are important to us.

That's how we build from our juniors. That's how we re-sign people for an under-market price and build a team. Show them we're more than a logo and that the brand is something deeper.

We can never be a checkbook club full of mercenaries. We need something more. Bringing as many of them home, where they can play a part, starts to re-grow that brand with a depth of purpose that we've lost in years gone by.

It's going to help us retain our juniors.
