Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I sometimes think these prima donnas called footballers love the drama of dragging out a signing. Sets the social media scene alight, has media hacks second guessing each other and going for one upmanship, has fans arguing amongst themselves and with dropkicks from other forums. Who doesn't love the off season.
I doubt this very much especially something like contract negs, but I know some players love geeing up fans knowing some are starving for any sort of goss

So first grade standard in 23 but not 24?
Your not worth the effort! the post is self exlplainitory, the fact that the club has not re-signed them, means what ? It means they are not convinced they are good enough for even the wooden spooners. That means in plain english, that they doubt they are first grade standard, and unless they perform with a better pack , they are gone.!

It’s a pretty big decision. Affects his whole family. His old man won’t be happy though if Mitch signs with 🐯 or 🐶

I wonder if his father will influence his decision to sign with the eels like in 2017…

Will it ever but when there is a Uncle Nick there is a way maybe golf followed by some beach sprints abit like the botany bay gift some big cash prizes Nick vs Suaalil over 120 M it could be big maybe get Victor involved
At least Nick can work on his Greek tan

But if you can have them all coming off contract the same time you can get them and the player more money

Look what happened with Tedesco ....Brooks ...Woods ....Moses
The exact situation Isaac caused the last time, but I'm pretty sure at that time Brooks left Isaac Moses and has representation elsewhere

Out of curiosity Is da Silva on a train and trial contract or is he in the top 30 as a 17 year old.
Train and trial contract.

Da Silva will start the year in SG Ball with Western Suburbs and then play Flegg later in the year when that starts.

This kid is as they say these days "OG" !!. If he keeps going on the trajectory path that he is currently on, I'd say the back end of 2024 season we might see him getting a few runs in the top grade. Very talent kid, great training ethics, a speedy, creative runner with ball in hand, good distribution out of half, gusty and effective defender. Definitely a star in the making, one to hold onto, if we can hold off all the clubs from pouching him.
Yes but with what happen to liddle was poor. Rushing him in too early caused early injuries. With a double shoulder reco the result of a body not ready for the grind of first grade, tacking 120kg giants. Happens all over the league, just because they have the skills doesn’t mean their body have matured enough. Let’s take our time with him, and discuss it with him so he knows why we are holding him back. Remember same thing happened to bunji!!

Is this the right way to do it in your opinion?
These Matts boys were included on train and trial contracts to allow them to train with first grade in the off season and if something dramatic happens either with their form or injuries of top grade squad members they may be called up to firsts.
The alternative is a developmental contract.

Does anyone know the difference between the two? They seem to have the same benefit in ways but obviously there are differences in remuneration.
I’m curious what the terms and conditions to a T&T contract are oppose to a Development contract.

Personally I hope that holiday is a WT TPA. About time we arrived in the real world of elite professional sport.
Most of the players who played in the World cup do not start preseason till early Jan. Bateman to the best of my knowledge has signed but there is no media release till Moses things is resolved as his contract could need a re write

Train and trial earn $1K/week. Unsure on the conditions but it seems that a player probably gets given 4 weeks notice or something of the sort when their time is up. Development players earn $60K/year. Their time is guaranteed and they may even have clauses which allow them to be promoted to the top 30.

T&T is a lower paying, less secure job, basically.

I think the main differences are that Development Contracts are fixed contracts, whereas train-and-trial players can be cut at any time (someone correct me if I’m wrong on this).
You can only have a certain number of Development Players.

For example, start of 2021 we had Tyronne Roberts-Davis training with us over pre-season and played both trial matches.
He didn’t perform well in either game and was cut.

Train-and-Trial deals are also cheaper.

Development Contracts also can have clauses in them guaranteeing Top 30 deals for later seasons.

This was the case for Lomi Saukuru going into the Top 30 in 2023, and Josh Feledy’s current Development Deal which guarantees him a Top 30 spot in 2024 and 2025.

Beat me to it.
