Is Brooks a 7 or a 6?
If he is now a six - given we a throwing a bucket load at getting a new 7 - why is he guaranteed the position when he is unproven?
At 28 after years of persisting with him at 7 with plenty of valid reasons for his stalled career, if we now working to provide all the things that are seen as preventing his progression, why are we chasing a 7 to take his spot.
And we if we don't get that 7 - is he our 7 again?

I disagree a bit. Yes he takes wrong options and does dumb stuff a lot but so many halves go missing as well. He isn't great but he isn't a complete dud.

The problem is like that Canterbury game where he supposedly tanked. That was way too harsh criticism. There is no way that was his fault. If anything it shows how he has it tough.

I also think all the excuses are nonsense as well.

Brooks will never be in the top 5 halfbacks of this era let alone top 10 best halfbacks to ever play the game but at the same time no club would have kept Brooks as long as we have. I don’t remember the Bulldogs game too well I choose not to because of the score and everyone that played that game had a bad game. Halves go missing but the good ones usually only go missing for 1 or 2 games max, Brooks goes missing more than a halves player should. If he can improve with the new pack then sit down and discuss a possible extension but if he can’t we have to cut the deadweight and move on. That’s how the strong teams do it and its one Tigers have to do as well if they want to become successful.

The big question is, can we sign better players. Also you are taking it for granted, that they want to stay. Contracts work both ways. It's easy sitting on your bum, " saying get rid of them" , but you must have better coming ! The Moses thing has dragged on forever, that in itself, tells us how hard it is to sign quality players. I , like you think lets see how they, go before extending, but their agents will be shopping them around . We could end up with far worse.

Moses has dragged on and we still don’t know for sure what he’s doing, but at the same time IMO we have to be tough and be risky and not just re-sign them because other clubs would be possibly looking at them. In regards to Brooks I can’t see any of the other Sydney clubs with the possible exception of Bulldogs taking him on as they have halves already sorted at their clubs. Doeuihi may get a few more since he can play different positions and Laurie don’t have much hope for unless he’s just depth. The top teams aren’t afraid to cut the weight and we need to adopt that as well. But I do agree that we need to sign players that cover the ones we’re cutting before we do so.

Not really, no.

You must realise that Moses is getting over a million this season, Parra are now probably offering him 1.2-1.3 for this future contract. If we offer the same money we're shot ducks, we have to offer at least 1-200k more for a player like him.

In any case 1.5mil is the equivalent of 1.2 million in last years cap, so the same cash as the likes of Fifita, DCE etc

The 19-year-old can field offers from rivals until he takes up his player option, but Rothfield questioned how the rising star will fit in the Tricolours’ salary cap.

With a talented squad including James Tedesco, Joey Manu, Angus Crichton, Luke Keary and Sam Walker — there may not be funds available to compete with the million-dollar offers likely to be tabled for Suaalii’s services.

“This young fellow is a sensational player… look everyone in rugby league talks about the Roosters salary cap don’t they,” Rothfield said on the Big Sports Breakfast.

“I just don’t see where they are going to be in a position to pay him, despite the fact he is still a teenager, the eight, nine hundred-thousand, towards a million dollars, that other clubs would be prepared to pay for the brightest young star in rugby league.

I dont have any doubt the Rorters will re-sign all and another 2 or 3 internationals with the cap increase and naught will ever be said.

Brooks in a running 5/8 . Cant manage a game , doesnt have that skill. If Moses doesnt come, I think Sheens thinks Api will manage the game & let Brooks & AD run wide. personally , i dont think this is the answer. As good as Api may be, he is no Robbie Farah.

I still think Suaali is overrated at this point in time. Big boy, with a measure of speed but his inadequacies where exposed when playing fullback in the world cup. Granted he is young & still learning but he is not worth 1M.........600k at a stretch. A parrallel player (not in same position but skill levels) for me was Dave Taylor when he burst onto the scene. Big , skillful played like a halfback. I thought he was gonna be one of the best players ever to play the game , but the candle faded pretty quickly. Only time will tell if Suaalii lives up tho the hype.

I'm trying to remember when old clown nose started his vendetta against the Tigers. Doesn't it go back to the last Sheens era when he was thrown out of the sheds? Or am i misremembering that? Also Fulton, Gibbs etc wouldn't answer his questions or only give 1 word answers. Memory isn't so good on this one.

Long time lurker here, first time poster!

I believe the theory is that he's trying to make the club look bad, just in case a Sydney team is removed from the competition in the near future.

Though knowing rosy cheeks, it wouldn't surprise me if the reasons you mentioned are also a factor!

Brooks and Laurie running g wide if Moses doesn't come. Think Sheens wants pace in his halves behind a dominant pack

Everyone that is off contract now should not be starting talks of staying until they prove they can play with the new pack. No club is going to be actively trying to pursue Brooks so Tigers should be smart and wait to see how he does, if he is still bad they go to look elsewhere and Brooks is moved on that’s how the strong teams recruit.

Recruitment/retention has been excellent. We are /have been in the hunt for quality players which suggests our recruitment and coaching team have traction in a tight player market. To describe the club as "idiots" does not reflect the current situation. There is no "if" according to the comments by Sheens (no doubt with Marshall's agreement). Delaying talks when our players are free to speak with other clubs would result in a less than optimum outcome. I believe we are punching above our weight and also tightly controlling the information coming from the club - no leaks. I like the direction in which we are headed.
