Not Samoan though. Kanakas were Melanesian not Polynesian.More than 80 Pacific Islands. I didn't know it was that large a number of Pacific Island nations involved.

Fingers crossed Benji can coach though. The Tigers isn't like any other coaching gig in the game.Major reason the board went down the Sheens/Marshal/Farah path. It was to make the club a more attractive destination. Plus they lift the profile of the club with the media and potential partners.
Yeah I'm coming round to the idea.Major reason the board went down the Sheens/Marshal/Farah path. It was to make the club a more attractive destination. Plus they lift the profile of the club with the media and potential partners.
Is he related to Marion Seve?
Size, pace, strength, elusive, ball playing and good defence. I like the music as it has some significance for his ancestry.
Kanaka is from the Hawaiian language and means human being. It is referenced to Hawaiians of Polynesian ancestry or more broadly to any Polynesian person. If you are from one of those more than 80 Pacific Island nations in that link you would fall into that category. Not Samoan though. Kanakas were Melanesian not Polynesian.
Funny that, in PNG the word is often used to describe someone from the village or mock someone for being uneducated on a topic.Kanaka is from the Hawaiian language and means human being. The word may have been picked up from Hawaiian, but the Kanakas in Australia were not Hawaiian, and not Samoan. They were Melanesians, not Polynesians, and majority were from the Solomons.Kanaka is from the Hawaiian language and means human being. I'm still not convinced but will gladly eat humble pie if we have reasonable results in the next couple of years.Fingers crossed Benji can coach though. The Tigers isn't like any other coaching gig in the game.
I think after CC knocked back the coaching role, Sheens floated the idea of the new set up and the board thought it may just work . So along with the COE and a reasonably radical coaching set up, the clubs image is on the way upDon't think club that smart sheens idea.
Plus they wanted ciraldo originally but suspect sheens never wanted him.
Horrific song, which mistakenly seems to think Kanakas were Samoan. Good highlights though.

I'm guessing the truth hurtsBut the quality of riposte is the same as you get at a certain Burger joint!
Bloody hell ..taller than Benji at age 14Looks like Keebra Park fullback Kingston Seve is with the club. Seen him take pictures with various other clubs like the Bulldogs and Broncos.View attachment 4322
he's 2x the size of the kids around him
Kanaka isn't probably the right Islander prononced or even spoken wordThe word may have been picked up from Hawaiian, but the Kanakas in Australia were not Hawaiian, and not Samoan. They were Melanesians, not Polynesians, and majority were from the Solomons.
I'm happy to start a seperate 'Kanakas were definitely not Samoan' thread if you want.
His footwork reminds me a little bit of Nigel Vagana ...that little mini skip before the lineHope we signed this Seve kid.
Yeah yeah . . just youtube highlights . . . I know . . . but there's a LOT to like about him !!
Though it shows him at different ages, he's always been the big kid. So he'll fill out nicely.
