Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Doesn’t sound like a guy who has made a decision.

Sounds like a guy that is waiting for the I's to be dotted and the T's crossed but unsure which club that will be. Fingers crossed it's us
'and yes it will be the hardest decision of my life' sounds more like we are in the box seat. You rarely say that unless you putting in preleaving reasons.

If he resigns fair enough but hel lose 1.2million. I know what I would do.

100%.

I loved my previous workplace. The people, the work, the business, they were all great. My wife was about to go on maternity leave with our second child when a business who had been tapping me on the shoulder for a couple of months with no luck came to me and said they'd beat my current salary by $40k per year.

As much as I loved where I worked, you can bet your bottom dollar I signed that contract faster than you can say Wests Tigers.

Haven't looked back.

As a young dad, entering what will be maybe the last contract he signs as a player, he has a huge decision to make, but from where I am standing, an additional $1.2 million over the length of the contract makes it pretty hard to refuse.

I also guarantee if he rejects it and stays with Parramatta, but doesn't win a premiership, he will be regretting the decision.

Basically, he will get paid more at Wests Tigers to not win a premiership.

To be fair too both clubs this is bullshit , he has all the offers with his manager , so is he just grandstanding now because if we are $300,000 more than slimmmy eels and a extra year what the hell is he waiting for , or he just trying to squeeze that extra year out of the eels .

My take on the situation is there are some intricacies / legal activities that need resolving for the duration of his contract in order for him to sign it whilst also be nrl compliant. Given how the clubs have jumped their offers and most of the jumps relates to 3rd party deals this would become complicated for the duration of his deal.

There was talk around a 3rd party for us pulling out weeks ago and new one jumping in last minute.

Origin Dates & Impact

Looking ahead to origin, here is some analysis on its impact to us. Origin is three Wednesday nights this year. Provided it follows the same pattern of all players selected in the origin squads being forced not to play the immediate round before each game, below is the likely impact for us.
Personally I think we’ve done pretty well here as we play Canberra most likely without their origin players two days after origin 1 in Campbelltown, we play the Storm in Campbelltown definitely without their origin players just before game 2, and Newcastle likely missing their origin players two days after game 3 as well. Please note this isn’t meant to be a debate about who makes the origin team, it’s realistic, and I’ve put question marks on the unlikely but possible selections.

Game 1: Wed May 31

BEFORE: Bye weekend - no impact

AFTER: Play Canberra at Campbelltown Fri June 2 (2 days later)
No Koroisau - Tigers
No Wighton, Papali’i - Canberra

Game 2: Wed June 21

BEFORE: Play Storm at Campbelltown Sat 17 June
No Koroisau - Tigers
No Munster, Coates, Grant, Welch - Storm

AFTER: Bye weekend - no impact

Game 3: Wed July 12

BEFORE: Play Sharks at Commbank Thurs 6 July
No Koroisau - Tigers
No Hynes? - Sharks

AFTER: Play Knights at Newcastle Fri 14 July (2 days later)
No Koroisau - Tigers
No Ponga, Gagai, D/J Saifiti? - Knights

Usually if a player was leaning towards staying you go with the “Obviously I’d like to stay here, but it’s with the club and my management now and we’ll come up with a decision on what we do when that times comes”

However, reaffirming how it’s gonna be a hard decision gives the indication he may be letting the eels fans down easily instead of ripping the bandaid

My impressions as well. Or you trot
the old "look, I love this club & the fans"
line out. He's letting them down gently
it would seem. The "I'll leave it to my
management" is telling too. Hasn't had
many media engagements and Parra
have kept him out of the spotlight
recently. We could of course be wrong,
but I wouldn't be confident if I was a Parra
fan. Looks & sounds like he has one
foot out the door. Would suck to be them.

Baby Broncos, anyone?

Let be very clear.

There is zero club discussion around player trading.

The Click Baiter's are everywhere

What makes you say that? Player trading happens every so often when it's mutually beneficial, and we have been the most proactive club out there when it comes to swaps.
I think a player swap is very much on the cards here

Don’t most players play the weekend after SOO?

Gee, you guys just don't get it.
Tom Brbyb clearly told us that Mitch was staying.
Then he told us that he told us so.
Then he gloated about telling us.
Like John Laws says in the Valvoline ads . . . . He knows.
Stop dreaming. It's over.
