Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Buzz saying Lewis Dodd has been warned not to waste his talent at Wests Tigers.
Sounds like somebody at the club ran over Rothfield’s cat?
Who was he warned by though? Is it someone with an idea, is it gilfart who still blames the club for being crap or Buzz himself... who?

Sending off Jackson Hastings after one season when most thought he had a good season in what was a hellish year, only to see the team he is now at improve significantly while we sit miserably at the bottom of the table with no wins, does nothing to encourage any decent halves to commit to this club.
You come to Wests Tigers you get Sheens coach, and Brooks your halves partner. Sheens left the UK not setting the world on fire, enough said about Brooks, and we are the only team in the competition who hasn't won a game aside from our recent history as perennial losers. You don't have to listen to a journo to be able to figure the risks associated with that..

Got to agree that's right up there with the dumbest moves ever made by the tigers but its sure is fierce competition to lead the dumbest moves list

I have seen enough this season from Luke Brooks that has convinced and confirmed to me that we won’t see any change in his performances this season. I am convinced he is suffering from a form of PTSD .. he must have taken a heavy tackle or wack running the ball .. and must have broken a toe nail trying to put a grubber kick into the in-goal in an attempt to gain us another six .. !! He is cooked .. !! The sooner we hit rid of him or replace him the better .. !! He don’t get wrong .. I’m sure he trains the house down and looks like a champ out on the training paddock .. but the training paddock ain’t the playing paddock .. !! He ain’t a kid anymore .. so we can’t keep saying he’s only a kid, he’s got plenty of time to learn .. well he’s had plenty of time and he hasn’t learnt .. !!

I’m not sticking up for brooks and I’m not suggesting the club resigns him but as it has been mentioned he missed the hole pre season. He played well in our last game Maby he’s just starting to get some match fitness back and hopefully he comes good

The Newtown Jets (Sharks Reserves) are no doubt the best quality team across the KOE Cup and Qld Cup competitions, they pile on plenty of points almost every week and when you look at their line up, the forwards are not much to get excited about, so presumably they just do their job, but a vast majority of their 1-7 are NRL quality, some of them already proven.
Obviously Braydon Trindall is the main highlight, I think most people would agree he’s the obvious NRL star halfback in waiting, but they have others such as Marwene Hiroti who is tall, strong and fast, he plays anywhere from 1-5, has scored tries at NRL level for the Rabbitohs a few seasons back and would be a much more seasoned player now with a few more successful seasons at KOE level under his belt.
Sam Stonestreet is a hot young 19y.o prospect, he’s a prolific try scorer who is tall, strong and fast winger/centre/fullback who looks a younger clone of Campbell Graham.
Connor Tracey has always impressed at NRL level with his high energy and determination, but cannot get a look in at NRL level at the Sharks when they are full strength. He is a fantastic utility who would be very valuable to the Wests Tigers.
5/8 and utility Daniel Atkinson who showed his quality in the trials and has the high energy required to lift a struggling team such as Wests Tigers.
Then you have Kayal Iro who has been a standout Centre at this level for the past couple of seasons, he would make many NRL starting sides, but stuck behind two very good centres at the Sharks.
Even Matt Ikavalu who is getting a bit on in age now, but he was quality every time he was called upon at NRL level on the wing for the Roosters. No idea why he’d be happy sitting in reserves at this stage of his career.
I think the majority of them have been smartly contracted as back up players at the Sharks, but all of them would either be guaranteed starters or strongly pushing for NRL selection at Wests Tigers and would significantly boost the quality of our NRL Team/Squad in my opinion.
Surely some good negotiating could work out a way to get them ASAP, even if we offer swapping players who are not working out for us such as Nofa, Laurie, Talau, Brooks etc for this season.

** These players are realistic recruitment options who are surely wanting to play NRL on a regular basis, it won’t happen for them when the Sharks are full strength.
** High energy players are key for lifting a struggling side, so others that are not getting regular NRL game time such as Blake Taafe, Jayden Sullivan and Brad Schneider should also be targets for us.
** Geez it would be nice having a halves selection of Braydon Trindall, Jayden Sullivan, Brad Schneider, Blake Taafe and Daniel Atkinson instead of what we currently have.

The single biggest reason we need new owners and new management. We are a joke.
Spot on . I heard 2 guys in the car park of my golf club .One saying " do you think the tigers will win the bye? The other saying " they couldn't beat my sons U12 side !
New owners one club called " wests tigers " or a slow demise

Our Pathways plan is purely based on our own cup ,flegg and ball teams but as viscious just pointed out more fertile crops among the top cup sides and what about the qld cup ?
Existing stars who have already made it to NRL OR ESL level don't want to come here but those who haven't made it to NRL level of course will
Our own pathways are either mediocre or too young at this stage and I bet you if any of our
own flegg or ball players start looking like future superstars then the big clubs will poach them anyway
So I'm sure looking at the top cup teams Newtown ,Penrith etc and poach from Qld cup too
I'm sure we can find a couple of future star centers and playmakers that we desperately need

I get where you're coming from but the recruitment this season has been better than that of any other club. The missing piece is a half back. Granted, not a small piece. But we know Sheens knew that was a weakness because of his pursuit of Moses, even while seemingly backing Brooks. The Hastings thing is obviously deeper than just him not wanting to play 13.
Sheens has also spoken to Jack Welsby, who club asked for a massive transfer, and Lewis Dodds and it's Dodds' current coach advising him not to go to WT. Might be a conflict of interest there. Sheens knows as well as we all do that a half is paramount. He can't hold a gun to their head.
