It's unusual for a club to have two left foot kickers in the halves. Not saying it can't work, there are plenty of combos that both kick right footed, so no reason you can't have 2 lefties. But it's unusual.

So we just buy players based on being mates.....get Benji away from the recruitment and let Fulton do his job. Hunt is 33 years old and makes no sense to buy out his contract and give him extra years on top if this is indeed any truth to it.

Trindall or Cogger or Lam- you can get 2 of those and still have money left over. That covers your halves depth plus you need a new 5/8 which is where Tracey comes in.
The sharks have raided our team for years - get Trindall, Tracey and Iro and you solve a few problems with cash left over.

If that's the caliber of 7 we are looking at, its typical of past recruitment failures by the club....Cogger failed in 2 NRL stints with the Knight's and the Dogs...no thanks...we need better than this

It’s about consistency. The club clearly identified that our main need was a top halfback. I don’t need to go over the history again.

You don’t then go, “ahh stuff it we will let go of our average halves player and sign someone who’s probably worse”.

You stay the course and keep offering good players the big money contract you can offer. Enter Ben Hunt.

Hunt makes sense, he is requesting an immediate release and reportedly offering 150K to let him go. Tigers have an immediate need for a half / hooker and we have plenty of money.

Surely there is more happening in player negotiations than picking up a fringe half from another club and offering Brooks market rates.

Was interesting listening on Matty John’s podcast. Cronks opinion if it were him he’d sign on unders with a contender this remaining season, get a ring then load up on the next contract somewhere to set his family up after footy. (Paraphrasing). Id like to think we’re a chance for 2024 thereafter.
