Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Where does Wakeham come into the argument ?
My opinion on him is he gives his best and can’t fault him for that, but we cannot possibly have him in our top 30 moving forward.
The point I’m making is our potential recruitment talk is focused on players not under contract for 2024. We should be focusing on any good quality players who are not currently regular starters at their current club. The chances are they would be interested in a pay increase and a likely starting position if we come calling for them.
In the first sentence your honor. Wakeham V the other half back in conversation.

Wakeham can play KOE on a train and trial as an emergency option. It'd have to be a catastrophic emergency though.
Goal kicking aside he’s not even half the player that Jesse Marschke at the Bears is.
If we want someone who’s happy to be a back up, fringe top 30 type of player he should be the one.
Has decent size and speed, decent kicking game, but most importantly regularly goes ti the line and takes a hit to create space for his team mates.

If I was Tigers there is 3 things that need to be done ASAP.
1. Bula - Upgrade and extend him and it will be good for the long run as he has clearly proven he has the top line game. If we wait until end of next year other will poach and good chance, we miss out like Teddy, Moses etc.
2. Go and buy some top line backs who can defend
3. Go and pay the big money for halves as they are your Qtrbacks of the team and it show this year what happens when you don't have them.

There will never be a draft. The Players association have said they'll never agree to it as they believe it's a restriction of trade on their membership
Yeah I know, only way I could ever see it happening is if there is another super league type war where a rebel league brings one in. Or the N.R.L play hard ball at the next eba and don't budge until the rlpa agree to one. Don't think the N.R.L have the stomach for the legal fight though. When Terry Hill took it to court the league landscape was very different, now the game is more international with other leagues don't know if the N.R.L could try to use that to show the players aren't restricted by playing solely in the N.R.L. If they don't want to be part of the draft they can ply their trade elsewhere.

Agreed, although I'd swap 2 and 3 in priority.

1. Extend Bula now. No brainer.

2. Need to sort out our halves desperately. Sezer in the short term will do a job but we need to jag either Latu Fainu or Ethan Sanders. Young halves with plenty to prove in the coming years. Next two tears we transition from Sezer to Fainu/Sanders. Metcalf would be amazing at no.6 but will need a controlling half inside him.

Backline, I think we're only one centre away from a competitive back 5. Toa is solid. Tupou is solid with potential. Bula is solid with potential. Nofo is Nofo. Someone like Bradman Best or Lomax would be good. Manu or Tago would be better. But if reports are true, we may have a talent in Feledy...
