Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Laui money is not the short term or long term answer to fix our problem. to pay overs for a solid first grade player and not elite talent is not worth it.

What i can't get my head around is why the club has allowed Melbourne Storm to suggest to the club that we can take Olam of their hands but they want Galvin and one other Campbelltown junior + Bore. Now Penrith said in the press there happy for Laui to go this year but in return they will take Klemmer and Galvin off our hands.

West Tigers wake the F--k up and stop smelling the tinted roses b/s you have been feeding yourself for so long you have wanted top local juniors to stay and play for the tigers but you are about to start driving them away.
Yeah why do we have to offer up 2 bloody players just to get 1 from them?. Especially Melbourne, they want Olam gone then make it a one for one swap not this oh we want two of your players for our one! They can get stuffed!

Heard on the Radio or some such the other day (Pod Maybe)....
That when the Panthers are losing players - They've been getting a wrap for putting out
fake stories and narratives... Been happening the last few years apparently.
There was mention the 1.4 number for Luai has been peddled by them (Fletcher Maybe?)

But yeah, Apparently they plant stories on the other clubs who're sniffing around their players as some sort of comeuppence or to inflate the numbers around the players they're certain to loose.
Only affects us this year (Round Luai) but are makin a name for themselves in that space...

Dirty tactics maybe - Or playing to win...
Who knows.
It's damage control. Makes it sound like the player went for overs and reduces any talk about the player leaving for other reasons such as culture or not getting a fair crack. It's mainly fed to the fans to make them feel like they still win in some small way (it's not us, they just went for the money).

Klemmer and a gamble on a youngster still to make first grade for Luai seems like a decent no brainer swap to me.

Idk what is too difficult about that decision.

We are all complaining about having shit halves .. So bite the bullet and make it fkn happen. Do we want to get the club moving or what ? Do we want to finally have good halves .. , or still just stay in a rut.
No if the Premiers want those players, you should be tipped off that it's not a deal in your favour.

It’s easy to throw around which players would be good for us to trade for an early Luai release, but you have to weigh up whether the names we’re throwing around are positions the Panthers are actually looking to stock up in. No point offering them Klemmer if Simpkin may be a better fit for them.

Out of all the juniors we have I think Galvin is the best.

He’s a monster athlete.

And he’s touch is first class.

He’ll be a 5/8, 13 or second rower.

Whatever gives him more impact.

Plus he’s not a douche bag, trains hard but still has swagger.

And if Luai signs for 2025 , let’s just wait a year.

Sh’t we’ve waited this long.

Don’t give away the golden eggs yet.

Plus we have a whole year to see which juniors are gonna survive.

It was a pod with the DT journo from memory

Lachlan Galvin is a good player
but lets not get carried away he was kept out of his rep position by Latu, who imo has the much higher ceiling

galvin reminds me of burton/wighton he will have a good career but it will be in the centers or second row

luai is a three time premiership winner a proven leader amongst young polynesian men who make up the majority of our team

we should be doing everything to get him

What exactly is the club meant to do?
How about we let the halves we’ve already bought show what they can do?
We are ok for forwards currently. I expect better from them as a group in 24.
We need outside backs and quite obviously so. I’ll take Olam, but we should not lose good young players for him.

I actually think we're better with Klemmer and not Luai next year.

Either way, next year is likely to be a development year. So, it will be great to get some consistent 1st grade for Latu and Sullivan there to help accelerate their development. With Klemmer, we keep our forward pack which will give them plenty of space.

If we keep 2024 open for those blokes and then have Luai land in 2025, then we can do some serious damage. By then, Sullivan or Latu may be a center, 13 or 14.

4. Doueigh
6. Latu
7. Luai
14. Sullivan
11/12/13/15. Galvin

We can fit them all in.

I like everyone on that list except Douhei.

I wouldn’t be letting Galvin go (apparently he is that good) nor Klemmer.

We can hold off on Luai until 2025.

If anything, the squad we have in 2025 will be even stronger. All the above with an extra year under the belt. And if any clubs want them, pay the transfer fee bitches.

Plus, the signing of Luai, probably Olam and AFB, we will be a destination club.

Sounds good.

Ivan, Fletcher and Matt Cameron are dickheads. But very good at what they do. A club like ours is the target

Bottom line is, there is enormous pressure on the club to turn things around and start climbing up the ladder. So if they can get Luai and a year early they will seriously look at any trade deal.

Personally we have been on struggle street for so long another year down near the bottom I can bear if it means we get to keep our best kids.

Totally agree losing Galvin would be a disaster he’s the same age as Fainu and a better player, Galvin can organise, kick and run the kid is the total package. Would be the perfect half for Luai but once again we have spent big bucks on Sullivan and Fainu. If this was any other commercial entity the financial management they show is mind blowingly amateur. Paying out mistakes has been accepted as fail safe measure by this board. Now the liklehood of paying out Klemmer and Fulton is about to happen but it’s ok it’s only a couple of million bucks, no problemo.
I don't know how you can say Galvin is a better player now than Fainu. Galvin is yet to play against Men in NSW Cup where Fainu has and has also played an International plus U19 Origin
