Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think it's pretty clear Naden and Toa aren't the kinda guys for success plans, but help fill a gap in the time being and are well respected.

Heard from someone at the club that Stefano is really turning heads early in pre season. Apparently looking the fittest he has ever looked and is really standing up at training, also being a leader to the younger forwards coming through. Really positive signs so far.

Both Stefano and the club have been engaging in extension talks and it’s looking increasingly likely he’ll ink a new deal relatively soon.

That's great.
We need him to step up and really lead.

I've heard Nofo is still very much in the shop window - true?

Agree Jay, they aren't quality. Could get there with extremely hard work but are a way off yet. Fill ins.

Hoping we look at locking Pole up well before November 1st too and have him as a high priority on our retention list. He would command significant interest on the market and his price will only increase with the more game time he gets.

I've been a long-time Dave supporter, but he would need to do a lot of work to be a valuable member of the squad. I can't see it.
100%. I was a fan when he re-signed. I did think 5 years was too much though.....but we were desperate; losing top liners left, right and centre.

Now, its different. My expectations are higher. Noffa is taking the piss.

Gus and the pub baron will be knocking on his door. He has big raps on the kid

I would love for the club to go after Jeral Skelton, who absolutely killed it in NSW Cup for the Bulldogs last year.

He is 191 cm and 103kg and can play centre or wing.

Stats for 2023:

14 appearances
12 Tries
14 Line breaks
84 Tackle breaks
68 tackles 9 misses 88.3% tackle efficiency
163 average running metres

Against the Panthers in his 3rd game of first grade he ran for 197 metres, had 1 line break and 9 tackle breaks.

He is off-contract 2024 and would be available 2025

Impressive stats, but sometimes stats can be deceiving.
I watched him play closely a couple of times as I also noticed his super impressive stats and I was disappointed in what I saw.
Despite his imposing figure he only seemed to be half hearted in his hit ups out of trouble and seemed to turn like a truck when defending.
Still there are not too many outside backs with his physical attributes, we have lost our own in Junior Tupou, so he could be a good replacement and who knows how much he could improve this season.
I think I previously read he was in our sights at one stage.
If we are looking for a big powerful winger replacement for Junior Tupou, I still think Semi Valemei is the best option as he’s a very fit and strong athlete who keeps improving with each NRL game under his belt.
