Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Dude, seriously. When you woke up this morning, were you expecting to be on the defensive about something like this? You do realise it’s plausible that this time next year, both Galvin and Luai could both be signed elsewhere. Why are you telling me that isn’t a big deal?
To be fair they are looking to lock in Galvin in the next few months.

And now that the initial shock has worn of, we are still guaranteed luai for 2 years

Worst case scenario we have him for 2 years.

In which case it solves our dilemma and we have Galvin and fainu in the halves

I'm glass half full this morning 😅

Yeah, man. I’ll give you 500/1 that Galvin sticks around if Luai bails.

For sure. Luai has stated it was a big factor in his decision. Only a disastrous season next year will change anything.
It was. Viewing Benji from afar. I’m sure he might revise his opinion if he gets here and sees Benji is clueless. He wants to win, and we won’t win many games if we still concede 40-50 points every 3-4 weeks.

You keep trotting out that argument. Our first grade side is going to be very different, we’ve brought in guys from winning clubs. I’m confident they can tackle.

What evidence do you have that backs up the assertion that he is clueless. Not hearing it in the media or from anyone inside the club or players. In fact the only place I find negative descriptions of Benji's coaching is here.

There was a bit in the media about him not being a 24/7 coach and about his trip to Fiji in the bye round. Neither of which reflect ability. Despite winning the spoon again (and I do lump the spoon bowl loss on him) there were obvious improvements in performance throughout the year. When we were able to put an 80 minute performace in we had some good wins - you can't just jag that at NRL level.

Is he a great coach? Surely not, too junior. Would Flanno have achieved a better result? Maybe, pure speculation though. The issue with the 2024 Tigers, apart from our roster, was consistency and discipline. We demonstrated great kick chase, at times and in one full game, so they had been coached to do it correctly. We had some of the higher attackings stats even though we had a very disrupted halves combination as a result of suspensions and injuries, that doesn't just happen either.

We knew our roster was poor at this time last year and realists has us finihsing around 12th to 14th (two to four more wins). So we perfromed slightly below expectations based on the cattle we had on the farm.

I'm on the fence as to Benji's coaching ability. Time will determine if he makes it as an NRL coach or not but to assess him as clueless is a baseless call - unless you have some evidence to back up the assertion.
