Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The NRL won’t fix anything. It’s there for all to see and they still won’t do anything.
It makes them money that’s why, the more Fox make on click bait stories, the more the NRL can ask for at the next TV contract.
At what point can the club do something though? Luai’s only played one game ffs! Maybe I only notice when it’s us but I swear this doesn’t happen to other clubs.

Yes. Brooks just had his best year ever last year. He can also win games in clutch moments. Something luai has never done or looked like doing
Pass it on the left hand side. Man U have issues, I spoke up more fir brooks over the years, but your statement takes the cake! Clutch moments, when??? Broooks plays well with a team where his lack of brain does not matter, let’s see origin time when the brain he relies on goes to camp.

You reckon that he is not going to be impacted by the noise around that? If Lachie has got aspirations to play elsewhere as a 20 year old with plenty to learn our investing in him as our key playmaker at the expense of any other should cease.
I don't disagree with what you have written. I reflected on this a few weeks ago and came to the conclusion Galvin fits where the team needs him to play. Marshall will have to make a tough decision to make. With his fitness, height, lack of genuine pace and history in the forwards, it is only a matter of time before he switches to 13 or as a bench utility.

Why wouldn’t Galvin go to the market place come November?? If I was a player I would be doing the same, fielding all the offers than going back to the club I really want to play for and seeing how close they can get to the money being offered. It also gives my agent time to drum up a frenzy.

Anyway as others have said we have him till October 2026 on average coin, so we can still get plenty of football out of him and there s always another kid wanting a chance at the NRL

V’landys on Fox (heavy hitters segment) the other night was pretty honest about some of the game’s problems. He talked a bit about the challenges for lower sides attracting players and how the salary cap isn’t working how they want it to, ie: pushing the marquee players to bottom clubs. It was pretty refreshing to see him be up front about it and not sweep it under the carpet. What they might do about it though???

Dean Ritchie, put simply, is the worst journalist on the planet.

he effectively writes Sydney Confidential articles for the back pages. I wouldn't be giving what he has to say much airtime.
After throwing random rubbish about Luai and the Tigers, he then writes an article stating that "The Roosters should be admired, not hated"........a week after they had 50 put on them and the fact they let go/lost 4 to 6 of their best players from 2024.

Swap him for a gun back rower with the club he signs for
I think thats best play for us. I have no interest in him being here in 26 if he’s signed somewhere else. But then again, you’re asking our club to get something in return for giving up a contracted player. Surely, we know better than to expect that level of competency

Just wondering what our cap situation will be if Olam gets medically retired say this week and Klem ends up at Saints as widely reported in regards to roster spots and dollars in the ca

Its a sad scenario isnt it? I mean we have barely fired a shot for the 2025 season and the relentless bashing of the club has begun in the media. They love it like oxygen.
Im most concerned with winning games and building a club worth our years of loyalty.
Origin friendships? Nope.

The game is slowly devolving into the NFL contract wise. As a Philly fan, I remember years ago Donavan McNabb signed a five year extension, 20 million guaranteed (Or some crazy figure like that). The next season he was playing for the Redskins. Contracts have always been only worth the paper they are printed on, but it’s getting to a new level. Contracts have clauses coming out of their arse. There is zero guarantee that Brown sees out 10 years at Newcastle. There’s no way. Even Luai has them with us. And if by some miracle we retain Galvin, he will too. I think I’d be able to cop it if when clubs announced signings they make mention of these things. I get the details are sensitive and we don’t need to know all of the ins and outs, but it’s extremely misleading to announce “player X has signed with the club till at least the end of 2032, giving off the belief that it’s set in stone, only for a year or two later, the club turns around and says “Oh yeah, about that contract…”

LOL I saw that. Called them tall poppys.
The guy just does not get it.
The only tall poppys in RL are the Storm, Brisbane and now the Panthers

Right on the money here, so to speak. It seems they become unhappy because its Powerade and not Gatorade and immediately want out. I guess in Galvins case the manager has his greasy hands in the till...
Philly... Great year for you guys. Im still waiting to feel that SB victory breeze as a Bengals faithful...
Our organisation is run like a taco truck.... Diabolical.

Not sure on the legalities, but it could all be solved if the NRL stipulates that to have a contract with a get out clause, the club must have an equal option to terminate in the contract.

This whole let me get my guaranteed 10 years salary, but I can perpetually look around for a better deal thing is stupid.

Lets see how our season progresses, and if it is shaping up poorly we have no chance of retaining Galvin, leaving aside the $$ issue....We have to tick both boxes to retain him
If thats the situation, then we offer to release Galvin early in exchange for someone we want...
Dont just give him away like we did with IPAPs and many others
.....and if the season aint going so great,we'll throw in our coach for free..!
Maybe Payten if Nanai comes with him

Far out we are jumping the gun. The kid has talent we can all see that. He is learning his trade and will be good some weeks bad the next. We have this whole year to look at him and see if he is worth the money others are going to throw at him. If he is you hope the connections he forms creates a want to stay. If he isnt what we thought we can let him go to the highest bidder with the security we have another solid apprentice in latu and others coming through.

We as a supporter group live to much in the past or the future. Lets enjoy the fact he is ours for now and watching him grow and worry about the maybes later.
