Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We don't need to buy a top dollar half as Laui will be fine with a player he gets along with and wants to be a team player E.g Saxton or Smith etc..
Richo will get us a centre, 2nd Rower and some forwards as he knows what we are missing.

If we don't get May signed, I would like Jake Averillo from Dolphins as he is only on 400k.

Priority would be extending Bula ASAP as well
Only if Bula has a new manager, otherwise he can go F*** himself.

Agree.

They've got better options than Galvin already on the books. In the likes of Walker [soon back], Sandon & the kid Hugo.
I can't see them punting Walker and going with DCE/Galvin.

Ofcourse DCE upgrades their entire team. That said if they loose out on DCE, they are going to target Galvin heavily as a consolidation prize. Heck Gavlin -> Walker works for me.

This is not the solution. You’d solve one problem and create another because so many passes that are backwards out of the hand end up being caught in front of where the pass was thrown.
Not as simple to fix as a lot of people think.

Getting the sideline officials to do their job would be a good start.

I'm also sick of some commentators using the term flat pass as code for a forward pass, tell it like it is and don't just laugh it off like some sort of a joke as some do at the moment, how about blowing up big time and putting some pressure on the gutless mismanaged NRL. 😡

Yea, you know what we can criticise the Board for.

Letting Bula swap out his good manager who was working at our club for Issac Moses.
People seem to blame the back office for a lot of things. THIS, this is something that was in their wheelhouse and we had a local junior who could have easily been told "hey the manager we arranged for you is going to the dogs, here is another guy who is good"....

Instead Issac Moses.

Sport Confidential: Rising star hooker Tallyn Da Silva to test open market if Api Koroisau re-signs with Tigers

Fresh from the Lachlan Galvin drama, the Tigers are facing an uphill battle to keep fellow rising star Tallyn Da Silva, who is stuck behind captain Api Koroisau for a starting spot. SPORT CONFIDENTIAL

Fresh from the Lachlan Galvin drama, the Tigers are facing another uphill battle to keep fellow rising star Tallyn Da Silva after the club were told he would test the open market if they re-signed skipper Api Koroisau.

A crucial meeting between the Tigers and Da Silva’s agent last week brought the situation to a head with the club told Da Silva would look at his options come November 1 if Koroisau was kept beyond next season.

Da Silva has made it clear he wants to play regular first grade and eventually start in the No.9 jersey.

The Tigers plan to meet with Koroisau next week where they hope to extend the 32-year-old before he too can test the open market on November 1.

It is an interesting quandary for the Tigers given Koroisau is still at the top of his game despite being at the back end of his career. Da Silva though was part of the next crop of Tigers talent labelled one of the best junior grades to ever come through the club.

Galvin and Da Silva were meant to spearhead the next decade for the club. Galvin’s time is set to come to an immediate end and there are now doubts if Da Silva will remain at the club beyond next season or he may too ask to explore his options before his deal expires.

Da Silva is just 20 and had played in every Tigers game this season until last week where he was relegated to NSW Cup.

While Da Silva and Galvin are best mates and dominated the juniors together there is no pact for the pair to play alongside each other at NRL level. However they would make an attractive bundle for any club given the key positions they play in.

Re David Fifita...

Remember the team he did well in, the Broncos. You had Carrigan, Haas and a bunch of other strong forwards.

Remember the titans, the team he is doing poorly in. Strong forwards, but a lack of consistency.

How is he going to go in our weaker pack? Will he stand up as a leader, because I think he is more like Russell Packer, as he will look and follow a leader.
Even if he gives us 70% of what hes capable of then thats win in my eyes. We need some fire in the pack and someone besides big T and Roycey to wreck the line.

If we have a choice over David Fifita at 800k with 200k subsidised by the Titans, or KPP at 700-750k who would we prefer ?
In my opinion both are a risk at the required cost, KPP would appear a little more dedicated and reliable, but Fifita is a top 3 edge back rower in the game IF he’s motivated and playing at even 95% of ability.
We have to take a chance on one of them and I’m happy if we land either one of them, just have to hope a little bit of luck goes our way for a change, we sign one of them real soon and the one we end up with comes to our club with the right motivation and dedication to produce their best on a regular basis.
Shame that Fifita didn't signed with the Roorters, around about now Robbo would be giving him a phone call and we could have the fat bludger for next to nothing. 🤣

Barry Toohey (Newcastle's mouthpiece) reporting WT's offer to Kai Pearce-Paul is $600,000 a season.

very, very happy with that given what it costs for a premier backrower in today's market.
Yes that is a good deal jr just don't know what the holdup is, holding out for more money? it's taking a long-time hope someone else doesn't swoop in late.

these things take time mate. Galvingate and Richardson's holiday would've slowed negotiations even further. also have to remember that KPP was always going to go back to Newcastle so they could have last refusal.

it does seem as if it'll be all tied up within days though.
