Depends on the role Smith is asked to play. I know he has played some fullback, obviously 5/8 & 7....is he capable in other roles? He is quite little

form is not always linear improvement from when you get put in first grade …particularly in this team … he’ll come good … he is a certainly a better player than KPP at the position …
Why not move KPP to the middle instead ? Because he is a bit of a pissant and wouldn’t work there right ?

Versatile in what way? I've only seen him play in the halves & he played some fullback I believe in juniors...am I missing something?
Great pick up if he can play centre or something else as well.

We are a huge mess. No depth, rookie coach. Juniors leaving. Not replacing players we let go.

I'm not 100% on the point you are trying to make...but yeah- KPP isn't that kind of runner.
Samuela, if anything, plays like a young Klemmer.

I guess I’ll put it this way… people want to move players out of postion to accomodate lesser players into their best spot …Samuela is currently the best edge we have … in the unlikely event Kikau comes here …Samuela will be the second best ,,,
Therefore you play Samuela and Kikau as the two starting edges

Ok- I see your point.
I'm not saying Samuela isn't a good 2nd rower. But, given what is available, and given that I still believe we lose the middle- I think he offers better value, at least for now, in the middle.
He has that....presence.
People have laughed at my suggestion of Jack Hetherington before. Fair enough. But every team needs that guy that doesn't allow the opposition to push you around. The guy that puts on the hit, or does the big hit up to turn momentum.
Of everyone we have available....is there anyone better suited than Samuela in the club?
That guy can't be hidden on the edge. He needs to be in the muck.

If we are to land a big fish with our war chest, we have to for next season before Perth Bears start splashing the cash. Kikau would be ideal as another leader & culture driver with Api & Jarome.

Yeah and Samulela has some growth in him, he's still relatively young.
And you can see he doesn't mind whacking and getting whacked, however, is he ready for the middle, maybe but its a big ask for someone who's not supposed to be there.

it’s backended too so it’ll hit $850 in the later years, parra are kinda banking on him becoming elite otherwise it will burn a huge hole in their cap

Pawwa are desperate for signings,i like TDS but there is no way he is worth 650k per year imho.

When you watch teams with elite edge players you can see the value they bring to their respective squads and it accentuates what we are missing. Katoa, Kikau, Olakoatu, Kolamatagi, Nanai, Martin, Crighton, etc. These guys are match winners. Seriously our squad is so weak, until we get some elite quality players in these key positions we will struggle to play finals football - doesn’t matter who the coach is!
