From the limited times I have seen Maverick play 1st grade thought he showed real potential.Based on? Probably slightly higher work rate but nothing else.
What about gulled going on about the non event the trainer was in the panthers game. Then puts a complaint in about our behaviour, what fn hypocrite! So now the nrl have said the players will be fined $1500 each , yet the dogs fans can say and do what ever they like , and how f****** weak are the dogs management are for complaining, was it just a jesture for us flogging them , they really are becoming a rotten club
All good. What do I mean? You were talking about spots left if Doueihi and Taylan stay, and if Sullivan goes...
I actually did find an article just then from tigers in 2024 stating both Lauliliis are signed for 2026.
We have one dev spot left for next year, and I believe its being held for Tavana.
Geyers and Andrews announcement both make mention of Benji being pleased to welcome him into his squad, so I believe that means both are top 30... as the club has been pretty clear with the other 5 dev spots this year.
Edit on Andrews - Game winning U19s SOO half's normally dont sign dev deals a couple of months later, they sign top 30 contracts. Andrews is Galvin's replacement, Madden is Sullivan's.
Yeah Geyer really announced himself as a player of potential a couple seasons ago. He hasn't progressed much since. I am hopeful he can kick on and it is more limited opportunities (and some of his untimely injuries) holding him back. From the limited times I have seen Maverick play 1st grade thought he showed real potential.
For starters he brings a bigger body than Hassett isn't that what our pack has been screaming out for.
Hassett probably wants a longer contract. 1 year works out okay with Saukuru and Godinet coming through IMOHassett is better then Geyer but ok
I just nearly choked, good god manIf that is Ian Roberts son then thats a couple of interesting signings with geyer
Don’t think Ian Roberts will have a biological son any time soon.If that is Ian Roberts son then thats a couple of interesting signings with geyer
But none of the things you're talking about would be solved by a draft. In theory, clubs can already negotiate whatever they want if another club tries to sign a player who is under contract - money, player exchange, whatever. The reason it doesn't happen isn't because there aren't draft picks to offer, it's because contracts actually aren't worth that much as leverage for all the reasons we've seen. Isaac Moses made it very clear that either Galvin got released right away or he was going to make the next 18 months completely unworkable for the Tigers up to and including workplace bullying allegations.Right because a salary cap system that was designed to work in conjunction with a draft would be worse than that same salary cap system that has a hard cap but allows unlimited 3rd party arrangements. Kent was saying on his podcast he knows of currently 6 clubs breaking the salary cap to varying degrees from minor to massively.
The Galvin situation for instance, in order to let him break contract early and go to the Bulldogs, they would have to negotiate with us. More than likely we would have gotten their first round draft pick as compensation in next year's draft. So next year we would have pick no 6 and pick no 14 in the first round if we finished as we are now. That would compensate us a lot more than 150k.
To say the system only works because the clubs at the bottom are poorly run is an assumption we don't know for sure, as we don't have the added 3rd party funds to build a team like the top teams atm. How can an salary cap work if there are allowed to be unlimited dollars thrown at players outside of it. It's insane. The theory of players at clubs taking unders to stay togeather is garbage. It's only unders on the salary cap but the rest is topped up by 3rd parties. The system works if you have access to them otherwise your struggling to compete.
To suggest the afl draft system would be worse than what we have now is silly.
I think he's currently a better back rower than Sukkar and Seyfarth so he improves our swuad? That's what your wanting?
He's raw but showed some promise a couple times I seen him. Wouldn't make the run on side though
