Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think we're on the right path we've made the incremental improvement up the ladder still more to come i hope of course.
I think we're one or two really decent signings away one in the forwards ( two i wouldn't say no ) and another in the backs. Im not sold on Toa in the centres think we need a game breaker in there.

I also think had we not had the Galvin affair i reckon we would have made the 8 this year, i think that cretin totally derailed our season i hope the dogs crash and burn in straights sets and he's the cause.
Had we have converted a couple of those close one's notably the knights game and i think it was the raiders game when the muppet dropped it over the line we would have been mixing it in the 8 already. What havoc he caused, we all saw how after the dust settled we were a better and more cohesive team maybe Tallyn was a contributor to that also who knows what could have been.

I've got your back bro
Thanks Bud... And just for the record I would love to have any of the following players strap up for the tyges next year:

Spencer Leniu
Mo Fotuaika
Haumole Olakautu
Keaan Koloamatangi
Nelson

I have left both Tino, and David Fifita out of the above because I think they are over rated and over priced.

The problem with the other 5 impact forwards that I mentioned is that I can't see any of them coming to play for the Wests Tigers. I would love to be proven wrong here. The more I look at it the more I think we need to bring through a tyro from our pathways. There aren't many animals available out there.

Our forwards are pretty complete in many ways.

Just need elite athletes, power runners or 'hard men'.

We don't have room to get all of those things. I still think that Zyon Maiu'u is worth a look- he's that hard running type, but also an elite athlete.

Is he a risk? Yes. Probably why I wouldn't want to spend insane amounts on him. But I see a world where he & Royce Hunt tear up the middle part of a game through brute force.

I think Twal, Sione, Pole & Seyfarth offer the prop rotation role minus the athlete/hard runner style, and Terrell May is practically our version of Yeoh now, just playing in the front row.

KPP will be the athletic defender type. Samuela is an impact type forward & hard man. Sukkar is a tackling type as is Mav Geyer.

WE lack that elite athlete though, which is what Zyon is.
If we were looking at Zyon, he had some red crosses placed next to his name after today in NSW Cup. Looks like a beast but didn't play like one. I thought Kit Laulilii, Peter Taateo & Jaxson Rahme played better than him today and we lost.

I don't rate Lindsay Smith at all eh.

In any other team he's just another Sean Keppie.

If we're playing fantasy footy, Kurt Donoghue, Ray Stone or Xavier Willison please. They're all weapons.
Great comparisons...Keppie...Eisenhuth...played footy with lots of guys that made rep teams and no one could work out why...this guy is one of them.

One of those players would be nice, big it’s hard to see us getting any of them.
NAS would be a possibility if we offered him enough money, but as much as he would make our forward pack more imposing, is he worth big money at this late stage of his career ?
IF we could offload Royce and not have to contribute anything towards his contract, then potentially paying 300k extra to land NAS could be worthwhile, but I’m not convinced he would come to a club like ours and be motivated enough to play with the right attitude to give us value for money.
Obviously his ceiling is not quite as high as someone like NAS, but I get the feeling a potential signing of someone like Braden Hamlin-Uele would give us more value for money.

Sounds like you've put a lot of thought into this?

On your point...almost none of the players we signed this year I would have thought would ever play for us, yet here we are...I am a little more optimistic about our recruitment these days.

More questions and speculation than answers here...from all this is your final conclusion Hamlin-Uele?

He’s not the perfect solution, but rather than spending what would likely be 800-900k on someone like NAS, Hamlin-Uele would offer plenty of size and aggression at around half the cost.

We really don’t need much:

Fullback: Bula, Turuva
Wing: Skelton, Turuva, Laulili
Centre: May, Toa, Makasini
5/8; Luai, Fainu
Halfback: Douihei, Fainu, Madden
Second Row: KPP, Sam Fainu
Lock/Prop: Twal, Sione Fainu, Terrell May, Seyfarth, Pole
Hooker: Api, Haywood

Fringe players Geyer, Ethan Robert’s, Sukkar, Murray, Hope, Mason, Mapalangi, Taateo.

We really need to replace Hunt and Bird with two younger players of quality. A starting prop would be ideal as Pole and Sione Fainu coming off the bench would damage teams.

If Richo and Benji can get Griffin Neame and ATA Mariota type players into the squad we will make the finals.
Ethan Robert’s will be everyone’s favourite by the end of next year

With Fotuieka was there any bad blood between the club and the family ? It was a tragedy , and I’m sure if the club had its time again , they would have had him under watch after the injury , still it would be human nature for the family to hold ill will towards the club, justified or not . Does anyone know ??

Even if not I'll will im sure it would just feel to close to what happened. Probably the only player who'd id fully support having no interest in playing here

If my brother took his own life after tearing his pec at training and left behind a unborn baby it would not be a place I would go back to just move on don't go back

BMM took it the hardest

I endorse your positive approach. Maybe, if circumstances arise we could be in the mix for a Spencer or a NAS. If that were the case I would offer a minimum 2 year contract to avert such a player from jumping ship to the Perth Bears or Rugby360.

Maybe Richo's trip to the UK last year could bear belated fruit. They have a history of producing hard men... Cliff Watson, Malcolm Reilly, Phil Lowe, Sam Burgess, Adrian Morley, James Graham spring to mind. A real enforcer would be nice.
