I've started thinking of Terrell May more in terms of Yeoh. Hit-ups, but just as likely to be a ball player at the line. It's up to guys like Sione, Pole, Hunt to get the impact running metres.

Twal is the classic working prop (who hits harder than given credit for). He just happens to wear #13.

But that could EASILY be Twal in #8 & May in #13 and have exactly the same game plan.

Here's the story from behind the paywall ...

Bud Sullivan will remain at South Sydney for the next two years – and has taken a $100,000-per-season pay cut to do so.

Sullivan joined Wests Tigers on a lucrative four-year deal ahead of 2024 season, but made only eight appearances before being loaned out to the Rabbitohs for this year. Under the terms of the arrangement, Sullivan was required to return to the Tigers at the end of this season unless the parties came to a new arrangement.

That has come to pass after Sullivan agreed terms on a Souths extension. The deal was made possible after the Tigers agreed to pay part of his freight, while Sullivan himself had to take a wage cut. The former Dragons half will leave a six-figure sum on the table, a price he is willing to pay to continue to learn under Wayne Bennett.

The deal appears to be a win-win for all parties. Sullivan originally moved because it appeared he would be stuck behind Jahrome Luai and Lachlan Galvin, although the latter ended up joining the Bulldogs. That still left the Tigers with Luai, Adam Doueihi and Latu Fainu as halves options, while also bolstering the Rabbitohs’ playmaking stocks.

Souths have made no secret of their desire to offload Lewis Dodd, who has two years remaining on his contract and has only been activated at NRL level when all other options were extinguished.

Sullivan agreed terms with Souths at the same time veteran five-eighth Cody Walker re-signed for 2026. Other playmaking options for next year include incoming Dragons halfback Jonah Glover, Jamie Humphreys and Ashton Ward.

Only injuries prevented Sullivan adding to the 13 games he has played for the Rabbitohs to date.
Meanwhile, the “Pride of the League” is close to doing a deal that will result in David Fifita moving across from the Titans. The transfer will be expedited if they are able to move on Dodd, or if prop David Moale – granted permission to negotiate with rivals – finds a new club.

The retention of Sullivan and Walker provides stability after an injury-interrupted season.

“This is a special group of people we have here at South Sydney – players, coaches, administration, members and fans – and I’m certain we can achieve some great things in the coming years,” Walker said in a statement.

“There are some wonderful young talents in our playing group and I see my role as helping mentor them to become regular NRL players, whilst also producing top performances of my own on the field for the team. I know we can achieve great things and I want to be part of that.

“But what is really important to my partner Amy and I is that our family loves this club, and we feel like we are part of the Rabbitohs family. My boys are growing up as Rabbitohs. My eldest son, Kian, has earned his own red and green jersey in the junior rep development teams; my middle son, Kade, is beside me on the field as a ballboy; and my baby son, Kora, is starting to recognise the Rabbitohs logo and the colours that we all represent.

“Amy and I also have a little girl arriving in December and I’m certain she will be a little Rabbitoh too! This is a special place.”

I tend to think KPP will improve our team. He has been consistently good for the Knights and we would benefit from a low maintenance player who performs on a modest contract.

With all the player movements happening or likely to eventuate, who is not pleased Richardson and Marshall had the wherewithal to move on Galvin and Da Silva. Our team has been consistently competitive, providing a foundation from which to improve next season. We have not missed either player or there inflated contracts/value.

There is a bit of criticism of Seyfarth but he'll thrive with the increased competition for positions next year. Marshall will know Seyfarth will work hard in the pre-season to improve, thereby driving the squad to work harder. It seems like big win for the squad.

Yeah I see what your saying with May. If he could work on his ball playing, as I feel its very slow and predictable, he could be a very good 80 minute lock. He would need a huge off season learning how to play straight and pass both ways though.


On Twal, it is hugely underestimated the role he took on this year being the leader in line speed. His line speed was consistently much faster than any player we have had for years and should be an example for others to get to. IMO Twal had a very solid and consistent year and played an important role within our pack. He improved his game in many ways, more leg speed, footwork, and offloaded more. Defensively his line speed was very important like I said. I just dont know why many dont like him. People get obsessed with the islander impact of middles, but I actually like Twal off the bench. For me he adds a different impact in that role. He comes on and lifts line speed and uses his leg speed and quirky running through the middle. That combined with a genuine impact prop coming on with him and its a good mix.

Workrate and fitness isnt an issue. The comparison with Yeo should only be around what May brings in regards to linking with the halves. In that area he is terribly behind, but that doesn't mean he couldn't do it. He just needs the right guy to teach him. The best guy I've seen at playing straight into the line and linking with his halves was Elijah Taylor. Maybe he should be employed to work with May, Doueihi, Kit, Charlie Murray and Sione in the offseason

I’ll be shocked if he is in the best 17 next season … he is good depth though …and will still play plenty of NRL games

Seyfarth in my opinion should be in the 17. Name me another forward we have that you wouldn't want to run at?

Seyfarth is the only one that shows mongrel, gets it wrong granted but I'm not running at him

I put Seyfarth as 18 man because our forwards need to be stronger if we are to make the finals in 2026. I agree with you that we need a hard hitting forward or two in the 17 (hopefully these are signed in the offseason). If someone’s form drops or there is an injury I’m happy for Seyfarth to be in the 17 covering middle and edge. At this stage I’d have Sione over him for that role.

Terrell has been running harder of late. Think he understands why he didn't make NSW (even though it's still BS) and wants to develop his game.

Terrell is able to go harder but needs to pace himself because we don’t have other high quality middles to take more of the load off him. If we had another starting prop that could go with Terrell for the first 20mins then Terrell could go harder.

Galvins superpower was being TBH triathlete fit , breaking the nrl bronco record twice .
Once teams adjusted to the fact he could be trying to put a short ball into his winger on the left one tackle and being the sweeping player Ont he block the next play down the right to be back down the left running the third play , so next level fitness, I think they’ve realised he’s not that deceptive and tricky , but rather like others have said , just a continuous bombardment of pressure . I honestly don’t think that’s sustainable as he build muscle mass , and injuries and Father Time start to play a factor as he gets older . So this IMO is the peak of that . Whether the drop off is gradual or a cliff , depending on how the dogs strength and conditioning handle him , is kind of irrelevant . I don’t think he’s anywhere near the generational talent , people made him out to be . That’s not sour grapes . I had been singing from the same song sheet since march last year. .His playing style seems unsustainable .

That’s correct and why you pay the big money to players who are supposed to come up with big plays to win you games and pay far less to the other squad players who simply fill a role which generally involves bringing energy and a good work rate.
We have a lot of people on this forum who struggle to understand this.
For those who are still in denial, have a look at each NRL team list for this weekend and ask yourself the question, would all 4 bench players be walk up starts in our best 17 for 2026 ?
As I’ve already stated, but for the slow learners I will state it again, there are only 3-4 team lists at most for this weekend where you could confidently say all 4 bench players could individually be included on our best 17 as of season 2026 and be a clear upgrade on what we already have.
We are playing under a salary cap, it does not allow you to have 4 superstars on the bench,
