Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I disagree. Bula is right up there in the top echelon of fullbacks.

Maybe, I wonder what his tackle break stat is? Does he show the agility of other top fullbacks, who are bouncing out of tackles and making half breaks?

Also, has he the strength and power of other fullbacks?

He can glide into a backline movement as good as anyone but top fullbacks have more to their game. Not saying he doesn't but there needs to be some improvement.

Bula isn’t yet a tackle-breaking fullback; he gets between players and makes half breaks but is easily brought down. It seems more like a power issue than balance, but he can build that strength. Last off-season and pre-season, he was recovering from a shoulder operation, so he likely couldn’t focus much on weights. If he has a healthy off-season this time, he should come back stronger, turning those half breaks into full ones.

He will be in for a shock as he would be well down the roster for a FG game unless we have injuries.
if AD has a solid crack and turns out to be a great 13 I would not be surprised if Jock is next cab off the rank in the halves (if Latu or Luai are out). Can he play 9 for 20 mins in a pinch?

Which on its own shows how good a player Jahream already is.
Just reading through the discussions and only see Jahreem Bula getting better. Do agree that he needs a bit more muscle on his frame , but that will come with a good off season on the weights. Fantastic player with a great attitude. Hope he stays for the long haul. As for Jock Madden, i would be suprised if he is anything more than back up but handy none the less. If he is fit, Latu is your half, i think this kid is an outstanding prospect and as tough as teak. Tackles like a backrower.

A better fullback is not signing for the Tigers. Key position and we are not at the top end of clubs for marquee players. Bula is about to hit his peak in the next few years not signing him would be one of the most bone headed decisions we could make.
Agree. Not sure why we are looking at the players in our squad that are up to NRL level. The squad still has players in it that were called upon to play NRL when they should be developing their skills in state cup. The focus should be having more punch in the 17.

Great and sensible post mate

Another wooden spoon for the NRLW. Should they just hand the licence back? The club aren’t taking it seriously and can’t imagine it’s bringing in revenue.
Not necessarily and not that easy, the NRLW has a very low salary cap, for 2026 the cap is just $1.386m ($1.284m in 2025) spread over a 24 player squad with a minimum $46,200 salary, that equates to $1.1088m used before you even pay any of the girls over the minimum, leaving just $277,200 to spread amongst your top tier players or just over $10,000 additional per squad member.

It means most have to play for less than the average wage which in turn means many require an outside job to supplement their income and support themselves, those with partners are in a better position as their partner can help with financial support but if they have a family it also becomes more difficult to relocate distances due to kids and school, partner and employment etc.

Most clubs can have the luxury of 3 or maybe 4 top tier players and then relying on your own junior system to produce talent or looking at other clubs to recruit, and thus as the minimum wage is low it would be harder to entice young talent to move regions and away from family and employment.

It's no coincidence that the 2 teams that have dominated this year are Rorters and Brisbane, two original clubs that had the luxury of getting early talent without a lot of competition, and with a low cap the security would way heavily as most clubs can't offer significantly more than they are probably already receiving to switch clubs.

The Dragons had that opportunity too but seemed to have wasted it, the Steelers are strong in their lower grades, however the St George lower grades have been very weak for years and as many Steelers players end up at the Sharks as the Dragons.

The Bulldogs looked like they bought up big for their debut season but after starting well with 2 wins to start they struggled with only 1 win and a draw from their remaining 9 games including some heavy defeats (conceding 170pts in their final 4 games).

Until the cap is more reasonable that a better portion of your squad can earn a reasonable living wage which would make it more attractive to switch clubs some clubs will continue to struggle unless they can produce their own talent.

With Justin Holbrook as coach and other key signings for Newcastle, Josh Hannay assistant QLD coach going to titans, daniel atkinson going to dragons, I think we are favourites for the spoon next year. Can't think of a bottom team that is going to be content with their season like us, not have many good signings for next year and have a rookie coach. Seibold is probably the worst after Benji, but he's getting fogarty on board to replace DCE. We're getting KPP from the wooden spooners... another rough season is on the way in 2026. I can't see our completely instinctual style of play with no set plays and high risk footy working out to make it anywhere near the top 8. Bare in mind we have had Terrell May all season, what if he gets injured next year? We are done. Still have to worry about the clauses in luai and bula's contracts too

Eels have not improved at all
Knights are miles behind us
Manly are the most inconsistent team in the comp
Titans can attack every couple of weeks and that’s it
Dragons team isn’t getting any younger
Cowboys have no new signings coming in
Rabbits even without injuries are not a better team then us

This post has to be ragebait

I respect most of your posts but this is ridiculous

We are close to if not in the 8 next year

More cohesion

No sooky Galvin bs

I think we will surprise the comp next year

I
True, but fullback would be the easiest position to replace. I dont think Bula would be in the top 8 fullbacka running aroind.
disagree on the first bit, front row or lock is our easiest position to replace, I feel we tea lack an alpha front row who bends the line every run and wacks blokes in defence, May is great but not the aggressor we have lacked for ages
