Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

“Our pigs aren’t even that good”…. That’s entirely my point…. That’s what needs to be priority and improved to get this team to a premiership winning level…not the backs depth

Have a look at the starting packs and the benches of the GF teams and Penrith… we are way behind ..

You have raised a lot of points here ..Im not going to debate them all ..

We got three spots left and limited funds … you need to pick and choose where to put the remaining assets …

Our starting back 5 are mid level and we got a couple left over that can provide adequate depth …maybe bring in one more depth piece as I alluded to earlier today above,,,but the focus has got to be improving the middle with a quality piece
Let's go Richo ...

1 - Bring in Albert Hopoate as our outside back depth (is an NRL starter at his best & covers centre, wing, fullback). His cousin Monson is coming up through our pathways.
2 - Try to pry one of Ray Stone (value) or Josh Curran a year early - high effort, fast line speed lock, strong D.
3 - One of Jack Hetherington or Lazaraus Vaalepu as a big bodied depth prop in case we have injuries. I think Benji sees our '26 prop rotation as May, Pole, Sione, Twal & a rejuvenated injury-free Hunt.

I’ll take some of these moves…we need a bigger name to add to that prop rotation …I don’t know what’s happened to Pole…. If they can get someone better instead …they should see if the Storm want Pole to free up some cash…

I hope Richo was playing mind games when he said the squad was settled..he has got to keep churning …

I think Madge can coach but he can’t build a roster from scratch. He was definitely hindered here with cap issues & was trying to coach blokes who signed to play under Ivan & we can all agree 2 very different styles. The thing that concerned me was his game plan mimicked that of his time at Souths & we didn’t have the firepower in the forwards to be affective and he didn’t change it to adapt to his squad strengths. Good luck to him in GF though as I think he genuinely cared for the club
People also forget that his time with Souths didn’t end well either.

Hoping we recruit starting quality forwards or any position is probably equivalent or less chance than hoping our current players can improve a few rungs next year
With another off season you would expect younger players to improve a notch, if they didn't well then, we would have concerns about Benji and his staff.

Wonder if the rumour that we are looking at Jack Hetherington has legs, probably take him if there's no better around.

Well....beggars cant be choosers i guess but to me hes like a forwards version of Naden....more brain farts than good footy.
Could probably do worse

Actually, thought he has smartened up in recent seasons at the Knights, not so undisciplined, couldn't be any worse than Seyfarth and is a bigger body.

As you say probably take him if we can't find any better, even as depth considering middle is the priority.

Stefano Utoikamanu says his move to the Storm has been the best call of his career, and he hopes to bring Fonua Pole with him:
“Fonua Pole is from [Melbourne], he has family here, and I’d love to see him come.”

Most players go there and perform as they have the best spine in the comps most years and rep players around them.. He has won nothing yet and hope Broncos continue that this week.
No loyalty and now trying to poach players from us.

IMO Bellyache will retire in 2 years and I think they will be back mid ladder once his gone.

LET GO BRONCOS and cannot wait for their forwards to smash him

Melbourne chased him hard last year on Nov 1 but he chose to stay loyal and re-sign. It's the second time they had tried to get Fonua back down there. His brother will probably make his debut for the Storm in the next 1-2 seasons.

He copped a heap on the forum for his performances at the back end of the year, but he was one of our best players in the opening 10 rounds before he got injured. He's still only 23 and will only get better over the next 3-5 years as he comes into his prime years for props

He’s worth every cent of that but he ain’t flawless, I wouldn’t be going much north of another 50k. I love yelling Helta Skelta but I don’t wanna ruin our cap over it.
I hope he stays on a reasonable contract.
I saw him on a YouTube clip and he seemed to be of the opinion he's fighting for his spot here... id love for him to come on the journey with us
