Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Lindsay Smith, Scott Sorensen and Liam Henry are all set to test the open market. Richo PLEASE look at Henry or Smith
Liam Henry is the type we should go after, young, worthy of a starting prop opportunity, not a rep player yet so more value.

PANTHER SET TO HIT FREE AGENCY

Penrith premiership forward Liam Henry looks set to hit the open market on November 1. Henry, a fixture in the Panthers forward pack in recent seasons, is yet to field an offer from the Panthers with the clock ticking down until he enters the final year of his deal.

The 24-year-old is set to be in hot demand if the Panthers can’t lock him up in the next three weeks. He isn’t the only Panthers premiership winner set to be up for grabs on November 1.

Lindsay Smith, Luke Garner and Scott Sorensen are also about to enter the final year of their deals. Sorensen has been linked with a move to Perth and the Bears are also likely to take an interest in Henry should he be available.

NAS "released" from final 2 years of his contract....How is it the big clubs seem to be able to easily release players from their contracts, yet the WT have to pay them out to go...???
There are ways around it when you have a billionaire owner.

And that's my point Tiger_Yoshi ... No one walks away from 1.7mil over 2 years = MADNESS

They must have paid him out with the condition he makes it sound he is happy to leave.

It just doesn't pass the Pub test
Maybe he's been a naughty boy and the choice of released or sacked

Very good question,
If anyone has the answer can they please let us know ?
It’s an easy answer. The “big clubs” have a better average calibre of talent, and when they have used up the very good ones they can easily get rid of them knowing the smaller clubs will fall over themselves with rose coloured glasses hoping to get a few years of something the player hasn’t produced in 2 seasons.
That doesn’t sound familiar?

Brown was good for manly and plays a roll we don’t have anyone doing , Pole should be but isn’t , Bird become a passenger in our top 20 players so a swap is well and truly best for us , brown off the bench does add some punch and he can play Lock , back row , prop , it’s not a bad deal

And 5/8 in his junior days

yeah, caryiannas said $500k a year.
So riddle me this...
Your the Melbourne storm. You have
NAS on 850k per year.

You pay NAS 500k, per year to break contract.

That leaves 350k of cap remaining. But wait, you still have NAS's spot and the least you can pay someone is 120k.

So the Storm have saved a total of: 230k to punt NAS.

Either they have a total gun ready to step in OR a cap crunch (i.e. warbrick and co they want to keep) OR NAS has pissed people off that much they just want him gone!

I don't get it.

i guess, he’s got 1.7m remaining - so $500k for 2 years is still better than paying the whole lot. they have their eyes on cooper bai so maybe he’s the replacement at a minimum cost - even tho he’s the next best forward coming thru and would command big money at other clubs

I reckon they’ll use the money to keep Kamakimika.

Don’t forget the Storm have Lazarus Valepo who was unsighted this year and also signed Josiah Pulu mid year.
